This book attacks the public education system from multiple Libertarian angles. The first article is "touchy-feely libertarianism,"
arguing that "innate goodness" can be relied upon to create a good education system. Another approach is historic, using
the example of New York to show how public ed. wormed it's way into America through deceit and fraud, and how it is designed
to promoted conformity. Another great article claims harm is done to children in school, and that public schools waste
the majority of each student's day.
I have recommended this book to several friends.
In conclusion, EDUCATION IN A FREE SOCIETY is an interesting attack on the American "tax school" system of education that's worth your time and money.

Evidence shows that disappointment in public education and its traditional management system has led to the creation of alternative
education systems that are doing a better job of serving diverse student populations. The disenchantment of educators with
the prescriptive, bureaucratic nature of much of the educational administrative system has grown since No Child Left Behind.
Excellent teachers and administrators have left the profession because of the public education system, and there is increased
sentiment to update formal education. We seem to be at a crossroads where public demand and action for educational change
and updating is the only way reform can be accomplished.
In Education Is Everybody's Business, Berenice D. Bleedorn reminds readers of the crucial value of creative, critical, systemic, and futuristic thinking in an integrative, interactive global system. Our social and political institutions depend upon the capacity of both leadership and followership for complex, fair-minded thinking. Both the public and educators need to be catalysts for change. They need to understand that programs and strategies for effective learning for a wide range of students are available: that the impetus for such institutional change depends upon their initiative: and that new directives require the powerful voice of the informed electorate in search of positive change. This book will be useful to those seeking information for more effective operations and those committed to serving the learning needs of students.

This text was used as the primary source for a graduate educational administration law course. I found it to be an excellent
survey of the most important legal issues facing educational administrators in the United States. The text uses specific
court cases and judicial opinions to frame the history and current status of litigation. A very accessible resource for the
modern educational administrator.

Very Honest and Acurate Description of the Malaysian Education System

This is a highly recommended book for those who wish to know a level deeper about the Malaysian Education system than just
a mere superficial observation of this issue. It provides a very accurate historical background as well as contemporary issues
affecting the Malaysian Education system. I was a Malaysian government teacher myself for a number of years before I officially
resigned last year. When I read Dr Bakri Musa's book, everything that he wrote was applicable to my own experience as a government
teacher. Malaysia needs more intellectuals like Dr Bakri Musa to give an honest and constructive view of what's happening
in our system. There are just too many Malaysian teachers out there who would agree with what Dr Bakri Musa had said in his
book, but would be too afraid to admit out of fear. We should be able to evaluate our education system without fear I think.
And fear should not be the obstacle for us to move forward.
I bought this book in 2005 but I believe this book will continue to be of high relevance to the current state of our situation. "Terima Kasih Dr Bakri Musa. Bukumu umpama pelita lampu yang menyinari dan menerangi dunia pendidikan kita." (Translation: Thank you Dr Bakri Musa. Your book is a lamp that enlightens our the world of our education.)

In 1954 the U.S. Supreme Court declared segregated public schools unconstitutional: what is the state of educational freedom
in this country over forty years later? David Salisbury and Casey Lartigue Jr. gather articles to show schools still lack
equality in modern times: minority children in urban neighborhoods still suffer disproportionately from a failing education
system. A dozen leading scholars, educators and reformers examine why in Educational Freedom in Urban America: Fifty Years
After Brown V. Board of Education.

Meticulously compiled and expertly edited by Elizabeth A. Winston, Educational Interpreting: How It Can Succeed is a scholarly
anthology of essays by learned authors concerning the strengths and weaknesses of the practice of educational interpreting
for deaf students. The contributors are all experts in the field and include former educational interpreters, teachers of
deaf students, interpreter trainers, and deaf recipients of interpreted education. Divided into three sections - once focusing
on deaf students themselves and the language myths that surround them, one raising questions about the support and training
that interpreters have in and from the school systems, and one considering suggestions for improving the problems facing interpreted
education, and how to improve situations for educational interpreters. A welcome contribution to deaf studies and a critical
assessment of the skill of educational interpretation itself.

Initially, I read this book because of a friendship. Once I got into the book, I realized the information was applicable
to relationships in my life, including employer-employee, parent-child, and personal. In particular, I found new perspectives
on fostering synergy in relationships. I could see that when relationships incorporate an environment of synergy, a sense
of empowerment emerges that leads to limitlesss and ever-evolving possibilities. This book is a must read for those interesting
in challenging the status quo and developing relations of freedom.

One of the Best Education Books I Have Ever Read

A few years ago, one of America's leading scholars on education issues and author of many outstanding books on education,
Professor Diane Ravitch, recommended that I read this book by Professor Mark Holmes. I read it several times two winters ago,
and have been recommending the book ever since, as it is a book full of golden nuggets of wisdom. Holmes explains why school
choice is the critical education reform of the 21st century. A theme that is woven throughout the book is Holmes's differentiation
of "low doctrine" versus "high doctrine" schools. This is an extremely important topic that is rarely discussed in either
popular education articles written for laity or in educational research. Professor Holmes wrote this book in the early 1990's,
yet his ideas are so fresh and futuristic and innovative that his book will be as appropriate to read decades in the future
as it is today. I issue one disclaimer: Be aware beforehand that Holmes may influence you to change your position on many
education issues. I strongly encourage education leaders and policy makers who are open-minded and willing to be intellectually
persuaded to read this book. Parents and citizens who have a critical interest in education will learn much from reading this
book as well.

It's sure to provoke thought; and there's precious little of that around when we start talking (usually bashing) America's schools. We need some basic rethinking about purposes, and this is a very good try at that tough subject.
