A concise guide to your 401K
This short book covered more than I thought it would, a must read if you are considering a 401k plan or are ready to retire.

Great help with financial planning whether you are 22 or 62
Ms. Rowland does a great job answering just about every question imaginable when it comes to dealing with your 401K plan. There is advice for getting started, switching jobs, planning beneficiaries, actually retiring, taking loans out against your 401k...everything. The book is written in a series of 2 page articles she lists as "steps" so if you want to skip around you can. While a little of the material is dated as a result of the recent tax changes, it is mostly in regards to amounts an individual is able to contribute. I felt I was fairly knowledgeable on this topic before I started reading but I found it pretty interesting and worth the time.

excellent book
This book is excellent! She explains, in-depth and in easy to understand language, exactly what a 401(k) plan is and how to use it to plan for retirement. Her book clearly explains the role of the 401(k) in retirement.

Short and easy to read
The book was nice and short and easy to read.

Financial Literacy 101
This book is an engaging reference tool. It is more than information on how to pay for college. It is a beginning step to understanding financial literacy and preparing for your financial future.

Chapter One sets the framework for the book and begins expanding the readers world view on money in general. Understanding the basic difference between income and wealth is the first step towards financial literacy.

The insight that is given in terms of how you negotiate and relate for preparing for college and working with financial aid officer can easily be transferred to relating to the bank or any other financial institution.

There is more to this book than is obvious to naked eye.

Dr. LaVeist is using college entrance preparation as an opportunity to introduce his reader to wider concepts on money and basic finances.

Very entertaining
I enjoyed this book. The authors are two brothers who weaved a story about getting their sons ready for college into a book about college financial aid, which is usually a very boring topic. Very creative! They managed to entertain AND educate.

Good overview of estate planning
Easy to read and to learn basics of estate planning. Particularly liked the graphical examples showing the flow of money with different type of trusts used. I have read other estate planning books, and the graphical method was the easiest to grasp versus just written text examples (the old saying "a picture is worth a thousand words"). Great book to learn the basics.

Best basic estate/retirement planning book I've seen.
Though I had the honor of reviewing this book before it was published, I can say it is an outstanding resource for those looking toward retirement and estate planning. Stewart Welch takes a complicated and very important subject and boils it down into understandable bites of information. The book provides the reader with explanations of various estate planning and retirement planning ideas, analyzes the applicability to the individual situation and leaves the reader with sufficient information to make an informed decision. Congratulations Stewart.

Excellent summary of general and specific "tools" to apply
Outstanding information that gives just enough detail to guide you through each of the "tools" that can be used for estate planning, without boring you to death with examples. You won't learn the exact how-to details, but the author suggests how to take the next steps, whether it be wills, trusts, or more elaborate schemes such as off-shore accounts. See NoLo Press for cheap do-it-yourself will and trust software.

Readable , practical and ..maybe the best...
In my humble opinion ,this maybe one of the best books of Finance... It is practical, direct to the point, the examples are clearly stated so that you can follow the concepts and central ideas and most important : you really can understand everything in an easy way....no sweat here..
You can apply almost everything in this book to your daily practice. No matter your years of experience , FFE will refresh you and reinforce your knowledge. I always have this book on my desk for reference.

Excellent for Corporate Finance practitioners
‚Finance for Executives' is invaluable for everybody who needs to analyse companies and wants to know whether investment, financing or business decisions create value. It is written very clearly and is therefore easy to understand. It offers plenty of practically relevant examples, mostly based on one company which is being analysed in its different aspects throughout the whole book. Moreover, every chapter finishes with review problems (including solutions) and useful references. Some chapters offer appendices with mathematical proofs or additional in-depth analysis. - You will not be satisfied with this book if you are looking for a scientific, theoretical text. However, your expectations will be exceeded if you are a practitioner who wants to make an impact in a consulting or investment banking environment. - What does make this book so special? After working through it, you will be able to easily put into practice what you read.

Great overview in simple terms and easy to follow
This book is great as an introduction to the major concepts of finance. If you are looking for an advanced refernce book, this is not the one. But if you want to refresh your memory, or want a quick overview of concepts and methods, I can't think of a better book.

Awsome Book
This book gives the basic blue print on how to be better stewards over our finances. The author puts a spirtual perspective on how God wants us to use our finances to advance his kingdom, as well as reducing financial worry. God has certainly annointed this man with the wisdom needed concerning this issue.

A Joy to read containing a wealth of helpful information.
The world of Finance has been a subject that is complicated to me so I was wonderfully surprised to find Ray Linder's book not only interesting and understandable but a pleasure to read. I was especially pleased with his references to Scriptures. and "helps" for the different personality types. It was a joy to read and contains a wealth of information to help you to better understand the financial world.

An easily accessible book with sound, practical advice.
Ray Linder writes a book that is not only interesting and at times humorous but is easily understandable by the lay person. He makes an often dull subject come alive and packs it full of practical advice on putting ones financial house in order and keeping it that way. Ray points out the common traps we all fall into and offers solutions that are "do-able". Acknowledging that conflicts surrounding money are often the greatest sources of friction between husbands and wives, Ray addresses this problem by explaining how different personalities handle money issues in very different ways. While using sound spiritual principles of money management, he also takes into account that we need to enjoy life and encourages making allowance for the things we like to do. I would recommend this book highly to anyone wishing to be free of the constant tyranny finances often play in our lives.

Financial Market Analytics
Published in Hardcover by Quorum Books (30 January, 1999)
Author: John L. Teall
Amazon base price: $99.95

Excellent Book
One of the truly interesting books in financial analytics. I studied under Dr. Teall at Pace, NYC and he brings his amazing and lucid teaching style to the book. The chapters are well presented and the book is written in an extremely readable style. Moreover chapters 4 and 5 are really good and gave me a good understanding of the material. All in all a very good book that every MBA student should read.

Great Overview!
This book is clear, concise and comprehensive. The book provides a good overview of the various aspects of financial analytics. It served me well in reviewing matrix algebra as it applies to finance - variance-covariance analysis.

A Nice and Comprehensive Text in Finance
I found the text Financial Market Analytics useful and comprehensive. In addition, it is presented in a nice way, which allows readers to leverage their previous understandings.

Apart from the presented theories/discussions the text provides numerous computational examples in a systematic and thoughtful fashion, helping enhance those topics. Both undergraduate and graduate students will benefit from the text. Although spending most the time talking about essential matters, the book still gives room for further investigating for those numbercrunchers with computing innate knacks.

I strongly recommend the text to students and practitioners who regard finance as the professional fields, at present or in the future. I myself thank the author, Prof. John Teall for contributing such a good text.

The Finish Rich Workbook : Creating a Personalized Plan for a Richer Future

Excellent Guide for Learning
This book will educate you from ignorance to near-expert levels by simply following along with the step-by-step sytem outlined so simple in its pages. It is every bit as powerful and effective for its subject-matter as Tom Leonardi's "Secrets of Sensual Lovemaking" and Clint Arthur's video guide "New Sex Now". I would highly recommend that readers get this book if they are serious about mastering their personal finances, and get the other two if they are desiring improvement in their personal relationship with a loved-one. These are all very great products which are e-z to use, simple to learn, and very effective.

Perfect for those who need a simple, clear financial plan
If you already read financial books, this isn't for you (you'll already know everything in this book) But for the rest of us, this is perfect- a clear, easy and, most importantly, personalized plan for achieving financial goals and staying out of debt, achieving economic security and retiring comfortably. Bach's examples are inspiring and he has tips for controlling expenses - from waiting 48 hours before buying anything that costs $100.00 or more to showing how saving as little as 3.33 a day can add up to significant savings over time. His graphs and tables are very easy to follow and his worksheets are equally simple.
Perfect for anyone wanting to save more, from students just out of college to families in a budget crunch.

Balancing YOUR values and money management
We gave this book to each of our 7 children. Within a week, one child had reported back that their family had discovered how they could save $1500 a year using the principles found in the latte factor.
This book teaches money management skills that are based on one's personal values. It takes one through excercises designed to help one identify what values are important, and then based on those values develop financial goals. For example, if missionary work is an important goal, this book will help one develop a plan for saving towards that goal. Mr. Bach emphasizes that YOUR values should drive your financial planning.

An excellent guide to investing and how the annuity fits in.
With all the controversies of variable annuities today, Michael does an excellent job of showing the appropriateness of the annuity. The book was written at the basic level for the investor, capturing an informative overview of the many different investment options such as stocks, bonds and mutual funds and how the annuity fits into the investor's overall investment strategy. I would highly recommend this book to all investors!

Excellent book...
I've read many different points of view about the value of VAs -- this book explains them clearly. Lane's book shows how tax deferral wroks. He takes you step-by-step so you can see how all the parts relate and why. Read chapters 5 "Suitable Uses of VAs" and ch 18 "Analyzing the Payout" and you will know more than most advisors. Great book congrads.

A great guide for financial planners and end consumers.
Having been in this business for 5 years it's nice to find a refreshing look at the real uses of variable annuities and when they make the most sense. Michael is very enlightening in his approach to when a variable annuity makes sense and for whom. He also is very concise in his description of all the factors which contribute to determining the above. In an industry which is muddled with both the pros and cons of variable annuities this book is a straight shot to doing what is in the best interest of the client.
