Excellent, detailed roleplaying in Tolkien's vast realm
I love this system, it captures the flavor of Tolkien while making for an efficient roleplaying system. Great for fans of Tolkien, even if they aren't interested in roleplaying. The supplements for this game are some of the best RPG supplements I've seen. Loads of fun!

This is my favorite RPG system, a complete masterpiece!
This is one of the most comprehensive and realistic RPG systems I've encountered. I love it, and not just because it lets you adventure in the amazing realms of Middle-earth. The system is detailed and difficult to get to grips with at first but it is certainly worth the effort.

for a single world based roleplaying game it is the best
tolkien middle-earth will coming alive for you if you enjoy roleplaying games... you'll love it....

I Agree
Though I agree with the previous reviewer that this work stands at the pinnacle of roleplaying literature, I take exception to his characterization of his brother. He is, in fact, an individual of exceptional character and kindness. I personally witnessed many tender moments in their childhoods; and while severe beatings did occur on occasion, they were the exception and not the rule. Really, if the previous reviewer is to be perfectly honest, he has only himself to blame for his shiftless ways and deviant hobbies -- which are frankly too shocking to mention in a public forum. Fie and shame on him, say I.

Pirates (Campaign Classics for Rolemaster)
This is a phenominal piece of work--roll playing at it's finest. My brother wrote this book, and even though he is an absolute jerk, the game he has produced is first rate. It will provide you with hours of blissful buccaneering and non-stop riotous laughter. Don't get me wrong: I'm not supporting my spitball brother in the least! He always has been and always will be a guileless worm, but he is nevertheless a fine compliment to our rich heritage of gaming literature. If you can stomach supporting this freak with ill-deserved royalties on his book, buy it now! You won't be disappointed, except maybe by the illustrations, of which he is also a contributing member. Some of them remind me of when we used to play "Pirates" as kids, and he would beat me ruthlessly with a cat o' nine tails he had maid from an old mop. But perhaps, not sharing in this memory with me, you won't be subject to such visceral sufferings at the sight of those pictures as I am. Enjoy!

Memory...
Midnight, not a... never mind! I read this book quite a few years ago, but I read it about fifteen times. I really enjoyed how simple it is. I know I am being childish, but if you compare this book to the Bram Stoker novel, you will see that you don't get any 'big' words in this copy. This copy is of course very short, but expressive! The story is in this book with all of the details (the grisly ones too)! Also, about the book: The big writting makes it easy to read, and the art is amazing. I even asked my grandmother is she could draw the old Count in the second color picture! The images that marked me the most, was Vampire Lucy. It looks so real! Except for the fact that she is a vampire... Anyway, I love it mucho! A must read for those who don't understand Bram and his complications! Check out the other books in this collection too!

Ghostbustin makes me feel good!
Hey, this is the Role Playing Game that followed the Busters in Black (for the ghosts, that is). One of the most successful movie and tv series of all time is followed up with one of the funniest games of all time. What other RPG's actually encourage the players to come up with fantastic, unrealistic ways that they get out of problems? Where else do you dread the undead coming out and singing the Barney song as a form of eternal punishment? This games got it all! So, if you can find it, then go bust some ghosts!

RPG for middle earth
This is an RPG system based on the world of Tolkien's middle earth. It uses a simplified rolemaster system with basic D&D type classes. It uses a level system and magic is well developed and has great flavor. This captures the feel of tolkien and of RPGs well. I would recommend it for anybody who enjoys RPGs and either wants to use middle earth (there are many quality supplements though most are out of print)or new material to incorporate into an existing RPG (as I have done with the material in this product).

A great role-playing game system!
This is one of the best role-playing systems I've ever played. Although it does have a lot of paperwork, it gives great freedom in terms of the creation of worlds and, along with its companions, covers *every* possibility for players.

If "1d6 & you're dead!" is not your style . . .
One of the most open ended systems alive. Creativity, storytelling, art, gore, this is the one. Iron Crown Enterprises also created MERP (Middle Earth Role Playing) with similar rules in the true spirit of J.R.R. Tolken's the hobbit (w/lots of good references for your Tolken research). These materials however, are for adults, as effort is needed to read, digest and present a game that is both acceptable and enjoyable. Great for a collectors item.

Rolemaster 1st, 2nd & Standard System Reviewed
The best FRPG. It is very different from the storyteller style games (such as Vampire & Mage from White Wolf) but this does not make it worse. It is balanced, with lasting appeal and by far the best hand to hand combat system of any game. The magic system is superb almost as good as ars magica. However rather than try to use the many companions get the standard system - the new rules are better integrated and balanced. If you dont need the extra complexity then the boxed set is all you really need.

However never, ever create a frenzied halfling warrior monk with Martial Arts Throws - its just not on :)

P.S. The martial arts system is head and shoulders above other systems.
