Avoid this book
This is the worst investment book that I ever bought. How the author ever managed to get published is beyond me. Example: "Way #XX: Don't buy on margin, it's too complicated." There may be reasons not to buy on margin, but come on. I honestly got the impression that margin was too complicated for the author to understand. He gave a money example, showing how you will loose on margin even when the stock price rises that was just flat out wrong. I couldn't believe it.

tells it like it is
a very factual to the point book. very unlike most books about the markets which are mostly author biographies, war stories, and personal opinions. this one gives a good illustration of how peddlers and sharks of the business work their craft.

More WhoDoo VooDoo PooPoo....
A warmed-over "channeled spirits" tale. What better way to get one more squeeze out of the old channeling teat then to add space aliens?? The human capacity for self-delusion is matched only by that for exploiting the deluded. Dave rates it one and a half Prozacs(tm).

From Sirius to Earth, review
Most decidedly not your usual book. Nor is it fictional. Dr. Fuqua undertook a new type of journey and exercised great care to present her findings in an accurate manner. For those of you studying the essence of what constitutes consciousness, and the essence of "Being" itself, this book is well worth the read. And for those of you sensitive to the actual subtleties of essence within one's "Being", you may find that your awareness of self expands and deepens. I am privileged to know the one called ATHOR, and invite you to read the book opening your heart and mind to its implications.

A waste of money if you are an undergraduate.
I bought the book hoping it would help me find a way to study in the US because I am not wealthy and can't afford the extortionate fees of universities in the US. The book was more useful for people who are looking to study as a post graduate. As an undergraduate nursing student looking for full funding, it was pretty useless.

A Very Useful Resource
The book was quite useful and I'm so glad I bought it. It features detailed descriptions of fellowships, grants and scholarship for both undergrad and post-grad studies. I especially like the way it categorised the awards, i.e. by field of study, academic level, average number and amount of award, destination instution among others. All these help to make searching easy and productive. Though I'm not yet succesful at getting support, I have no doubt that I will. I highly recommend it for international students wishing to study in the U.S.

Did not reflect our experience at all!
I read this book a month or so before our exchange student arrived and, although I didn't believe at the time that it had all the answers, I was not prepared for how utterly useless it was for our family. In contrast to the timeline given in the book, our student seemed to adjust quickly and well, then things got progressively worse as he became more and more comfortable in our home. He started out on his best behavior and ended up completely ignoring our house rules and the cultural norms of the school and community. I'm seriously considering writing my own book and calling it "The Alternative Host Family Survival Guide".

Host Family Survival Kit- Not a neccesity
The book "Host Family Survival Kit: A Guide for American Families" was an informative book, but a little hard to read. It also seemed to discuss a lot of negative things that many happen to a host family. The book was not uplifting, and read a lot like a high-school textbook. The book is also very out-of-date, even though it was only published 15 years ago. This book provides adequate information for a prospective host family, but not a must have.

Intelligent Speculator: A Unique & Low-Risk Approach to Trading Commodities

Intelligent Speculators will Avoid this Book

This work describes a system for commodity speculation called Interval
Trading. The premise and system are simple. Because the value of a
commodity will never go to zero, any downward trend will
eventually bottom out and reverse. To take advantage of this behavior
the authors suggest buying futures contracts at fixed intervals as the
price drops, and then reselling them at fixed intervals as the price
recovers.

This system requires the knowledge or faith that prices eventually
will recover, and tremendous capital to cover accumulated losses while
waiting for a price recovery that may take months, years, or decades to
materialize. This advice violates several of the tenets of successful
trading in that it requires trading against the trend, holding losing
positions forever, and only taking small, fixed profits. Small
traders following this advice should expect to go broke.

The authors' credibility is fatally damaged when then spend several
pages arguing that if you are long a contract, and then sell and
immediately re-buy the contract, then this is somehow different
from simply holding the original contract. Where I'm from,

(- X) + X = 0.

Furthermore, the authors never suggest that they or their clients have made
any money from this extremely risky scheme.

This is a highly risky speculation system, and its
exposition here is mathematically unsound. Intelligent speculators
will avoid this book.

A value approach to commodities investing...
This book will teach you how to buy and sell commodities at prices near their all-time lows. What this book will not do is teach you how to be a day-trader or short-term trader. Also, this book is for traders who are looking for slow and steady gains and not outsize gains. If you are looking for a book that will teach you how to conservatively invest in commodities, and you are comfortable with a large financial drawdown while trading, pick up a copy of this intersting book.

A lot of errors
Reading this book there are a lot of typos, which makes reading a lot harder.

There are also instances in the practice questions where the answer that are provided don't make sense according to the question.

For example in the section "Managing Client Permissions on Public Folders" the text says "The owner of a distribution list (I hope they mean public folder) or an Exchange administrator can set permissions by using the Exchange Client software" but an answer that they provide to a sample question says...."Only the Owner can modify permissions frome the client, whereas only Admin can modify permissions for the Exchange Administrator"

Good Review of Information
This book provides a good review of the information you will need to know to pass 70-81. It should NOT serve as your only point of study though. Learn the Exchange server through an ATEC or one of the excellent books available (MS Press is good, and so is Sybex). Also, remember that this test has gone adaptive! Study hard, and good luck!

Misleading
The book should be renamed to Microsoft Exchange Connectivity Guide for Exchange server 4.0 if there'll be a revise version in future. I highly recommend "Implementing Exchange Server" for experienced exchange architects or consultants who are setting out to design, implement, and then administrator an exchange server systems.because that book is designed for a very specific audience, experienced exchange guru or dream want to be.

Disapointing - Did not discuss other key areas
I expected the issues discussed to be aimed at an advanced user. The book only seems to handle subjects at an intermediate level. The book fails to mention anything about Dynamic RAS Connectors which can be a complex issue to resolve. In addition the directory synchronisation process is not covered in depth. There are a number of problem areas which can cause this process to fail. I feel an entire chapter could be dedicated to to directory synchronisation. On the positive side the explanation of the monitoring tools is good and even if that was the only thing of value I gained it was worth buying the book.

some good information, but better avilable elsewhere
This book has some solid information, but it is all available elsewhere except some studies on Point & Figure profitability. However, tests in 2002 by djbaker suggested that the profitability of these signals had broken down, so i'm not sure how useful this book really is. Like the previous reviewer, i'd recommend reading the Dorsey book first.

Not the best, but has some nuggets
This book outlines, in excruciating detail, how to manage basic point and figure charts. The only part of the book that can't be found on the internet contains subjects on optimizing the charts and recent (ca. 1994-97) analyses of profitability of the charts.

Read Dorsey first (Point and Figure Charting), and if you want to really get deep, read the last couple chapters of this book.

Not worth the paper it is printed on!
This book is a lead on for you to buy the authors software program. The software program is worthless and doesn't work. You would be better off spending your money on lottery tickets. DON'T BUY THIS BOOK!

An excellent book
I also have Gregory Morris, Candlestick Charting Explained published by McGraw-Hill. Morris's book was good, Wagner's book is better. Each of the authors present an analysis of each candlestick and the probable forecast of the future stock/commodities/market trends. While Morris provides interesting background data on each candlestick, the symbols are rather small. Wagner's efforts are directed more toward actual application...using the candlesticks from day to day in our attempt to fathom the next stock or market move. Wagner's charts are large--four symbols to a page. Wagner goes on to advise the reader of the need to run certain other programs (Fibonacci numbers, Bollinger bands) to confirm your interpretation of the meaning of the candlesticks. Where Morris provides a table of specific candlestick frequencies of occurrence, Wagner provides many pages of software code. I applaud the author's intention to enable us to utilize a computer in the process of reading the specific candlestick from a bar chart. However, the code appears similar to what was taught in college in our first class in computers (basic)? A code using Excel or even Lotus 1-2-3 would be more helpful. The book is almost outstanding.

Boo Hiss!
I have used the Exam Cram series of books for many exams that I have passed for my MCSE Exam and have been happy with them, but this one is an exception. I found this book to be very poorly written and dificult to follow. I tried to fight my way through it, but gave up half way through, feeling that I was wasting my time.

Wrong answers and inaccurate information
As an experienced Exchange Admin who is just brushing up on a few points for the exam, it would seem a book touting itself as an "Exam Cram" would be just the ticket. What a disappointment. It took me only about an hour with this book to cast it aside. It offers wrong answers to test questions, along with a lot of poorly written questions that are nothing like the actual exam. When I see such low regard for accuracy with the things I'm familar with, I can't trust the rest of the material. As for being a reference for day-to-day use, as some other reviews suggest, that's a joke. There isn't enough depth.

The Sybex book on this is good for brushing up on areas like the silly MS Mail Connector that MS still pounds you on. Trancender is still the best for exam simulations. As for day-to-day admin, nothing beats TechNet and the MS Knowledge Base.

Do not rely on this one.
I have used the Exam Crams before to help me with the Microsoft tests. Generally they are very good. My strategy has been to use a study guide to study the material and to follow this up with the Cram. I have found that even if I dont quite know all the material in the study guide, I can do well on the tests if I know the material in the Cram. This was not the case with Exchange 5.5. I recommend the Sybex book instead or in addition to the Cram.
