Heinein did not write this!
Agreed. Mr. Heinlein died in 1988. This book's publishing date is 1997. I have never heard of such a text by R.A.H.

This author of this book is not the science fiction writer.
Dear Amazon staff:

This book does not appear to be a work of Robert A. Heinlein, the famous science fiction author. The author is Robert E. Heinlein, and my guess is that this is another person entirely. I am an expert on the works of R. A. Heinlein, and this title is not among his works. Of that I am completely sure.

Sincerely,

good answers
My daughter-in-law got my wife and I this book for Christmas one year(1983 or 4 something like that)It is very good book for putting all your papers togother in case something goes wrong and you are not around to tell somebody. We had no organization with our important papers and this book made it so easy. I was hoping to purchase some for my children to keep their records in . Maybe it will be published again soon.

majorly disorganized
This book is grrrrrrrrrreeeeaaaattttt! For all of us who have stacks of important papers to file when we have more time, but never get around to it, because we have no time, this is the ideal book. Very easy to use. I leave it in the kitchen, so it's always on hand to place important papers/information into. When we leave to go on vacation, I give it to a family member so in case of emergency they'll be able to find our personal, household, work, insurance, etc. information. It also helped my husband and me to know where to find our individual and shared financial, insurance and personal information (emergency and otherwise- passports, marriage certificates, driver's license numbers, credit card numbers, etc.).

Very good coverage of China
Professor Haley has edited an excellent compilation of chapters on Asian business -- I thought the chapters on China, its business environments, problems and opportunities, and industrial restructuring were particularly useful. A valuable addition to the genre.

Excellent and practical insights
Very good review of the major Asian economies and business concerns in these regions. Especially useful as businesses enter China after its WTO entry and ponder new relationships with post-crisis SE Asia.

I am back on track !!!
Quite simply, this book saved me thousands of dollars in interest, hundreds of dollars in attorney fees; taught me how to negotiate with my creditors; read, understand and clean up my credit reports; keep good records; but most of all, saved myself and my family from bankruptcy. All 3 of the lawyers were much too quick to offer us bankruptcy. You need alot of money to file bankruptcy. The bankruptcy contracts offered by the lawyers ranged from $750-$2500. This is absolute robbery! When I found this book, I found the solutions to our financial problems!

Sincerely, O Madsen

I WAS ABLE TO AVOID BANKRUPTCY
Trying to find a bankruptcy lawyer I was able to trust was my first problem. The embarrassment of my financial situation caused me many sleepless nights. Then I found "Your Step by Step Guide to Financial Rehabilitation." What an amazing authored work. I have been able to renegotiate contracts with 11 out of 12 of my creditors and the 12th one is considering my latest offer. The attorney had started my bankruptcy paper work when I called him and instructed him to cancel. I saved $850.00 on attorney fees and my credit is now good enough to secure new credit on the essentials of life. Who could ask for more?

Highly Recommended
As the third volume in a series of "CFO" publications," The CFO as Business Integrator" benefits from the author's experience gaining in writing previous books. It is well balanced, and provides an excellent overview of all aspects of business process integration. The book is centrally focused on the new role of the CFO as decision maker and integrator.
"CFO as Business Integrator" was written by a team of SAP who provide SAP's vision for Finance and Controlling. Topics addressed include: Shared Services, Intangibles, Corporate Governance, Financial Supply Chain, Integration of Planning and Portal access.
The book offers a number of case studies, enabling readers to gain insight from real-world examples. Customer studies are offered by Manfred Gentz, CFO DaimlerChrysler, Jim Daley, CFO EDS or Wolfgang Reichenberger, CFO Nestlé.
Overall the Book is a good, easy read for CFO's and provides solid information that can be used to implement stronger, more efficient business process across the entire organization, changing the role of the CFO from that of a number cruncher and gatekeeper to a consultant and profit driver.

The best of the "Cedric Read Trilogy"
Following "CFO: Architect" and "eCFO", at last a work of real substance, and minimal PwC consulting-ese (only to be replaced with SAP-centrism, an understandable weakness, as SAP sponsored the book).

Each chapter is written by a businessperson with considerable depth in his particular area - from a business perspective - which distinguishes this volume from previous books in the series, which - to put it just slightly unkindly - were written by consultants who couldn't consult their way out of a paper bag.

Shortcomings aside, this volume is obligatory reading for every CFO and financial manager who who wants to navigate his company by looking forward versus by looking at the rear-view mirror.

CFROI explains stock prices better than P/E ratios
Best finance book I have read in years!

The book is a quick read and does a terrific job of explaining the investment framework employed by institutional portfolio managers world-wide. CFROI brings the concept of return on invested capital to a more robust level by providing the investor with a greater understanding of stock price movement and valuation.

This book is a must read if you expect to outperform the market. The increased complexity of accounting rules over the last decade has forced investors to apply an analysis process focused on a company's future cash flows. The accuracy of the CFROI valuation framework places traditional analysis and EVA at the bottom of the investor's toolbox. CFROI can help you avoid value trap stocks and step up to high PE stocks who are expected to create wealth for their shareholders.

The millenium stock selection model
Madden's text substitutes empirical fact for academic claptrap, clearing away the underbrush of neat-though-erroneous theories like CAPM and EVA, giving the conscientious professional and serious amateur a meticulous roadmap to superior understanding and investment returns. Or in Madden's words, "The employment of CAPM/beta and related procedures has become a ritual due not to empirical usefulness, but to its mathematical elegance - the touchstone of mainstream academic corporate finance." The justification for CFROIs demanding discipline is demonstrated early in the text in an example, wherein the past real record of a hypothetical firm with a stable 6.5 % ROI is converted into GAAP accounting numbers from which an ROI series is calculated. In re the accounting-based return history, Madden asks, "Who referring to (the chart) would not be misled about a firm's performance relying on the (ROI gyrating between + 24% and -10%) while the economic performance did not vary?" In short, if you don't know the facts, you can't solve the mystery. The predictive and interpretive powers of the system's valuation metric is the result of plain hard work, not the magical properties of some lazy man's statistical dowsing rod like Earnings Momentum. Last widely employed during the Tulip Craze of an earlier century, Earnings Momentum is based on the dubious concept that as long as accounting earnings, surreal and manipulable though they be, go up, the stock should go up as fast as it does go up, unless earnings don't go up as fast as expected, in which case we've been disappointed, so it's not worth anything until the bookies can reestablish the odds. Had we all expended the necessary effort on CFROI, we might have anticipated or at least understood to our financial benefit and peace of mind: IBM problems in the mid-80s to mid-90s that led to a restructuring; Wal-Mart's staggering gait beginning in the late 80's that produced unsatisfactory price action in the early 90's; Hewlett Packard's defiance of gravity in maintaining an exceptional internal rate of return; ditto Abbot Labs, Hershey and Wrigley's outperforming the market; the rebound of Analog Devices and the volatility of Advanced Micro Devices; and so on and on. The CFROI knowledge system dissects the firm and the value creation process, meticulously separating the past and present from the nebulous future, thereby establishing a mathematical basis for professional investment decision making. The CFROI valuation model applies dividend discount technique to inflation-adjusted cash flow growth projections, using a firm-specific risk premium plus the market-required rate of return to determine the firms warranted value and the equity's warranted price. CFROI resolves two fundamental equity valuation issues: the recognized fallibility of the Capital Asset Pricing Model and the inherent inconstancy of accounting data. The former supplying a counter-intuitive cost of capital or required rate of return; the other concealing the real prospects of the firm's wealth creating efforts. As the lengthy flow charts detailing the process required to turn accounting hash into economic reality attest, CFROI is not a black box of unexplained miracles. It's a sweatshop equipped with empirically-proven, high tech tools which give the driven amateur and dedicated professional the means to outrun the herd.

A different perspective on the Spanish transition
This books is excellent if you want to understand what really happened during the Spanish transition to democracy. It shows how large Spanish banks came to dominate the Spanish economy and how they retained their power even as the political system changed dramatically (first with the civil war, then with the transition of the 70s). It is the only account that I have read about Spain that delves into the real centers of power during that period. My only qualm is that the writing is a bit academic, and some of it requires fairly good knowledge of economic theory.

An outstanding book about economic and political power
This amazing book focuses on the relationship between the economic power of Spain's largest financial institutions and the political power of successive Spanish governments. It gives an excellent view of how economic power manages to control the three legal powers of the State in modern European democracies. Definitively a must read!!

The best book on the politics of Spanish banking
This book is a great example of social-science research on the politics of financial reform. Although focused on the Spanish banking sector, it makes comparisons with other European countries, especially France. Easily one of the best political analyses of the power of private banks in emerging economies. Highly recommended for those interested in understanding the forthcoming European Economic and Monetary Union of 1999.
