A Good Read!
In 1971, President Richard Nixon ended the convertibility of the dollar into gold and thereby scotched the mechanism of international agreements and regulations that had governed the world monetary system since the end of World War II. Over the ensuing decades, the once-stable global monetary environment became an exciting, volatile new source of risk and opportunity. Manufacturers saw their fortunes rise and fall as currency shifts favored them or, alternatively, their competitors overseas. Financial institutions discovered new opportunities and dangers in fast-moving currency markets. We recommend this book for its detailed and generally clear, albeit often tedious, introduction to the tools, techniques and strategies readers may use to manage risk or speculate in the world's biggest financial arena - the unregulated international currency market.

Very Informative - good for novice traders
There is a lot of material in this book that traders should know. Some are minor details, but these are the same details that can determine whether a trade will be profitable. It is divided into three parts towards the end to suit three types of investors: (1) corporate, (2) institutional, and (3) speculator. Obviously not all three will suit you, but you can learn some things from all of them. Take a look.

A very good forex hedging primer.
This book is a well written, easy to read book on FX markets with diagrams and examples to help clarify concepts. It can be used as an initial introduction on trends and models and is excellent for those more experienced who want to review basic concepts. The only gripe I have about it is that the currency models seem very simplistic. Of course, I have the same gripe about the simplistic usage of math in all economic books.

Good introduction
Mr De Rosa has written a well structured
introduction into the forex option market.
The clear examples and the pleasant writing
style make it an easy read (two nights, tops!).
Starting by showing the reader an EBS
dealing screen, he explains the price setting using the Black-Scholes model.
A bit more explanation might have been
in order on how the interbank market
really works in practice (volatility runs for ATMS Straddles, market making, etc...).
The section on exchange traded options and
futures is interesting for readers unaware
of the important differences with the OTC market.
The formulas for the Greeks contain almost
no typo's thus making the book useful as
a reference for a programmer.
The section on barrier options is a bit
disappointing. The relationship between
higher order derivatives and the volatility
smile might not have been out of place
(I am referring to the celebrated "three option
method" to quickly price exotics without
having to use MC-simulation).
Also, when introducing alternatives to the
BS-model, the formulae appear as by Deus
ex Machina. Nothing is said about calibration
difficulties. And when introducing alternative
models, why not going into long term fx
options ?
All in all, I would recommend the book to
any beginning forex option trader or salesperson,
but as those people generally do not earn the
largest of salaries, it is even better if they
borrow it from their institution's library.

Non-technical but intuitive
This book is a nice introduction to the subject. A trader would benefit from reading the text more than a financial engineer would. It may be a good idea to read the author's "Currency Derivatives," as well. People who have read any text at the level of Hull or higher are advised to move on to "Currency Derivatives" directly.

Updated Second Edition
This second edition has been greatly expanded with materials on the mechanics of the foreign exchange and options markets. The sections on the international monetary system have been updated, especially with respect to the European monetary system. New sections have been added on exotic currency options, specifically on barriers, average rate, basket and quantos options. There are two new chapters, one on currency option applications and another on currency overlay management.

Rubber Stamp Celebrations: Dazzling Projects From Personal Stamp Exchange

A refined sense of style and a superb introductory section set Rubber Stamp Celebrations apart from many others on the subject. The authors carefully walk us through all the tools and supplies, provide a good overview on understanding color and design, and explain a wide variety of techniques, with each step illustrated in full color. A number of these techniques are not often covered in other books: water embossing, paper layering, collaging, masking, stamping on modeling compounds to create a dimensional image, and embellishing with trinkets, ribbons, and other findings. Excellent step-by-step directions accompany a vast array of projects organized by theme: the subject of weddings, for example, brings us gold-embossed gift boxes, a photo album, toasting glasses, an embossed velvet handbag, and a unity candle. Christmas offers cards and ornaments galore, plus a charming plate and tumbler for Santa's milk and cookies. For birthdays there are cards, wrappings, party hats, and gifts, such as a journal or a silk scarf. Each holiday is given its due, as are housewarmings, garden parties, baby showers, and everyday occasions that require just the right hand-crafted card. With lovely subdued colors and many touches of gold, the items have a sophisticated Victorian feel. Some projects are more advanced, but novices can probably handle many of them. And just browsing through the beautiful pages offers plenty of inspiration. --Amy Handy

Great book-- sad angel policy
I am an avid stamper, and PSX used to be the grand dame until I read their demonic angel policy. They are pretty tight with their stamps and what you can do with them and go beyond the, "Just-make-sure-you-hand-stamp-as-opposed-to- reproducing-our-images" policy of other firms. It is hard to sell your work and you can't really donate it to an auction without prior approval. If you enjoy stamping, look into other firms like Magneta or Mirkwood for their stamps and READ THE ANGEL POLICY (limited angel policy is a warning to run!) but definitely buy this book.

Beautiful projects organized around a theme for each month
The projects in this book are shown in beautiful photographs with easy to follow instructions. There are twelve "groups" of projects - one group for each month and each month has a theme. The cards are stunning. As an avid stamper, there were new techniques described that I have not seen at my local stamp stores nor in other books or magazines. If you like to look at beautiful examples for inspiration, then I highly recommend this book.

Complete technique book
This book has alot on techniques and not just for cards. This book is nice for beginners and more advanced. It gives you many ideas to branch out with. As an avid stamper, I would recommend this book to all.

Not bad, but lacking detailed information
This book has been very helpful in explaining the basics of Exchange server. However, there have been multiple questions that have gone unanswered by this book. If it's intention is to be a complete reference for Exchange, it needs much more detail regarding newsgroups, forms, and client software. I would also like to have seen more detailed instructions on HOW to accomplish something with Exchange. There is a lot of text stating "with Exchange server 5.5, you can do this . . . " fill in the blank, but then there are no follow-up instructions on HOW to accomplish that task. Overall, it is a good beginner's guide, but not very helpful for real-world Exchange administrators who need to use Exchange server to its fullest capacity.

Mixed emotions, but mostly good
This book is big and it talks about a lot of issues but doesn't get into much detail. Perhaps it was not intended to. It sure gives a good general picture for the beginner, but I would have liked to see more on the Internet features like POP3. In coclusion, it's a good "overall" book on Exchange, but my advice is to supplement it with some smaller specialized books like MS Exchange Server Internet Mail Connector by Spyros Sakellariadis

Don't implement MS Exchange 5 without consulting its advice!

A problematic but interesting collection of essays
"Art and Anger: Essays on Politics and the Imagination" is a frequently fascinating, frequently annoying volume of essays by Jewish Mexican writer Ilan Stavans. Stavans, who moved to the United States and writes in English, has a complex perspective which is reflected in this book.

Much of this book deals with Latin American literature. Stavans' essays are informative, and frequently rich in intriguing insights. But I often found his style pompous and arrogant. I particularly disliked his many nasty comments about other Latino/Hispanic writers: he calls Mario Vargas Llosa a "dilettante" (in "Two Peruvians"); he dismisses Cherrie Moraga's work as "highly predictable and often stale" ("Art and Anger"); he refers to the career of Gabriel Garcia Marquez as "curiously disappointing," and says that this author's "Story of a Shipwrecked Sailor" is "forgettable and poorly structured" ("The Master of Aracataca"). Some of his cruelest comments are directed at Octavio Paz, whom he accuses of having a "relentless need to be worshiped and applauded." I have no doubt that many educated readers will disagree with these and other highly subjective statements.

Other essays in the collection are also troublesome. "The Latin Phallus: A Survey" contains interesting comments on such gay Latin American writers as Reinaldo Arenas and Jose Lezama Lima. But the essay as a whole is poorly structured (to steal one of Stavans' phrases) and ultimately unsatisfying.

Still, there are many good points in this collection. I was particularly intrigued by "Tongue Snatcher," about Argentine-born Hector Bianciotti, who writes in his adopted language of French. Overall, I recommend "Art and Anger" to those interested in Latin American studies, but I suggest that it be read with a critical eye.

Unique
Stavans is one of the best essayists of our time. His pieces are always stimulating and informative. I would compare him with Lionel Trilling. The essays on translation and poliglotism alone are worth the price.

Study of MAE and MFE
This book beats the theories of Max Adverse Excursion (how much a trade moves against you), Min and Max Favor Excursion (how much it moves in your direction) and then applies it to varying trending, non trending and reversal type of situations. The idea is that a winning trade is not likely to move very far against you. A losing trade is likely not to move very far in your favor. Therefore, one can uses these ideas to construct proper risk management and tweak their methods. I did find the book to be a bit wordy, often taking several chapters to explain a few points that could be summarized in two lines. There is also an interesting chapter about using options to hedge your position, rather than relying on stops. I give this book a strong 3 or a weak 4. There are certainly some good ideas, but isn't anything to write home about.

An idea book rather than a cookbook
Even though John Sweeney is Tech Editor for Technical Analysis of Stocks & Commodities, I had rather low expectations, expectations which most books in this field fulfill nicely. Mssrs. Sweeney have presented an idea book which focuses on what to look for, what to look out for, and, in passing, saves the cost of a piece of software. What this book is not is a set of formulae showing how to make a million trading. Thank Heavens!

The thrust of the book is to look at the phases a market can go through and to develop an approach for trading the phase now in evidence. Sweeneys also present concepts for turning a loss generated by a phase change into a profitable reversal. This concept builds on the authors' other work, Maximum Adverse Excursion. The concepts are fully explained and a methodology is used to illustrate each. The authors are careful to note that the method used may not be what they use and may not be optimum, but rather is presented for illustrative purposes.

At the outset I thought this work appropriate for only intermediate and experienced traders. Now I'm not so sure. Beginning traders, if they go back to this work from time to time, may be able to save themselves some time and grief.

I certainly recommend the book; I am uncertain whether I should post five stars or only four.

tiny fonts
The writing in this book is tiny, a strain on the eyes. The author should have used larger fonts, that would have made it a 4 star. The descriptions are good on the explanation and meaning of the patterns. The CD ROM just repeats whats in the book word for word, with poor graphics. I would also recommend candlesticks charting explained by gregory morris in combination with this book.

Concise, Well Written, and Worthwhile
I'm quite pleased with the material presented in this book and the clarity with which it is presented. I don't know how much credit to give to Mr. Pring versus the charting method he illuminates, but Pring makes candlestick charting entirely accessible to any reader possessing the intellectual tools requisite for competent analysis and trading. To be certain, I'm much impressed with some of the advantages candlestick charting provides the trader over conventional western charting and so a good part of my favorable impression of this book may lie in my approval of the techniques that Pring describes.

My own trading style relies somewhat on technical analysis but is also heavily influenced by fundamentals and market psychology. What I found most attractive in Pring's candlesticks was the way in which he focused on what this or that pattern revealed about the attitudes of market participants not just from day to day, but more importantly during the day. As a swing trader, I find this approach absolutely essential in detecting shifts in sentiment on a relatively short term basis, but in a broader context than within the electronic strictures of pure day trading.

Above all else, I give Pring credit for simplifying this analytical technique down to its basic components and including excellent descriptions and charts. While I'm inclined to conclude that most Technical Analysis books are overpriced, I believe that any book that can give the trader reliable new tools is ultimately worth the price. I believe this book fits in that category. I recommend this volume to anyone who desires more than rudimentary knowledge of candlestick charting. I doubt that any discussion of candlestick charting extending beyond Pring's teaching would really add much to the topic. I highly recommend this particular volume.

Reprint quickly Pls.
Being an outsider of European Intergration as asian, I can catch layout picture from this book about the EURO system. Even it will bring new future in major regions on focus economy and business. This book is not under academical theories only but also on practical issues. And the writing is not hard to read for non-inglish speaker.

Good book for understanding the economic impact of Euro
It's a book about EURO which you'll find interesting. It is actually a collection of articles written by various industry specialists. It examines the impact of EURO on many areas like Bond Market, Equity Market & foreign exchange rate etc, it also illustrates the role of ECB.

It's recommended to students who want to have a quick grasp of knowledge in the EMU. It contains many graphs and diagrams which can raise your speed of reading. However, the impact of Euro on Equity market is a little bit too short.

Highly recommended to overseas students in Europe.

Evolving E-markets: Building High Value B2B Exchanges with Staying Power

Good for Public Net Market models only, hance outdated.
Outdated - even for Sculley and Woods - who also authored their own B2B book before this collection. The title is not correct. There is little "evolution" here - this is a great book if you just want to learn about public net market models; and not how they have evolved. To a few of us, these are now "past it" in that they are no longer "where it's at". Defining how to make public models work is reasonably simple and clear; what is missing here, and what most B2B leaders crave is knowledge concerning the real evolution - that from Public to Private and then to distributed P2P business models. That is where the game will be played out.

Good if you need stuff on public, centralizing models. Pretty poor if you want to read up on the evolution of e-markets.

Solid, insightful look below the covers of B2B marketplaces
While it appears that the stock market has lost faith with B2B pure-plays, this book highlights the power of new B2B business models. It's clear that there's more to come in B2B... even if Dot-coms don't capture all of the ultimate value.

I particulary enjoyed the section by Tempkin at Forrester Research. It provided a powerful look at how the Internet would ultimately impact businesses. While I'm not totaly convinced that the Internet will completely change how big, established businesses operate, his chapter was extremely thought provoking and should probably be read by any business executive thinking about what eBusiness will mean to them.

Excellent book about the exchange rate policy.
The exchange rate policy in Europe gained increased importance by the European Monetary System. This book examines the different ways of exchange rate determination in Europe, based either on fundamental for the longrun relationship (cointegration methodology) or on purely statistical/econometric methodology for shortrun forecasting. Also, other objective of the book is to analyse the implementation of the exchange rate policy in Europe in accordance with the European Monetary System.

Very good for the specialist
Whoever may be interested in exchange rate policy in Europe, either from the academic (teachers & on-going Ph.D.s) or professional (dealing room, analysts, market-makers, governmental policy-makers) point of view, will find it very helpful to enter the practics and status quo of the matter. Pavlos Karadeloglou, currently at the European Central Bank, has done an excellent job opening this field for further research.
