A must read on SFAS 141 and 142
If you need to comply with SFAS 141 and 142, you will want to read this book. The authors understand these standards inside and out. The book's coverage is practical, thorough and written in easy to understand language (which is important because the changes outlined in SFAS 141 and 142 are far reaching and complex.) The best part of this book is that in addition to providing compliance guidance for SFAS 141 & 142, it also shows you how to apply the standards. This is key! I also found the book helpful on showing me how to identify and value intagible assests which is still a somewhatnew area for me.

Great coverage of new SFAS 141 and 142
This is timely and excellent coverage of SFAS 141 and 142. The authors' explanation are clear and complete. I would recommend this book to everyone involved in valuation.

Best Valuation Book on the Market
This book is a superb and thorough introduction to fixed income theory and modeling. It is both logical and intuitive. A must for every student of finance.

This book contains all the essentials on Fixed Income
Out of all the books I have read on Fixed Income Analytics, this one is the best. It gives you all the essentials that one needs to know for further study and research. This book uses only the suffucient amount of mathematics with tremendous practical examples making it useful to both who wants mathematical treatment and the one who prefers to know the practical applications(like traders etc). I have no doubt in my mind that this book have been written by the experts in this subject.

Practical Application
Belmont has done an exceptional job at communicating the importance and practical application of risk measures for today's business environment. The book offers the reader a thorough assessment of what banking executives face everyday and how best to manage these risk and regain the control necessary for any banking executive to grow its business without putting into jeopardy the best interest of its shareholders, which in no small measure is a testament to Belmont's clear understanding of the challenges faced by most executives and the demands they face in terms of managing near term performance goals with long term stability.

Essential Reading for Risk Managers Implementing BIS 2
Given the dual pressures banks face from regulators and investors to address the challenges of Basle 2 and create shareholder value, this book is highly relevant and timely. It provides practical, concise and real world guidance to any senior bank executive seeking to add value in his institution by optimizing the usage of economic capital. Economic capital based performance measures are clearly presented and illustrated with real life examples. Additionally, anyone implementing Basle 2 must ask how this can be done and what value it creates for the organization. This book provides the answers.

The book quickly gives a real world context the value of risk management information to bank CEOs, CFOs, institutional security analysts, and investors. It then goes on to demonstrate theoretically and practically how risk management information can be used to address key strategic decisions faced by senior bank management.

Any risk manager, CFO, or CEO in a financial institution should find this book valuable if they seek to create shareholder value in their institution. Similarly, anyone seeking to rise to the executive suite must understand the issues addressed in this well written book.

Don't wait too long to do retirement planning.
I have worked and socialized with many doctors who I thought were well off when it came to retirement savings. When they approached 60 to 65 years old, they couldn't afford to retire and maintain the lifestyle they wanted. How sad! I don't want to end up that way.

Great book! I wish they had written it sooner.
This book had everything I need to plan my retirement. Easy to read and informative, I have already recommended it to many of my colleagues. Thanks to the authors for recognizing the need for such a book for lawyers like myself.

Whale of a Good Story
Several members of my family are futures traders and this book captures the business perfectly. Also a good history, beginning before the Civil War and working its way toward the downfall of Long Term Capital Management. The author does a good job of mixing history, the markets and some great anecdotes together so you never get bored reading it. Valuable piece of history and worth the price.

Thorough and Entertaining
This book is a history of the futures and derivatives markets from the 1850s to the present. It painstakingly traces the history of the markets as they developed in Chicago and later in New York. What I liked was that the author mixed a good amount of the institutional history with stories about trading scandals to keep the reader interested and entertained. The markets showed that they were always two-faced -- dealing with the public and also for themselves. They got more mature after futures and options were introduced in the 1970's but were still seeing scandal until the late 1990s when the narrative ends. The book also discusses the battle between the markets and the government along the way and it is an interesting part of the story. Makes you wonder whether Enron would have happened if there had been stronger regulators in place. A highly recommended book since it is the first history that I know of that covers this material. Seems a vital part of American history that has been overlooked until now.

OKC CPA
I am very impressed with this reference book. It has saved me valuable time in my accounting practice. I have turned to it a number of times this past year, and so far Warren Ruppel has never let me down. He seems to have a nack for presenting a clear and thorough understanding of each topic in a concise manner. I also recommend accounting material written by Rhett Harrell.

Continues to be the top book for Governmental GAAP.
I've been using the GAAP for Governments book for the past three years and not only does it continue to impress me, but it keeps getting better. It is complete, easy-to-read, and has been instrumental in helping me and my associates in our practice. I've read similar books on Governmental GAAP but no other book seems to explain these difficult topics in such a clear and complete manner. This is one of the most valuable books I have every owned.

a complete approach for inheritors
Ms. Perry (the GO FISH heiress) has written a book that covers both the emotional and the financial sides of getting an inheritance. I found her advise on both sides to be sensitive and helpful. I recommend reading this book before giving or coming into an inheritance.

This is a great book!
This book was wonderful. My father died 10 months ago and I just read this book. I wish I had found it earlier. The subjects discussed in this book are hard to share with others. Finally I realized there were others out there that felt as I have. I am going to be purchasing copies of this book to give to my attourney, the funeral director and my appraisor. My hope is that they will give them away to someone who is just starting to go through this processes. If you are an inheritor you need this book! It is also good for anyone to know information about estate planning.

Excellent book to clarify fundamental financial concepts
As a former student of Dr. Parks, I say this book has demystified more basic financial and economic theories than anything I've read before. Master this book and you'll never be intimidated by Wall Street Journal's C section ever again.

Excellent book. Some economics may help the reader.
This is a very informative book on the workings of the U.S. economy. The first time I read it, there were some topics that were difficult to grasp. After taking some Jr. college-level economics and finance classes, the book made much more sense. Also, I found it helped me better understand today's economic news. For example, are deficits always inflationary? In addition, Dr. Parks exposes the all-to-prevalent lack of economic theory displayed by our politicians and economic advisors.

A Most Valuable Tool
I highly recommend this book. In my work as a psychotherapist, I meet many women who have not yet come to terms with with their personal financial demons. A Woman's Book of Money & Spiritual Vision has provided me with a wonderful tool with which I can help them begin. The book is written in a personal style. The author shares her own story as she presents questions and worksheets to help the reader explore the dynamic of money in her history and in her day-to-day life. It can be used alone or with a group to help uncover the myths and facts behind one's financial attitudes and behaviors.

Women and Money: Despite Rumors, Made for Each Other
Rosemary Williams looks at money--crazy-making, delicious, necessary money--from every angle. She does the same with women's belief systems. Money is simple; it's our baroque beliefs that keep us from it. "Money is never neutral," she says. "It triggers powerful emotions and conflicting messages--especially for women. The 'money messages' we were taught can pop up at any moment, in decisions large and small."

This is "a workshop in a book" because that's how the author does her research. Her experience during years of leading women through the thorny underbrush of our misconceptions and false information could save the rest of us years of struggle and want.

A former banker and financial planner, Williams has constructed her book like a diary. This is one book meant to be written in, the pages covered in notes. I found that a relief ; somehow breaking that "rule" of my father's gave me the idea that other childhood "rules" were also about to be replaced by grownup liberations. It also called to mind the writing we do in school workbooks in the act of learning.

Something that may come as a surprise, says Williams, is that money and spirituality are not at odds. There are prayers and quotes scattered through this book. Somehow beginning this work by saying "Holy One, Sustainer of all things, give me the courage to look at my financial life with clear sight...." is a wonderfully centering process.

With "Women and Money" women can lessen their fear through dispelling ignorance, which is surely the root of all evil.
