Beautiful, informative, useful book
I received this book after I got engaged from my mother who ordered it from a Christian book catalog on a lark. I am forever grateful she did! Out of the dozen or so wedding planning books I bought/ received this first chapter of this book was more enlightening and applicable to planning my wedding! Secondly, it is not a book about wedding planning--she starts there and quickly moves on to what matters: the marriage your entering into as a new bride. She touches on dealing with family, merging households, ideas, finances, plans, etc. There is a Christian edge, but not to the point where I think it would dissuade anyone of any other faith or no faith from reading it and gaining insight. It's well-written and practical and definitely the very best bride book you could bestow upon any bride.

Wedding Bells are crashing
As a woman engaged to marry an Air Force fighter pilot, this book was extremely helpful. I'm actually beginning to believe that I'll survive the first year of marriage :-)

Great Book
I haven't been to a wedding in over 15 years. So this book was
extremely helpful - who pays for what, the differences between two people, what to call the in-laws, how to save money.
Very insightful, very funny and practical. I bought one copy when my daughter got engaged and now am buying another one for
my son's fiancee. Well worth the price.

Wow!
I don't know any other word to describe this book but WOW! It is an awsome collection of wonderful, informative and helpful projects. I have found several things in here that I have actually put into use. I would highly recommend this book to anyone!

Great collection of lost early american crafts & trades
I think we are losing our american heritage, with that all of our early ways of life. This book preserves those crafts & trades that could be lost forever with the passing of this generation.

Discovering Another Way
Every Mom should read this book! It is so good that I keep going back to it. I have a 9 month old son and am so thankful to have found this book early in his life so that I can keep refering to it as he grows.

A great book with a positive message for moms!
Lane's book sends a wonderful message to moms-- whether youwork outside the home and wish you could spend more time with yourkids, or you stay at home with your kids full time and sometimes find yourself longing for some adult interaction and extra income, after reading her book you will definitely feel like you have options! The author is obviously a proponent for women, mothers, and children, and after you read the book, you will have the same "Just do it!" attitude that she exudes throughout the book. In addition to learning more about yourself and how to best use your own talents to earn extra income, you will also get some great parenting tips and suggestions for how to raise brighter, happier children. I would highly recommend this book to any mom who has ever thought, "There must be a better way." Read the book! Just do it!!!

Sincere words of wisdom for the 90's!
It's amazing how Lane Nemeth writes what all of us have felt. How frustrating it can be to work away from your children, how difficult it is to discover our own dreams, and yet how wonderful it can be to find a way to work everything out and be there 100% for your family. Her "Learning Moments" clearly state some incredibly valuable tips for all parents, stay-at-home and corporate exec. Her upbeat, optimistic view of entreprenurial challenges force one to think about why they haven't followed their own dreams and made them reality. She offers common sense advice that comes from her experience in building a multi-million dollar company and can apply to any business situation! I could not put it down and will never enter a business situation with the same attitude. A MUST-READ!!! Thank You, Lane, for sharing your knowledge! (Discovery Toys are the best educational products I have ever found for my children!)

From a Latino Financial Planner
The Latino Journey to Financial Greatness is an extraordinary and groundbraking piece of work. This book is by far the most insteresting and inspirational of all the Latino financial books so far written. Believe me! I have read them all. It is a true road map in finding financial and personal greatness. As Barajas writes" the why is more important than the how". It is practical and fun to read. As a Financial Planner, I have seen many of the cultural barriers that Bajaras points out with my clients. I have used the 10 steps with my clients and they all found the process motiving and inspiring. This book is a must read for all the financial consultants that wish to serve the Latino market.

From a Non-Latino
I work in an environment with mostly Latinos. I saw that my fellow co-workers were reading The Latino Journey to Financial Greatness. I asked to borrow a copy and let me tell you, the book is not just for Latinos. I am glad someone has had the courage to write a book like this. I saw myself in many of the limiting money beliefs he talks about. After reading this book, I signed up for my 401k plan, and have started saving money to live a life of financial greatness. His book is not a get rich quick book, like most others. It is about inspiring you to help you make more money to live a great life. All I know is that I have just purchased 3 books and have handed them to my non-Latino family members.

From a Financial Advisor
I just finished reading Louis' book, The Latino Journey to Financial Greatness. The book is extraordinary. I am a financial advisor from Houston, Texas and have been working in the Latino community for over 5 years now. I read so many books on personal finance that I thought no one could specifically address the financial needs of our community. It's thoughtful, inspirational, and just plain honest and practical. I now recommend this book to all my clients. As someone who is currently involved in the financial planning industry, I can honestly tell you that this book will transform our community to financial greatness. I hope the book does well. I will definitely do my part and tell everyone I meet to buy a copy.

very good
I bought this book about a month ago and followed everything the book said.It will take awhile but I believe I will be prepared for Y2K.I took all of my husbands money to buy a power generator.I have been burying food in the backyard.I bought 30 sf freezer and have filled it with Bird Pies.I plan on going out and buying 6 months supply of drinking water next week.I know we are facing armaggedon but with the help of this great book,I think we will be one of the few survivors.

Practical, down-to-earth, easy to read. Great book! :-)
Whether or not the Y2K Millenium Bug turns out to be a frightening fact or fabulous fizzle, emergency preparedness is a topic that everyone should investigate -- especially families with children at home. You never know when sudden financial down turns could make food purchasing difficult, or a severe winter storm could keep your family confined to home for an extended period of time, or even an earthquake could cause the need for emergency essentials on hand. While I'm not sure what I personally feel about the outcome of the Y2K computer problem, I do see the common sense idea of family preparedness to be a good approach for anyone to seriously consider. Having a well-stocked rotating pantry that's replenished from items purchased in bulk and on sale is also a great way to save money on your family's regular expenses (Y2K or not!). I appreciated the author's detailed list of suggestions for items to store ahead (whether you're planning a storage system to last for one week, six months, or a full year+).

My husband even said it was good!
Thank you, thank you for a "woman's perspective on Y2K. It was such an encouragement to learn that there are lots of other women who are frustrated by their husband's cavalier attitude at what could be a significant problem. Fortunately, my husband has started reading it and says that "maybe she has a point . . ." He really is taking it serious now since "60 Minutes" said it could be bad. The recent segment they ran solidified what Karen and other Y2K writers have been saying about this impending crisis.

Thank you for a well-written and helpful resource.

Making My Space
I like the author's use of humor as well as the included lists for organization. It is possible to organize one area at a time. I have read Alexandria Stoddard in the past and like how this author incorporates her ideas especially for the Decompression Chamber. I live in a one room apartment so I can develop my own Cozy Corner.
This book is more an advanced course in organization than other books I have used in the past. This previous knowledge is often assumed. The book also has another problem common to books on organization. Many of us rent and for that reason cannot add built-ins to where we live.

AZURE Your Way to an Organized, Comfortable Home
Written in a conversational style, Dr. Bishop guides us through a delightful process of decluttering and organizing our home environments--to Assess, Zone, Unload, Rearrange & Enjoy. Chapters address creating organized rooms and work and storage spaces throughout the home. This comprehensive manual is especially valuable for the numerous checklists for project planning and for documenting important family and household information. Also includes extensive, useful Resources, Apprendix, and Bibliography sections.

If reading from beginning-to-end is not your style, start by learning Dr. Bishop's philosophy of AZURE-ing (p.340-41) and move to Chapter 4 to create your own Personal Decompression Chamber. Then, in your personal care retreat, read the remaining chapters that will guide you in the process of organizing your other home environments, and simplifying your life to enjoy it more!

Solid, useful, and highly recommended ideas
Household Winners For Working Women: Your Personal Organizational Tool Kit To Declutter & Design A Comfortable Home is a highly practical and "user friendly" guide for keeping one's home free of useless encumbrances and enhancing a cozy, liveable space in which to better enjoy life. Written specifically for working women with limited time for housework, individual chapters address everything from an easy-to-access closet, to choosing groceries that offer maximum nutrition and delicious preparation with minimum fuss, to car cleaning and car jacking prevention tips, Household Winners For Working Women is packed cover to cover with solid, useful, and highly recommended ideas, suggestions, and advice.

Good but some stuff is very common sense.
I am already an organized person but am always looking for ways to improve and this book was slightly helpful, but many things seem to me to be common sense.

Most Helpful Book I've Read........
next to Flylady's book and her website. This book gives real practical advice, page after page, and I've read a lot of organizing books! It is extremely helpful for mothers with children. If I were to only have one organizing book, this would definitely be it. I highly recommend it.

Totally Organized!
This is by far the best book on household management that I have ever read! Some of Bonnie McCullough's ideas would take more time than I have or choose to spend cleaning, but she also offers a number of very practical, time-saving tips that I have implemented into my own life.

Essential for any professional assisting a Family Business
Outstanding work and an easy read. Understanding the many dynamics that can and often do take place in a family business is very critical. The family members as well as the advisers need to be familiar with the challenges and issues they are sure to face. This work should be required reading for any professional that assists family businesses. I will give a copy of this enlightening work to all my family business clients.

A valuable book for understanding family business dynamics -
In my practice, as a management consultant who specializes in assisting financially troubled companies through times of crisis, I have frequently encountered business decisions that are made on the basis of family considerations having little to do with sound business practices. Koenig's practical advise and code of conduct for family businesses should be required reading for anyone involved in guiding a family enterprise

A must read for the non-family member of a family business!
In a former life I was a non-family member of senior management for a family owned and operated business. If I would have had access too and read the material Dr. Koenig presents in this book then, I would look much younger now! This book makes me see how much more effective I could have been by simply understanding the impact that family decisions had on business decisions. I couldn't understand then that simple issues like Thanksgiving Dinner Plans can have a great impact on things like Strategic Plans. The common sense displayed in dealing with such a huge volume of material made for easy reading and more important, easy application. I recommend this book for anyone trying to assist a family in making their company what they want it to be. G Ransdell President/CEO AEI Environmental, Inc.

VERY BASIC
This is a very very basic book on organizing your home. If you were just beginning a system of organization, didn't know where to start at all, or had not read another book about organization; then this might the book for you.

If, however, you are like myself- fairly organized and looking for a few hints and pointers and possibly some better ideas of ways to organize, you can skip this book. Personally I suggest to my friends that they consider 'Confessions of a Happily Organized Housewife' by Deniece Schofield. (Both her books are well worth the money!)

So- here is my opinion: IF you have never organizined before this is a very non threatening book with some great ideas for organizing various parts of your home. The author does a great job of explaining how to sort through things for importance, how to keep a system going once it is in place, and ideas of how to organize what you do keep. I just find it a VERY BASIC book. If you are already somewhat organized in your life or have already read some books on this topic, you can probably skip this book.

It works!
A very useful book to gain control of my home. So many helpful ideas to manage and keep my home in order.

How to Organize Your Entire House and more
"This book shares all the information you will need to create a successful, easy-to-maintain system for your family. By learning the basic skills of an organized parent, you can react in a calm professional manner so that you control your household, rather than allowing it to control you." ~Debbie Williams

If your home looks like a hurricane just hit and there is no storm in sight, this book might help you finally tackle your organizational challenges. If you just have a few things out of place, here or there, then this will give you a few basic ideas you can implement in your organizational wars.

My mother's idea of organizing was to put everything in my room in the middle of the floor and let me sit and organize it for hours on end. Even after all this training, I still occasionally find myself in the middle of some disorganized, creative whirlwind.

There are times when you might be more in the mood to organize than at other times. To use those to the best advantage, read this book! It is really about more than just putting away clutter. I love her ideas about writing down items you run out of on "inventory" sheets hanging in various rooms. It saves running to the other room to find that pen and paper and ...oops, you already forgot what you were going to write down. This is a great time saver.

Debbie Williams presents an action plan:

1. Let's Get it Together -You will finally have ideas for how to sort through the items in your house. I like her idea about organizing one room at a time. It will give you a sense of satisfaction to see your home changing one room at a time.

2. Home Management 101 - A great section on managing paper clutter. I take ideas about sorting mail very seriously these days. One idea I discovered that saved me a ton of time sorting mail, was to get a P.O. Box. That way, I only get mail once a week for the most part and I take time all at once to sort through everything and organize bills, etc. As Debbie says: "Did you know that eighty percent of what you file is never looked at again."

3. Conquering Common Clutter - It is very easy to organize your closets. The author gives ideas for various ways to organize various items. I used her system to organize my clothes into various sections so it is easy to decide on formal/casual, etc. I like her ideas on "rules about inside/outside toys" and "one toy rule" to keep toys put away when not in use. Her "conquering kitchen clutter" was enlightening. I finally purchased a "chore chart" and put it on the front of the refrigerator. Want to remove some of that art on the front of the refrigerator? The author has some ideas about how to organize your children's creative offerings.

4. The Organized Parent - Ever considered organizing your car? This chapter has ideas about mobile desks, diaper bag checklists, creating a traveling nursery, creating stress-free holidays and even ideas on how to save money when ordering Christmas cards.

5. Office Management 101 - This situation is often a very highly specialized organization task, however most of us need the same basic items. Debbie gives ideas on how to consider the needs of all the people in your family who will be using this area.

6. From Here to There: Effective Time Management - This chapter really makes you more aware of the reality of priorities. Debbie encourages you to define what is most important in your life and schedule time for work, family AND yourself. She ends the chapter with a discussion about goal planning and the difference between must, should and would.

7. It's A Dirty Job, But ...- How to organize bathrooms, complete spring cleaning. Her ideas about freshening up pillows and comforters really do work and save drycleaner bills.

8. More Help for the Organizationally Challenged - A list of books with ISBN numbers so they are easy to look up at Am land. There is also a list of fun organizing products you can shop for online.

Throughout the book, the author gives Bright Ideas that are very helpful. One idea that has helped me be more organized is just getting a big black trash bag and walking through the house now and then. I did this for years and finally I can hardly find anything I want to give away. It has helped me keep the clutter down and it is less painful to get rid of your precious possessions a little at a time. After a few years, you start looking forward to donating items to good causes.

A cute book that is a fast-read so you can get right to all that organizing!

One of The Best...
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of Keep What You Own, by Adam Starchild (or whatever his real name is).

Although the publishers of this book (Paladin Press) are perhaps best known for their more radical, esoteric titles, Keep What You Own is actually a fairly conservative book when it comes to asset protection advice. It shows you the pros as well as the cons of most methods it covers, which the majority of books on this subject completely fail to do.

From Nevada Corporations to Offshore Trusts, most of the well-known methods of asset protection are covered in this book, and usually in fairly good depth. Despite having already read several books on asset protection in the past, Starchild actually brings up some extremely good points that many other books fail to mention. Some of his insights on Nevada Corporations were especially eye opening.

Although not an attorney, Starchild has obviously done his homework. There are a few asset protection methods you can tell that he is obviously biased towards (Swiss Annuties for example), but for the most part he provides a very unbiased look at each method of asset protection, and clearly explains why (or why not) it might be the right vehicle for you.

On the downside, the book is obviously in need of an update (it was originally published in 1995), although the vast majority of the methods he describes have changed little since the original publication. Also, he seems to pepper the book with references to companies that you have the distinct impression he is financially linked to. Unfortunately, writing under an assumed pen name does not add to his credibility.

On the whole though, Keep What You Own is one of the better asset protection books I have read. It would be great to see an updated version of this title, but 95% of it is still applicable to today's laws. Before you buy in to any of the more questionable asset protection schemes that you see advertised, you would do well to get a copy of this book. It reveals the good, the bad, and the ugly, when it comes to asset protection strategies.

The book just gets more relevant with each passing year
The fundamentals haven't changed, and news events just make this book more relevant each year. Until the insane lawsuit trend stops, it is ordinary honest people who are at risk of losing their assets. Starchild's book addresses a number of safe, conservative techniques to gain some degree of protection - protection that is not always available through insurance

One of the best experts on offshore topics.
An offshore haven is simply a country other than your own. To an American, it's anywhere you bank outside of the U.S. Why invest in offshore havens? Because when you invest outside your own country, you are no longer tied to its restrictive financial laws, and can protect your assets, save taxes and build your wealth easier.

Most of us have been hoodwinked into thinking that offshore havens are illegal, too risky, or otherwise unworthy of consideration. Don't believe it. Financial expert Adam Starchild will dispel myths and misconceptions about offshore banking and reveal how you can:

Achieve total secrecy and and financial privacy
Transfer your money offshore, and keep it safe from lawsuits, creditors, the IRS, etc.
Use offshore havens to legally avoid, defer or minimize taxes
Invest globally and build your wealth
Pick the offshore haven that best meets your objectives
Choose the right offshore bank and maintain an account -- easily and safely
Do business offshore -- and reap extraordinary benefits
And more!
