a MUST READ for any investor!
What drives stock markets? Earnings. Can you look at current earnings to predict future price changes? No, current earnings are already reflected in the stock price. You must look at the estimates of future earnings in order to predict price changes. This book is a MUST READ for anyone who invests as it covers every seminal article written on the subject of using earnings estimates. Brian Bruce, who hosts an annual conference on the subject, is a leader in the field and has chosen the best of the best articles.

A superb resource that goes far beyond marketing
For anyone interested in conducting research that will be used, this is an absolutely essential resource. A lot of claptrap has been written about knowledge use. In contrast, this is an extremely solid, scientific, helpful volume.

Couldn't put it down! A must read! Two huge thumbs up!
Dr. Menchik's provacative writing keep me on the edge of my seat from page one till the heart-wrenching end! The saga of his economic theory combined with the tension of the bitter supply/demand battle provides excitement for everyone from the beginning student in Econ 101 to the tenured professor of economics. I strongly recommend this thrilling tale for anyone interested in a good cost benefit analysis or other great economic theories! I can't wait for the sequels!

For the stand-alone inventor
While broad enough in scope to touch on every step required to bring your idea to market, this book goes into detailed solutions to problems you might not have even thought about until too late. Very good details, especially on direct marketing, copywriting. It is an excellent reference book for the self-manufacturing inventor.

Addressing the Pensions Crisis
First, dear reader, let me warn you about the level of difficulty you will discover upon reading this book. While the subject matter is not the most compelling to begin with, reading this book will not help the case. The content is certainly worthwhile if you persevere but it is written in a manner akin to the transformation of a Ph.D thesis into a text book.

Having said that I awarded this text with five stars because it certainly sets out in sometimes a little too much detail the state of pensions from a selected group of countries around the world. The author writes as a certified expert having sat on a commission in his native New Zealand investigating the subject. While New Zealand may be a small, relatively sparsely populated, country it has also been one of the most foward looking and experimental democracies in the world and one of the most ground-breaking nations that others have not been slow to follow.

Littlewood's book follows in a great tradition of work done by that free market pathfinder, Arthur Seldon, at the Institute of Economic Affairs in London. He sets out the history of state provided pensions and the context in which they were developed before setting out the basic principles of pension provision which he believes can be agreed upon by the vast majority of political parties and other interested groups and individuals.

He explores the various schemes and notes their basic similarities of the features of the schemes and the benefits that they provide. He also looks at pension scheme funding and the implications for the public purse, aspects to which he returns throughout the book.

Later on he sets out, again in considerable detail, a set of proposals and implications which he believes will adress the various states of provision in the different countries highlighted. In doing so he attends to the problems and objections thrown up by the various protaganists in the debate and tries to meet each of them head on and within the context and the development of his arguments in the book.

This book, written in 1998, is a very timely and important contribution to the debate on the economic impact of the changing economic and demographic circumstances which we face now and in the years ahead. The author refers at one point in his text to the way in which various reports of his committee's findings were published at certain times during it's lifetime. One feature of these reports were the edited versions produced for the layman. Im my humble opinion this book deserves to reach a wider audience than policy makers and pension professionals but it is a little dense and technical even for an educated generalist. Perhaps the Institute of Economic Affairs could use their good offices to suggest to CIVITAS that they might seek some sponsorship to draw attention to this request.

How to Hold It All Together When You'Ve Lost Your Job (Vgm Career Books)
Published in Paperback by NTC Publishing Group (January, 1996)
Author: Townsend Albright
Amazon base price: $9.95

Financial Sanity When Everything Else Goes Crazy
Townsend Albright has written a wonderful book about holding it all together financially when the unthinkable happens. I loved his ideas about negotiating with mortgage lenders, and for that matter, negotiating with everybody, as an alternative to bankruptcy or other less desirable options. Albright's book helps you keep the wolves at bay while trying to figure out your next step. When all else is bedlam, this must-read provides a sane approach for making it through the night. As an attorney who has helped financially-troubled individuals and others hitting the financial skids, I thought this book was an excellent, non-legal way to survive it all.

How to Make Money in Stock Options

THE best book on options...
Although this book was written in 1984 it is still, in my opinion, one of the best and clearest descriptions of options trading ever published. All later books have taken passages from this book. It also contains many formula for calculating Fair Price, days to reach a certain price, probability of reaching a price, and many more. I just cannot understand why it has not been republished given the interest in trading options. Stan Graham
