Very Useful Book
No doubt, a very useful guide to methods of financing a college education. Also check out "WEST POINT", by Norman Thomas Remick, which clues you in about West Point, the college at which everyone is there on full scholarship paid by the government.

The best book ever written about saving for college!
This book unlocks the secrets of saving for college like the 401k plan did for saving for retirement. A real must for all families to understand. Makes a great present.

A fantastic summary of 529 plans
This book should be read by anyone planning to send a child to college. After reading this book, I started college savings accounts for my daughterin New York and New Hampshire. This is definitely the "sleeper" tax break which everyone should know about. Forget the pitiful Education IRA. The 529 plans are where it's at!!

Financial Guide for All
I purchased my first copy of BW Guide in 1999. Since then, I have loan my book out to others, purchased copies for friends and advised family to use many of the principals outlined in the book.
My family & friends - Men, Women, Black, White and Latino have all benefited from Ms. Broussard advice. This book does not overwhelm its reader with information, but focuses on the basics. It uses examples of real life people and situations that are believable and we can relate to.
This book is a buy. I recently purchased a used copy through Amazon for my 18-year-old cousin, for it is never too early or late to learn to trust money.

A guide for men as well
I am favorably impressed by The Busy Women's Guide to Financial Freedom by Vickie L. Bajtelsmit. It is written in plain language with practical examples. For future editions, the book's title should be changed, however, because it is gender-neutral--a guide for men as well.

Great gift for college graduates
Vickie Bajtelsmit's book was given to me recently as a gift and I have found it to be an invaluable reference book!

As a 24 year-old, only certain parts of the book seem to apply to me now (sections on credit cards, renter's insurance, student loans); however, I anticipate referring to it often over the coming years. In skimming the sections on buying a car or house and financing a child's education or my own retirement, I can see that careful planning will be the key to achieving what I want in life.

Bajtelsmit's book will definitely help me get a head start on life's big purchases and life's big investments. I probably wouldn't buy such a book for myself, but now that I have the book I don't think I'll need any others. If you have a soon-to-be college graduate in the family, this would make a great gift!

A superbly presented guide to personal finance
Vickie Bajtelsmit's Busy Woman's Guide To Financial Freedom is a superbly presented guide to personal finance telling women how to gain more control over finances; from tracking where money is spent to choosing health and insurance plans and taking advantage of tax-preferred methods of saving. From buying a house to daily budgeting and credit card management, this is filled with fine tips.

Unbelievably easy to read and benefit from.
This is a tremendous book that will help me put my kids through college. I joined the services that Mr. Howe provides in his company College Funding Solutions. I do not have the time to do all of the things suggested in the book. It would take too much time to do with all of the information that he provides. It's a great read, well worth the time.

Excellent book
This book had much more info than I expected. I was very impressed. It was also very clear and easy to read. I highly recommend it!

The entire college preparation and financial aid process explained, in detail, in easy to follow steps - exactly what I was looking for. Miracle Guide to construction accounting
I am a systems manager, and know nothing about accounting. However I did know that my husband's construction firm was not using QuickBooks Pro properly. Amazon's helpful search engine suggested that I might like Contractor's Guide to Quickbooks Pro 2002. Amazon sure was right. This book quickly and simply explained how to set up a construction company's accounts and helped me turn two years worth of mis-input data into reliable reports. It also helped me develop a 10 page guide for the company's staff to use when entering invoices and payments.

The authors also have telephone support for reason prices although I have not yet needed to use them. They will also convert a Company's Quickbooks accounts into their suggested standard for a pretty reasonable fee.

I would highly recommend this book to small and medium sized construction companies. The book is wonderful, especially for non accounting types.

EASY TO FOLLOW FOR THE ACCOUNTING LAYMEN
I PURCHASED THIS BOOK WHEN ALL ELSE FAILED. FOR THE LIFE OF ME I COULD NOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO USE QUICKBOOKS FOR MY HUSBANDS CONSTRUCTION BUSINESS. QUICKBOOKS FOR THE CONTRACTOR GIVES YOU THE INFORMATION YOU NEED IN THE TERMS THAT YOU UNDERSTAND.I FOUND THAT THE HELP MENU IN QUICKBOOKS WAS BASED ON A MAIL ORDER COMPANY AND DID NOT GET THE QUESTIONS I NEEDED ANSWERED.I RECIEVED THE BOOK, READ IT COVER TO COVER AND USED IT STEP BY STEP FROM ESTIMATING TO TO PAYING JOB MATERIAL BILLS.
IT WAS SO EASY AND THE BEST PART IS THE BOOKKEEPING IS RIGHT!!
FINALLY!!
I HIGHLY REC0MMEND THIS BOOK TO ANY SELF EMPLOYED CARPENTER OR CONTRACTOR WHO IS HAVING TROUBLE WITH QUICKBOOKS.
ALSO IT COMES WITH A DISK THAT MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO IMPORT ESTIMATES FROM NATIONAL ESTIMATER. THERE IS EVEN A DEMO TO SHOW YOU HOW. GREAT BOOK HANDS DOWN

Collaboratively developed and written by Karen Mitchell, Craig Savage, and Jim Erwin, Contractor's Guide To QuickBooks Pro 2002 is a straightforward, easy-to-follow guide for setting up and using the QuickBooks Pro 2002 accounting software to expedite one's construction business. A Good Book to Understand Financial Crises
Contrary to conventional belief, the authors propose that roots of a financial crisis lie in microeconomic rather than macroeconomic factors. Their evidence is convincing.

This is a good book for anyone who wants to know why the past financial crises happened and how to cope with them from both the public and the private perspectives. The authors also present the "ten warning signs of a financial crisis" based on macroeconomic data that can be used as a guideline to predict a crisis in certain economy. But the problem is they cannot predict when it will happen.

The authors' objective to "offer some unique perspectives, case examples, and practical solutions, and an actionable, strategic blueprint that our clients can tailor to meet their specific needs" is well presented.

A must read for crisis management
If you have no other book on financial crisis management, you must have this one.

The authors succinctly and clearly explain why economies in crisis do not behave the way economies normally do. They then identify key weaknesses in the financial sectors of crisis economies, and explain why they occur.

The book then goes on to provide a thorough and clear exposition on how crisis economies can be turned around, and what needs to be done, both politically and financially.

At this point the book turns to consider bank restructuring (a very specialised subject) and recovery of NPL portfolios in crisis economies. It concludes with recommendations for strengthening the international financial system to limit early economic collapse and prevent international financial contagion.

I really like this book, both as a guide for students, and a "how to" for CEO's and the financial sector. It is brilliantly clear and practical.

If you want to protect yourself and your organisation from financial crisis, or understand what happens when the economy you're operating in suffers collapse, get this book.

A unique and intriguing book
If you are interested in financial crises in emerging markets, or have to manage a company during one, you will learn from this book.

Two features make the book unique in the financial-crisis literature. First is real-world experience. While the authors are up on their economic theory, the book's real contribution is the fruit of years of practice. From poring over the innards of banks' loan books to working out a national re-structuring plan, these guys have actually done it, and done it in multiple nations. Until now, the theoretical works of academia and the IMF/World Bank have had the field pretty much to themselves. This book is a refreshing break, and a vital complement.

Second is that the book speaks not just to policymakers, but to the private sector. There's plenty of advice out there for central bankers and finance ministers for crisis-management; there hasn't been anything for corporate executives and bankers. This book fills that void. If I were a CEO managing during a crisis, I'd want this book on my nighttable.

A very excellent and amusing book!
This is a great book, I loved reading it. Be careful when you pick it up because you might just get a tad distracted and want to read is all through! Overall, it has some major pointers on saving money, especially when it comes to food. Loads of hints.

Saving for the Future
This book is just jam-packed full of cost saving gems!! In fact, I have saved countless dollars through better management of my money through tips I learned in this book. Perhaps the best thing about this book were all the great tips for getting both summer employment and grant money. Lastly, unlike so many other money saving books I have attempted to plod through, I really found The Debt Free Grad fun to read. If I enjoyed my course work reading as much as this book, I would be an English major instead!

Not just for college students!
Murray Baker's Debt Free Graduate is an excellent resource. I work in college-level education, and have found the book to be very helpful in preparing information for students about how to be financially fit. Baker uses really practical examples of how we can save money in every aspect of our lives. I have definately picked up some tips that I can use, on everything from mutual funds to decorating my apartment for less... I highly recommend this book. It's a fun, easy read.

Engaging personal finance tome
Everyone knows that couples fight about money but it's still hard to stop. Ms. Knuckey offers strategies to manage the "family" finances without coming to blows. Her advice is sound and understandable. I recommend this book to new couples and those who have been together for a while.

fun and informative!
This is an excellent book full of sensible and relevent advice. It is easy to read and well-written. I highly recommend it.

Required Reading for
One of the most meaningful books on finance I've ever read. Deborah Knuckey puts complex financial concepts within easy reach of readers of all backgrounds, while keeping the subject matter lively with real-world examples, humorous asides and just plain good advice. I wish I had read this book ten years ago!

Like many people, I have found that while my personal finance was in check, I have had trouble "sharing" money in a relationship. Agreeing how money is to be spent and how it should be handled is one of the most common sources of friction between couples. This book addresses the very real challenge facing people when deciding to share not only their lives, but their money.

Ms. Knuckey clearly explains how people's view on money differs according to their background, education and personalities. Without preaching specific financial advice, her book outlines the most common problems that couples face when handling money together, and some suggested ways in which to mediate, compromise and agree upon mutually beneficial financial strategies.
