I had done a beginners course on accounts before and left that course more confused about the subject than before. I was still confused about debit and credit, double-entries etc. I found this book and it solved my problems. This book will help you as well. It is very clear. It is very structured. Each sentence makes sense. The book is a delight to read (if the term can be used in conjunction with accounts) and I can recommend it without reservations.

As a practicing Certified Financial Planner, I find that what most people are desperately seeking is sound and objective financial advice. This book accomplishes that goal by solidly grounding the financial planning process in the timeless principles found in scripture.

This box set has proven to be an invaluable tool for me. I work with Wall Street clients, but do not have a Finance background. In my role it is critical that I understand the language of high finance and the nature of my client's work as well as they do. Without the solid foundation of knowledge to build on, this is extremely difficult. The Adkins & Matchett set has given me that foundation.

I have found these books to be extremely helpful in teaching me the skills used by Financial Analysts quickly and in easy-to-understand language. Because they are "workbooks" with practice exercises the content really makes sense. I've read many books on Accounting and Finance -- including the MBA series -- but it's just not the same. Without the element of interaction, there is nothing to reinforce what you've read. I find doing the exercises clarifies the concepts and helps it to all really "gel" in my mind. In addition, the content is fun and engaging. Very unlike the staunch, institutional manner one might associate with Finance. The Accounting book talks you through all the basics and terminology you need to truly understand financial statements. I was amazed at how much I learned from the Excel book - especially all of the keyboard shortcuts. The HP calculator has always been a big mystery, but after reading Dr. Toy's book, I feel like I really understand its many uses.

If you work in any area of Finance, this box set should sit on your desk as a reference. I refer to it all the time.

I wouldn't adopt a special needs child without reading this book. The authors lay out the highly-complicated world of adoption subsidy in a manner that is easy for a novice parent to follow. Chances are your social worker will probably not know much about adoption subsidy or at least won't have it all right so it is crucial that adoptive parents read this book carefully. You can take the information in this book and use it to advocate for your child's subsidy and service rights. The authors also provide important policy decisions and laws that will help anyone who has to go back and fight for subsidy and services after their adoption is complete. I plan to keep this book by my side as I negotiate my own adoption subsidy agreement and I am telling every prospective adoptive parent I know to read it.

An informative "must read" for families considering any form of adoption as a means to building a family. Includes detailed information and positive affirmations to those embarking on the often tempestuous journey toward adoption.

A very straight-forward and easy-to-read book on the long-term financial benefits of investing in 401k's. This book would be very beneficial to share with employees in a situation where you want to improve participation in a 401k plan. The authors' thorough knowledge of financial planning definitely shows through in this book

I used this as a basis for information and study while writing my master's thesis on the telecommunicaitons industry revolution. If you are looking into stocks, or interested in who-owns-who, this is one of the most interesting resources I have ever found - forget the magazine stand!

Industries included in this reference work include agricultural production, coal mining, ship and boat building, electrical contractors, fruit and vegetable preserving and specialty food manufacturing, and furniture and related product information. The information listed on these industries is in numerical format and includes revenue (such as net sales, rents, roytalties) operating costs (such as taxes paid, advertising, operating margin) and selected financial ratios (such as total asset turnover, inventory turnover, cash flow to total debt). ....

The book is divided into two halves. The first teaches the reader about inflation, the money supply and the workings of the Federal Reserve System. The second half encourages the reader to employ a stockpiling strategy. The first half of the book is truly outstanding and is a MUST read for anyone seeking to understand investing. I strongly recommend the first 100 pages to everyone with money on their mind. I found the stockpiling strategy to be less useful.
