A hidden jewel of quantitative finance books
This wonderful book and its companion book "Financial Engineering: Derivatives and Risk Management" have been on the markets more than one year, but still didn't draw sufficient attention from the readers in either academic or practical world. FinMath.com didn't add any of them on its bestseller list, and there's no single reader's review on Amazon.com.
I have both books for a while and like them very much. I consider them as the hidden jewels of quantitative finance books. This book definitely beats the "Investments" by Bodie, Kane and Marcus, and its companion book does the same thing to John Hull's "Options, Futures, and Other Derivatives". If you can find any of them in the bookstore you patronize frequently, I bet you will take it/them to home the same day. Both are published by John Wiley, but priced as [inexpensively] as computer books on mass markets. In addition, the supporting Website has related Excel, GAUSS and PowerPoint files for downloading. The PowerPoint slides have professional quality. The only thing I don't like is the GAUSS program code on the books. I can't imagine anybody would take time to learn GAUSS just for those 2 books, and never understand why the authors didn't give VBA or pseudo code for majority's interest.
Both are written as textbooks, but contain lot of useful information on practical consideration, such as "The market maker Buys the Base currency at the Bid rate - which is the 'low'figure(usually the figure which comes first in the quote)".

The Investor's Guide to Warrants: Capitalize on the Fastest Growing Sector of the Markets

A great introduction to warrant investments
This book is a magnificent introduction to warrant investments. Giving specific explanations of what a warrant is, how it works, and what makes it attractive, the author also clearly states the risks associated with the investment tool. This gives a fair picture of the tool, so that everybody can find out whether or not they want to use warrants for their own investment. The writing of the book is clearly understandable, even to non-investment freaks. Difficult terms are explained clearly, and the book leads the reader further into the subject with each chapter. After having read the book, you might not be the world's greatest expert on warrants, but you will definitely be in the position to make some money out of them. A book for anybody who wants to make some money!

Irrational Markets and the Illusion of Prosperity
Published in Hardcover by Glenlake Publishing Company (July, 2001)

Investing in Pamplona: Don't Let Your Net Worth Be Trampled
In Irrational Markets and the Illusion of Prosperity, author Don DeVitto makes a VERY COMPELLING argument why Americans are experiencing one of the greatest speculative eras in recorded history. DeVitto combines his extensive knowledge of historical periods of severe speculation, in particular the 1920s in America and the 1980s in Japan, with almost 20 years of working "on the front lines" with individual investors, to draw a very insightful, yet sobering picture.

DeVitto writes: "Investors are now looking back at the reality of the last decade rather than forward to the risks that lie ahead." He argues quite convincingly that "the deflationary risks in today's global economy are more pronounced than at any time since the 1930's."

DeVitto reveals that our passion for stocks, combined with an ever-increasing debt burden at both the individual and corporate level, have left our nation with little wiggle room should we experience a recession of any lasting duration. He argues that as the "wealth effect" begins to evaporate, the confidence or psychology of most investors will erode, and, as consumers, will quickly discover that both their capacity and desire to buy goods and services have diminished markedly.Given that consumers represent 2/3 of the economy, it doesn't take a nuclear scientist to figure out what can happen to corporate earnings, which, ultimately, are a stock's only lifeboat.

DeVitto writes in plain english and incorprates his graphs in a very user-friendly way, making the book accessible to all readers. Irrational Markets is a very smooth read, and at under 200 pages can be incorporated into even the busiest of schedules.

Despite the fact the NASDAQ is currently 50% off its highs reached in March of 2000, this book is no less timely. In fact, should some of the concerns raised by DeVitto become a reality, most Americans will be elated to return to their February 2001 account values.

DeVitto's book is A MUST READ for any equity investor, especially bullish investors like myself who have embraced technology stocks with the same passion a 16 year-old boy embraces his prom date. I'm confident readers will find this book well worth their time and the investment (the price of the book and a bottle of TUMS)as it will serve as a much needed yield sign through the frenetic intersection of Equity Street and Net Worth Avenue, Pamplona, USA.

Succinct and Relevant
Alexander and Lyons have outlined a strategy for service organizations to shift (their) historical models of selling that will place any organzation ahead of customer demand and expectations. An awesome transformation will take place for the company that applies "the Knowledge-based" blueprints to actually create demand and stop the wasteful "reactionary sales methods" that are most common today. Great Resource!

The best trading book so far.
This is one of the best book on trading. I've read it for three times and I can say that I will read it again.

Kroll talk about how the market discount news, how everyone has his own trading system, and also not forgeting the golden rule of cutting your losses short and letting your profit run.

In short, if you have time for only one book on trading, this will be the one.

The Lab, the Temple, and the Market: Reflections at the Intersection of Science, Religion, and Development
Published in Paperback by Kumarian Press (October, 2000)
Author: Sharon Harper
Amazon base price: $24.95

Informative and challenging discussions
In The Lab, The Temple, And The Market: Reflections At The Intersection Of Science, Religion, And Development, Sharon Harper has compiled a collections of informative and challenging discussions of development issues and processes within the context of Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, and the Baha'i Faith. Each of the contributors is a scientist and a person of faith. They write on how religious belief and personal faith can be both deeply motivational and strikingly fruitful in scientific pursuits. The emphasis is on how their faith brought them a profound understanding of the interconnectedness and compassion, and through that understanding, a wider perspective and a greater sense of personal meaning with respect to the varied scientific researches. The Lab, The Temple, And The Market is enthusiastically recommended reading for academics, religious leaders, and non-specialist general readers with an interest in science and religion.

Labor Market Flexibility in Thirteen Latin American Countries and the United States: Revisiting and Expanding Okun Coefficients (World Bank Latin American and Caribbean Studies)
Published in Paperback by World Bank (September, 1999)
Authors: Jose Antonio Gonzalez Anaya and Jose Antonio Gonzalez Anaya
Amazon base price: $22.00
Average review score:

A top labor market study for the region
Jose Antonio Gonzalez explores the relationship between unemployment, real wages and GDP growth. The study shows how lower inflation makes labor rigidities more costly in Latin America. He shows that compared to what happens in the US, GDP changes have a large effect on real wages and a smaller one on employment in Latin America. The book is a must-read for those academics and practitioners who wish to understand the behavior of labor markets in the region.
