Great Begining Financial Read!
Getting Loaded is a fantastic book for someone just looking into personal finance for the first time or for someone (like myself) who has found themselves a bit too deep and looking to return to some rock solid basics. Getting Loaded is written in a fun and easy to follow fomat with detailed explanations as to why each "secret" starting each chapter of the book can or should be used by the reader. In my opinion this book would make a fantastic graduation gift! Highly reccomended.

Personal Finance and Investings Golden Child
This is one of the best investing books on the market and is right up there with the masters such as Lynch and Orman. Peter simplifies and delves into sound investing principles with simplicity that an adolescent as well as scholar can comprehend.Comparable to a "Dummies" format this book is both enjoyable, educational as well as easy and just plain fun to read. I had trouble putting it down.Having read many investing books I can honestly say this is by far one of the best if not the best, that I have ever read. It would behoove all to purchase this product and increase your chances of attaining wealth.

A "Must-Read" before you invest another dollar!
Awesome book! Highly recommended for financial novices and experts alike. This book is very well written and arranged in a logical manner to help the beginner build a good foundation of personal finance without insulting the intelligence of the financially astute. Filled with wit, humor and thought-provoking cynicism, Mr Bielagus serves up a short-order lesson on how to cut through the complex financial world without being intimidated. A great way to benefit from a financial expert's many years of research in less than 400 pages! An absolute "must-read" for anyone on the road to financial independence.

I'M WEALTHY WITH CHELLIE
Chellie Campbell is a wonderful storyteller and her daily affirmations are a pleasure to read. Like so many of us, my life is full to the brim and I have many demands on my time. I love the fact that her book is designed so that I can easily incorporate it into my life. All I have to do is just read one page to get a kickstart to my day! Now that I CAN do! Every day I find that I am entertained by a good story, I learn a lesson and affirm a positive statement that establishes my outlook for the whole day. It all so simple. That's the marvelous thing about THE WEALTHY SPIRIT. Chellie's book is deceptively simple but each daily segment is packed with so much depth. If you read this book and absorb its lessons through your daily practice, you will literally discover the truth of the maxim "change your thinking, change your life." I'm on day 40 and I already see the shift taking place in my life as I send out my ships, count my money and survive the storms. THE WEALTHY SPIRIT is helping me become a wealthy woman!

It keeps getting better
Well, I have to say, I love Chellie's book! I have read through it once already and have begun my second time around. My partner and I read a page each day to each other - what a great way to begin the day!
The stories are inspiring, touching and empowering and I love saying the affirmations throughout the day.
I am also a graduate of Chellie's Financial Stress Reduction Workshop and have to say the value of taking her workshop cannot be measured in dollars and cents! The synergy of the group and the support of the group is wonderful and it's great to see so many people taking the energy of money and making it work in a new and measurable way.
Chellie's teaching style and humor helps to support and honest, straight-forward and non-judgemental view of our own financial picture. The class and the book have helped me see how my financial life got to be the way it is and how I can change my circumstances and my experience with money. Now that's success!
If you cannot take the class, buy this book, read it and do the exercises beginning today - get a buddy to do it with you and have fun with your money!

a gem
chellie campbell's "the wealthy spirit" is one of the best books on abundance i've ever read because it reveals the true method of creating wealth--from the inside out--and does so through stories showing how others did it. This personally strengthened my own belief in the process of creating "miracles," especially when outer appearances were gloomy. As a former workshop participant of chellie's, i can only say that her class is worth more than the price of admission! If it's available to you, run, don't walk and sign up!

The entire Cash Flow Industry explained in one book
I have read and followed financial, investment and business books for close to 30 years. Many are informative and some are brilliant. This book is one of the latter ones. I've been watching the cash flow industry develop for 10 years now, but this is the first time the entire industry is explained in one book by the founder of it. It's an added bonus that the book is thorough, entertaining, and easy to read.

PROBABLY THE BEST CASH FLOW BOOK ON THE MARKET TODAY
THIS BOOK WAS A VERY EASY TO UNDERSTAND, VERY PLEASANT TO READ OVER-VIEW OF THE CASH FLOW INDUSTRY AND ITS POTENTIAL TO EARN MONEY. ITS WRITTEN IN LANGUAGE THAT ANYONE CAN UNDERSTAND, AND BE ABLE TO APPLY IN THE REAL WORLD. MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE BOOK IS ACCURATE, COHESIVE, AND WRITTEN IN SUCH A WAY AS TO BE ENJOYABLE. TIME WELL SPENT. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO ANYONE SEEKING A VIABLE, LUCRATIVE CAREER IN THE MONEY BUSINESS, OR ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE ALREADY IN THE BUSINESS WHO WANT TO REFRESH THEMSELVES AND EXPAND THEIR POTENTIAL. A MUST READ!!!

Very informative and straightt to the point
What I liked about this book is that Pino does not fill your head with needess pie in the sky pep talks. Pino seems to tell you what you need to know, give you information and phone numbers to help you get started then lets you go. I recomend this book if you would like to learn or at least begin learning about this subject.

David Bach's Smart Women Finish Rich is a homage to the financial wisdom of his grandmother; it's also an excellent foundation for women who are starting to get their financial lives in order. Bach's approach to money management is rooted in years of investment seminars for women and his work as senior vice president of investments at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. During that time he recognized that "people rarely know what is truly driving them emotionally when it comes to money." In response, Bach has written a guide to money management for women based on his belief that "financial planning is as much an emotional issue as it is an intellectual one." Are you considering your values in your work and investing? What part of your daily work is driven by your goals in life? Is your latte habit preventing you from accumulating substantial wealth? Bach addresses tax strategies, wills, insurance, retirement plans, and investments in a highly accessible manner. Smart Women Finish Rich ably bridges the gap between simple saving strategies and preparing for widowhood and financial independence. --Brad Doll

Energizing for women of all ages
Some of the previous readers may have felt that the author's examples were "fake" and "made up" but I can tell you that if you have spent years doing something less productive than that which you knew you really ought to have done, you might actually "burst into tears" in the author's office. Admitting money mistakes can be very difficult, particularly when you "intellectually" knew better.

Nonetheless, this book is energizing and encouraging. I have provided some of the charts to staff that work for me in the hopes that it will encourage them to save for their retirement early and constantly.

I read many books, and I've read many on financial investing--this one provides lots of motivation and encouragement in addition to its clear explanations and wonderfully practical advice.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book. There are other excellent books on investment and financial planning, and each individual should start with one that speaks to him or her. A book like this one explains the basics without confusing the consumer!

Best wishes on your financial fortune!

What a difference a good book can make!
Yes, I am one of those educated, smart women that has not done much with my money, other than spend it on things I don't need! You must be thinking, "she must not be that smart afterall!" Well, I just never had anyone teach me about money, and I never was really motivated to do anything about it. For those of you who think someone else is going to take care you...don't. You need to know about your money...married or single. Reading "Smart Women Finish Rich" has changed my financial life. It contains the information for literally anyone from any walk of life to get started. This book contains forms to determine where you are at right now with debt, cash outflow, etc., and then walks you through ways to save and invest that money, resulting in a secure future. It also clearly explains all the language, basic concepts, and types of funds, retirement accounts etc. After reading this book, you really will have a much better understanding of how to control your finances, and you will NOT be intimidated again. If you read any book this year, read this one. It really will make a difference in your life!

GIRL - READ THIS BOOK!
This book is a must read! I couldn't put it down! If you want to retire and do the things you enjoy and not worry about money holding you back, buy this book NOW!

Invaluable
Although at first I didn't really need this book, my friend recommended it to me. From the first reading, it surprised me, how good and interesting the book is! Glad I read this book.

The book explains many concepts in corporate finance, from the usual stuffs like DCF, cost of capital, risk, to much more difficult issues like business restructuring, in a very interesting, practical and readable way. Coupled with real world examples like the Time-Warner case, this book is clearly a must for those who want to built a strong foundation in finance.

The best introduction to basic financial management.
This book is required at Harvard Business School and is used at top B-schools and bank management trainee programs around the country.
I used the book during my MBA program, even though it was not required. My study group members always requested that I bring it to group meetings. I even had a classmate approach the author (who happens to be my father) at my graduation and ask for his autograph.
The book introduces complex finance concepts like net present value in non-academese language and the real-world examples reinforce the concepts.
I strongly recommend this textbook to anyone preparing to enter business school or embarking on a job in financial analysis.
Professor Higgins is a beloved teacher at his home institution, the University of Washington. You can share in a little of his vast expertise and gift for teaching by reading his book, Analysis for Financial Management.

One of a kind
A book that every prospective MBA should have, as it is very clear and gives a lot of resource listings and examples. Recommended for anyone that need to deal with financial issues.

What makes it even better, is that it lives up to its back cover: it turns Finance into Management, or at least tries very hard to show what a CFOs life is really about, in practical examples.

Very strongly recommended for people that need to understand what being a CFO is about (all prospective MBAs) or people that need to understand what choices sometimes have to be made in finance.

Office wisdom
How many books tell the (and sometimes disgusting) truth about how the world really works? Well, at least one does, Office Politics by R Don Steele.
Expect no encouraging words or quick fixes, but a lot of work and thinking on YOUR side. Steele guides you in the process of becoming successful at the corporation (and even at life, too) through his well organized and entertaining book. His style is direct and harsh, and besides it's directed to women it works for men too (at least a 90%).

The book is about americans corporations, so readers from other cultures might find that some parts doesn't apply to their own situation (even in case of working for american companies located outside US), but anyway, a large part still holds.
As a plus, you can call the author regarding these matters to his own web radio show at live 365.

Office Politcs: The shortcut to business success
I'm a successful middle-aged executive who learned a lot of Office Politics the hard way. However, even I learned a lot of new things in reading it. This book is a must for women who want to succeed in the corporate world and it will definitely help men, too. Steele tells it like it is and will win no awards for political correctness. I wish I'd had this book when I was 25.

Find a copy of this book!!! A must read !!
How I wish I had read this book at 22 instead of 42. If you've never worked in management for a corp. It's hard to believe how corrupt and seemingly crazy companies can be. My experience says Don has been there. His analysis and advice are dead on. Follow his advice, all of it, or attend the school of hard knocks.
I'm loaning a copy of this book to all the working women I care about. I'll only loan it to my friends who aren't competing against me. (Get this book back in print!) 90% applies to men as well as women.

My favorite quote. "If everyone played by the rules, only exremely talented boy scouts would rise to the top." So true.

I recommend this book to all my students
I recommend this financial dictionary to my students--professionals in the securities industry--who are training for securities examinations. Because the definitions are written in plain English, it makes my job a lot easier.

Outstanding Reference Book - "Strong Buy" Recommendation
We recommend this glossary to all of our traders and investors, both experienced and novice alike. Investors at all levels can use this book for both reference and educational purposes. It's comprehensive--more terms than any other of its kind--and well written. I rate this as a core holding for any investor.

Exceptional
I cannot believe how thorough this dictionary is--literally all the street jargon is in here. For this price, you're doing yourself an incredible disservice by ignoring it. We all forget the lingo sometimes; the Wall Street dictionary immunitizes us against forgetting trader talk.

Buffett: : The Making of an American Capitalist
Published in Hardcover by Random House (22 August, 1995)
Author: Roger Lowenstein
Amazon base price: $27.50
Used price: $4.49
Collectible price: $14.82
Starting from scratch, simply by picking stocks and companies for investment, Warren Buffett amassed one of the epochal fortunes of the 20th century -- an astounding net worth of $10 billion and counting. That awesome record has made him a cult figure.

This illuminating biography reveals a man whose conscientiousness, integrity, and good humor exist alongside an odd emotional isolation. Buffett also masterfully traces his life: his enormously successful partnership; his early, inspired investments in American Express and Geico; his companionship and investment with Katharine Graham of the Washington Post; his role in the Capital Cities purchase of ABC; his unique relationship with his wife and mistress; and his rescue of the scandal-ridden Salomon Brothers.

A Biography, NOT an Investment Guide
This well written biography of Warren Buffett is just that, a biography. Those readers seeking Mr. Buffett's investment advice need to look elsewhere. "The Warren Buffett Way" written by Hagstrom or Mr. Buffett's shareholder letter in Berkshire Hathaway's annual reports would be an excellent place to start. In this book Lowenstein descriptively documents the events that shaped Buffett's life beginning with childhood. The reader gains an in depth understanding and appreciation of Mr. Buffett's business acumen. Any disappointment that the reader encounters is probably a result of the fact that Mr. Buffett leads an exceptionally mundane life. As a result, the reader at times will feel compelled to put the book down. If you are fascinated with Mr. Buffett's ability to consistently outperform the market or are a Berkshire Hathaway shareholder this is a must read.

Read about Buffett and be inspired.
I honestly can't say what drove me to read this book: all I know is that at some point, I knew I had to read about Warren Buffett. So I picked this book up at a bookstore (I had not had the forethought to order it online) and was immediately thrown into the life of the Oracle.

I cannot imagine anyone reading this book and not immediately becoming a disciple of Warren Buffett. In a way, Lowenstein's biography reads like a legend - Buffett is the messiah of capitalism. Imagine having an average return on investments of 29% for one solitary year. Now imagine making that same average return for 40 years! Finally, throw out any notion that making such massive amounts of money was done deceitfully or immorally. Lowenstein helps us see Buffett not as somebody who has stolen wealth away from the masses (because if anything, he's created wealth for the masses), but as an investor - someone who recognizes value and buys into that value. It's what we do when we buy stocks or fall in love (is not love simply a statment of value?): we make investments.

Lowenstein's portrait shows us of a man who has made billions by making rational and morally correct decisions. Yes, it would seem that Buffett has an ingenious ability to understand the capital markets, but even excluding his knack for money, the bottom line which Lowenstein draws is that Warren Buffett is an avatar for human beings. This is not to say that Buffett is perfect, but we would be hardpressed to find such strength of chracter and mind in another human being. How many billionaires live in the same house they've lived in for 30 years? How many CEOs tell their shareholders that they get to decide where to the company should make its charitable donations?

Buffett stands very much as a symbol of Capitalism as an ideal, and Lowenstein paints a portrait of Buffett that beautifully illustrates a life lived under such righteous principal. As such, if you disagree with capitalistic ideals, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK!

Otherwise, maybe you'll be like me and find in Buffett an unlikely hero.

The Most Comprehensive Biography Yet
This is a superbly interesting look into the life of Mr. Buffett. In my opinion, the most fascinating reading involves Warren's early years, as he learns to craft his genius and begin his life as an allocater of capital.

It's especially puzzling that despite being a nerd, Buffett easily charms many of his class mates and others with whom he interacts. These skills were wildly successful as he went out seeking capital to launch his partnership.

I have read this book a few times, and recently took to underlining the most interesting anecdotes passages and Buffettisms. After recently finishing the book, I realized that I had practically highlighted each sentence. There are many gems within to be comptemplated

If you REALLY want to understand Buffett, ignore the "Invest Like Buffett" books out there (and there are a bunch). It is a lot more worthwhile to learn about the man, and especially his principles. This book in conjunction with his annual letters to his partners / shareholders is the best method by which a student can truly learn from the Oracle of Omaha.

Comments from the Authors
This book is an attempt to apply the discipline (the science) of software engineering to the art of trading. Further, it is an integration of a trading platform (e.g., TradeStation) with the essence of the most influential technical analysis and trading books. So, we presume that the reader is familiar with the patterns described by Gartley, Dunnigan, and Edwards & Magee; the position sizing models described by Tharp; the trading styles espoused by Crabel, Cooper, and Raschke; and the performance analysis techniques introduced by Stridsman.

The first chapter defines the trading model and the various components: the portfolio, trading systems, position sizing, filters, and trade management. Although the book focuses on automating technical analysis techniques, these systems all work within the same framework introduced in the first chapter.

Chapters 2 through 7 cover a variety of trading systems: pair trading, pattern recognition, float analysis, momentum / range, and volatility. In Chapter 8, we create a "system" system by combining all of the systems into one strategy (a bottoms-up approach) and then compare this approach with a top-down system (a variation of the pattern recognition system) derived from market breadth and sentiment indices such as the put/call ratio, VIX, advancers/decliners, etc.

In Chapter 9, we recount one of our trading days. This was a fun chapter for us because we had no idea how the trades would pan out later in the week. After reading this chapter and our assessment of each chart, judge whether or not you are a better chart reader or system trader (N.B. we are the latter).

Chapter 10 is the day trading chapter (recall Ben Hur on a Roman galley chained to his rowing bench). Yeah, we poke fun at day traders but apply some common-sense technical analysis techniques for intraday trading. Hint: Use the rectangle for intraday trading, especially afternoon breakouts.

Finally, Chapter 11 contains the source code implemented in TradeStation's EasyLanguage: 64 pages of trading systems, indicators, and functions.

Regarding the book itself, many people have asked why we would publish these trading systems. The answer is that the systems are diverse and have an almost infinite number of variations, across time frame and sector. Find your niche and exploit it. As to the rating, we probably could have included more intraday examples and code in Chapter 10. Yes, the book will draw the ire of those who believe that one cannot trade the markets mechanically; however, with the proper software platform, we feel that any market knowledge can be encoded and implemented within a system.

Enjoyable reading
It's an enjoyable book. Discretionary trading strategies are incorporated into a mechanical frame by means of a Tradestation platform. Most of the systems incorporate well-known price pattern concepts, with the exception of the float analysis system. The novice trader will obtain some good ideas on how to develop a trading system, with the exception on the issues regarding testing and optimization.

Most of the systems incorporate the concept of price contraction/expansion and trading performance is mainly dependent on price volatility. These types of systems are a natural consequence of the bubble trading environment where prices surpassed normal levels of historical volatility by leaps and bounds. The trading environment is quite different now, as the recent rise in the markets is marked by low price volatility. This environment tends to favor trend following systems, something that the book does not present.

Stock selection and stop placement is a bit confusing. First, the position modelling incorporates an ATR factor of 1. The entry/exit default models call for a 0.3ATR trigger above and below the high/low. From the get go, the max. loss potential is 2*0.3+body of the bar, which in most cases will be greater than 1ATR. The exception to the case will be in the narrow range models, where the body of the previous bar may be small enough to limit stop loss at 1ATR. The other dubious issue is stock scanning and selection. It is not clear whether the authors trade the system on a stock for an extended period of time, or whether they scan the markets for stocks that meet the filtering criteria and perform a quick test to determine performance. If the latter, then the trading system works as an automated discretionary system rather than "mechanical" on its true meaning. The latter approach does not take advantage of the statistical edge of a system when only traded a few times in a certain stock, and becomes a random event.

The filtering seems somewhat very restrictive and the ATR trigger rather than the high or low of the bar is not convincing. I have developed and traded narrow range systems where the high/low of the bar works as a better triggering mechanisms. This is because of the nature of the stocks that the authors tend to favor in their selection. The filtering on the narrow range system is restrictive, and when traded on a single stock for a considerable period of time on a daily timeframe, the user might be disappointed.

But overall, the book is an excellent addition to your trading library.

Bottom line is the book makes me money
It's rare when someone goes out on a limb and actually shares the realism of system trading -- warts and all. Ever wonder why vendors are reluctant to tell you the performance of their systems? I use two of the systems from this book every day, especially the R system for intraday and daily breakouts (these patterns have been killer the past few months). Some of the other systems do not seem to be as useful now, as all systems seem to cycle in and out of favor. But I find it comical that one of the reviewers can find nothing of value in this book -- apparently missing all of the free code in the appendix -- I counted 65 pages of code in total. Did he really expect the authors to hand out a dozen perfectly working systems? Sounds like someone who is too lazy to do the work... At the very least, there is a huge library of TradeStation code with two very simple but elegant daily systems that work on the indices, confirmed by my own backtesting on historical data. Lots of great ideas, plenty of charts, and some non-traditional technical analysis. Well worth the money. Great job guys.

Money Made Simple
i love the approach that bridgforth takes here. this is the best book about money that i've ever read. i've been attempting to "straighten" my money for a long time by buying books to educate myself. this is, however, the only book that does not lose me in the middle. it addresses issues that other 'money' books dont address like bad credit, not being able to get a bank account, and the like. all of these issues dont apply to all african american women, but i appreciated that she did take the time to take it into consideration. it shapes the reader's mind in such a way that she truly believes that getting her financial situation together is not impossible. i have recommended this book to all of my girlfriends. even if you have a hard time reading books that arent novels, i can assure that you will enjoy this book.

A Must Read!!!
I'm only half way through Girl, Get Your Money Straight! by Glinda Bridgforth and can without reservation already declare it as a must read for every black women whether you feel you are on top of your finances or buried underneath them. I've read quite a few financial books written by a variety of authors but this is the first one that specifically addresses finances from the historical, spiritual, and emotional perspective of African American women. It is amusing and amazing to see both myself and many of my friends reflected in her clients. Even though, based on other reading, I have already implemented the basic principles outlined in her prescriptions for financial health and healing, Girl, Get Your Money Straight! is providing me with an understanding of the whys behind my previous habits and also illuminating some problem areas and attitudes that I didn't realize existed.

This book speaks the truth!!!
Check the book out at the library and I know you will be back here to buy it!! The book talks directly to black women and what we go through on a daily basis! I wish I had it a fews years ago!!
