Practical, self-reliant advice
In rough times, approximately 25% of businesses fail, 70% survive, and 5% thrive. Since 1854, the United States has had thirty-two economic downturns, and all signs indicate that the cyclical economy is here to stay. Marketing expert Tom Reilly's How To Sell And Manage In Tough Times And Tough Markets is a sobering, critical appraisal of how to become part of the 5% that thrives during the inevitable downturns of the market, and how to best adapt to a cyclical economy rather than be crushed whenever it rolls over you. Practical, self-reliant advice to help executives focus on finding a solution rather than worry about blame fills How To Sell And Manage In Tough Times And Tough Markets. Very strongly recommended for any entrepreneurs, salespeople, and corporate managers, who plan to profitably stay in business.

Great book
This book does a great job of helping you answer the most difficult type of interview questions, behavioral interview questions. As a training manager, who trains managers and executives on behavioral questions, I feel I am qualified to say this book works.

This book is a wonderful resource especially if you know what type of job you want. If you do not know what type of job you want you may want to read, "How to find your dream job and make it a reality," which by the way is a job hunting classic. Of course, there other books, but this one is my favorite.

Read this book, and practice for your job interviews and you will be successful in your job hunt.

I Guarantee You Will Buy Low Sell High and Make Money
This is the best and most informative and usable book on the stock market that I have ever read and is suitable for investors at all levels, even beginners. I wouldn't take $100 for my copy if it couldn't be replaced. The book is not based on theory but a proven portfolio management formula developed and tested sense the 1970's. I am using the method described in the book with success. The book is not a "get rich quick" scheme but a how you can make a steady 20-30% return on your investment safely. The author is very helpful and well informed on the market. The first author I have ever written to that the author will respond promptly and with a willingness to help. The author Jeff Weber also publishes a very informative and useful newsletter for only $15 a year in HTML format. Get this.... the newsletter tells you the stocks that have been thoroughly researched and recommended for this method of investing thus practically all the work is done for you. The author also has an informative web site at: http://jjjinvesting.com I give this book a 5 Star Plus. Buy it -is my recommendation. Feel free to contact me at jimboo@pldi.net if you desire more information on this book.

Wonderful glance at economic theory
Mr. Schmookler does an excellent job critiquing conventional economic theory of all stripes in this book. He shows the virtues and flaws of markets in good detail. The finest part of this work, though, in my opinion, was its fine rejection of libertarian economic ideas, especially since it utilizes the words of the libertarians themselves in doing so. Mr. Schmookler has obviously studied the views of numerous conventional and alternative economists and he does a fine job of explaining their views and problems with them. Just an excellent work - easily the finest text I've seen on economics yet. Highly recommended.

The Individual Investor Revolution: Seize Your New Powers of Investing & Make More Money in the Market
Published in Hardcover by McGraw-Hill Trade (26 August, 1998)
Authors: Charles B. Carlson and Chuck Carlson
Amazon base price: $21.95
Used price: $0.95
Collectible price: $3.95

Charles B. Carlson strongly believes that anyone can become a blue-chip stock investor: you can do it with $50 a month, little or no money up front, no fees, and--best of all--no broker. In his book, The Individual Investor Revolution, Carlson writes that this is the best way to participate in today's stock market.

For those who need an introduction, Carlson is a noted pied piper of "dividend reinvestment plans" or DRIPs--programs that invite you to buy stock directly from companies, without a broker. About 1,100 companies offer stock via optional monthly cash payments and reinvesting of dividends. Better yet, 400 of these--including Disney, Exxon, IBM, and Compaq--will sell you the first share without a broker. The increasing popularity of investing "drip by drip" is one sign of the extraordinary clout that small investors are wielding on Wall Street these days, Carlson says. The Internet also is changing the face of investing by providing online trading and easy access to high-level information and research, he writes. With DRIPs, 401(k) retirement plans, no-load mutual funds, and Roth IRAs, people are getting all the tools they need to build wealth over time. "You have the ability to change your financial future, as well as the financial futures of your children and your grandchildren," writes Carlson, who publishes investment newsletters and comanages a mutual fund.

Carlson's fans will enjoy this book's "ultimate individual-investor portfolios," featuring his best picks for mutual funds, individual stocks, and mini-profiles of 60 top companies. The book also includes a valuable directory with performance histories of nearly 200 companies offering direct purchase of stock. The Individual Investor Revolution is excellent for readers who want an all-inclusive guide to DRIPs. It's also a great primer for people starting out in the stock market. --Dan Ring

A Practical, Useful Guide For The Small Investor
Lots of practical, useful and down-to-earth information in Charles Carlson's "The Individual Investor Revolution". Carlson lists dozens of Internet sites, pointing and clicking the reader to valuable stock research previously available only to the professional investor. Carlson keeps things simple and easy to understand. He talks about the importance of owning stocks, investing regularly, simple investment plans, having patience with your investments. He provides a 100+ page list of U. S. stocks offering Direct Stock Purchase plans and a 28 page list of foreign stocks available for direct purchase through U. S. stock exchanges. He provides a lot of "how to" information for the small investor. This book has a lot of value and is worth reading.
