Not quite what I expected.
I purchased this book because it was the only one I found that addresses only the topic of jobs and activities after retirement. Most retirement books focus on the financial aspects of retirement. If I had looked at this book in a store, I would not have purchased it. The author shares anecdotes of how some people selected the job or activity they are currently doing in retirement. I expected a much more detailed and serious listing. I do not have a desire to be a clown when I retire.

Mislead
With all respect to the author, he needs to expand his views to see the whole picture. He (or anyone interested in socio/political matters) needs a lesson by Noam Chomsky.

What would Jesus buy? Certainly not this book!
A word of warning, unless you are lost on the Christian right, this book will not appeal to you in the least. Money Matters manages to apply draconian financial rules written some 2000 years ago to a modern economy.

Not what I thought!
This is a small book (approx. 5 x 5) with a listing of inspirational sayings - about 10 words per page. I was looking for something more informative.

The Shadow of the Mills: Working-Class Families in Pittsburgh, 1870-1907 (Pittsburgh Series in Social and Labor History)
Published in Paperback by Univ of Pittsburgh Pr (Txt) (April, 1991)
Author: S. J. Kleinberg
Amazon base price: $19.95
Used price: $3.00
Average review score:

Don't bother with this one.
Kleinberg's book attempts to illustrate the terrible effects of the steel mills on working class families in Pittsburgh. Although her overall point is well-taken, other better books on this topic exist. Perhaps I only noticed it because we were studying it from a quantitative (numbers and statistics) history viewpoint, but her tables and statistics are very badly set up and explained. To put it simply, her numbers often do not add up.

There's a Spirit in the Kitchen: Recipes and Reflections of a 19Th-Century Ghost: Amy Kitchener Speaks to America
Published in Paperback by Galde Press, Inc. (February, 2001)
Authors: Jackie Dashiell and Wanda Sue Parrott
Amazon base price: $16.95
Used price: $9.53
Buy one from zShops for: $12.95
Average review score:

The author has her own agenda apart from cooking.
This isn't a cookbook; this is the author's attempt to preach Rosicrucian mysticism to her readers, for the recipes are at best a peripheral concern. One nagging, recurrent theme throughout Wanda Sue Parrott's book is her belief that the indulgence of one's intuition is superior to the development of one's intellect; more irritating than that, however, are her frequent, hypocritical entreaties that the reader, in her eyes a prospective "kitchen magician", be a "teacher" and not a "preacher", when it's quite obvious that the reader's "conversion" is the author's single-minded goal. If you're interested in nineteenth-century American cuisine, this is not the book for you.

worst text book I own
I am in my second year of graduate school and this is by far the worst textbook I own. The chapters are boring, dense, and extremely difficult to read. Only decent parts were the case studies.
