It's so refreshing to read a business book with real substance. So many books published in the last years introduce or exploit a new buzzword, have three pages of interesting content, and then go on for another 300 pages of filler. As a result, I've become reluctant to read business books published recently.

But 'Working Solo' goes beyond buzzwords. Over the next few years Terri Lonier's book and her ideas will be an extremely valuable resource in efforts of many people searching freedom and financial success with their own home business.

This book is a gem. Going solo--in a company with your home PC--has never been such an attractive workplace option as it is right now. 'Working Solo' is the perfect guide for the new breed of entrepreneurs who will create the new products, markets, and services for the 21st century.

WORKING SOLO is great! Budding entrepeneurs take note! Terri Lonier has compiled, written and devoted herself to the new business owner's lack of knowledge of BUSINESS by doing the work of several people at once. If you need resources and help with your vision statement or business plan get WORKING SOLO. All you need is here to be read and digested, then acted upon. She does more by including two appendixes for more resources. And, check out the last chapter: THE FUTURE IS HERE. This is not a magic "solve your life problems by going into business book". It's real, vibrant and helpful. Get it!

Your Divorce Your Dollars by Achillea Davis is (a certified financial planner specializing in divorce and separation issues) is a thoroughly "user friendly" financial planning and self-help guide which is especially intended for anyone involved in a divorce or extended separation. Written in clear, no-nonsense, simple terms ideal for the non-specialist general reader, Your Divorce Your Dollars competently and expertly covers the five common models of divorce with their attendant money issues; the process of starting over with new financial realities in a single world; the financial aspect of remarriage preparations; taking the financial needs of children into account, and more. Enhanced with an appendix of extremely useful sample worksheets for calculating one's net worth, income, as well as expense estimates, Your Divorce Your Dollars is very highly recommended, clearly essential reading for anyone having to deal with the financial aspects of a dissolving marriage.

If you are considering getting a divorce, or even just separating from your partner, you should really have a look at this book. It tells you straight up what you can expect financially and gives great advice on avoiding some of the mistakes people often make. There's good advice in here even for people who have already divorced.

Ballietts' text is a well written and easy to read guide on financial planning. The chapter on Lifestyle Planning offers advice on planning and investing far ahead of need, determing your investment goals (the kid's college or your retirement) and the protection of your assets and wealth. Common sense approaches to 401k and Keogh planning, as well as, the traditional IRA and Roth IRA offer a clear path to maximizing one's financial planning and minimizing one's tax burden. Calculations on planning for a child's college, your retirement, a child's first home, IRA disbursements, career training, an early retirement fund and long term care are all illustrated in easy to read charts. Gene and Dee Balliett discuss probate avoidance, tax-free investments and trusts. The section on investment strategies offer a review of prominent financial planners and investors, such as, Investor's Business Daily's founder William O'Neil, Warren Buffet, and John C. Bogel (Vanguard Group). Anyone looking at life insurance policies will find the section on term versus whole life thought provoking. Estate planning is discussed in a practical format that covers not only the obvious planning for one's heirs, but offers a 'what to do list' for the survivor. After reading this book, I ordered nine additional copies for my parents, my brothers and sisters, and a nephew. Sometimes, good advice is the next best thing to love that you can offer those you care about.

There is such emphasis on the importance of financial planning these days, but virtually everything I've read has been too complicated or technical for me to understand. But when I read "Vision of Riches," everything from getting out of debt to practical and effective estate planning was easy for me to understand and I've put some of Dee and Gene's tips into practice. For the first time in my life, I'm getting my finances under control, and I believe I have started a healthy savings plan that will allow me to enjoy a comfortable retirement. Thank goodness, someone finally took the time to explain this stuff in simple terms. Thank you Dee and Gene.

This is a great book for anyone who want to save money while at the same time grow your personal investments. There are some great tips within the pages of this terrific advise filled book. Personally I have learned to put away more money each months with this tips and leaned to cut my expenses and grow my portfolio. A definite buy.

Getting the background information on financial aid can earn a student far more than the cost of this book and quickly!

I like the section on how colleges award financial aid.

It's also an easy read, well laid out and designed with pre-printed highlights in blue "tip" boxes.

while accounting can never be truly exciting, Ms. weiss has found a way to atleast make it bearable. as a business student pursuing an mba in accounting, weiss helps bring everything together in a clear and concise manner. enjoy!

THIS GUIDE IS EXCELLENT FOR THE USE OF THE PRESENTATION OF GENERAL-PURPOSE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS. IT GIVES DETAIL EXPLANATIONS OF HOW INFORMATION SHOULD BE PRESENTED. THE EXAMPLES GIVEN ARE WRITTEN IN A WAY THAT YOU CAN UNDERSTAND WITHOUT HAVING TO READ INTO THE EXPLANATION. UNLIKE SOME OF THE AICPA BOOKS THAT ARE OUT THERE, WHERE IT READS LIKE IT IS IN SOME OTHER LANGUAGE BESIDES ACCOUNTING. IT IS A VERY PRACTICAL GUIDE TO INCREASE THE CORRECT PRESENTATION OF YOUR FINANCIAL STATEMENTS AND ALSO AID IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF CORRECT ACCOUNTING FUNCTIONS FOR YOU GOVERNEMTNAL SITUATION.

Yep, indeed I have read a good portion of this 2 volume set. Now under normal circumstances I'd advise not operating heavy machinery or driving a car after some serious FASBY reading. However, when you're trying to crank out some financials and you've got a real problem with how to allocate periodic costs or how to present the loss from discontinued operations, these babies become your best friends! As an MBA student who is concentrating his studies in the field of accounting, I have found FASB's to be a most valuable resource when researching. I highly recommend this source book.
