Comprehensive
With the search among investors for higher yield and with the asset class being one of the notable outperformers in the recent equity market upturn, Santiso's book on emerging markets (notably Latam) could not have arrived at a more opportune time. Generally speaking, it overviews the most significant empirical findings associated with emerging markets over the past two to three years, locating them within the context of a number of distinct themes. So if one is looking for a comprehensive treatment of the asset class, notably from an academic's perspective, this book is well worth the read. The editor's synopsis is accurate in terms of its overview of the main contents of the book.
The only problem I had with the piece is the editing job. There are a few spelling mistakes, misplaced uses of punctuation, and the odd sentence that must be read several times in order to realise its main import. I suspect if a proper editing job was undertaken in the main text (the footnotes are superb and very informative)the quality of the book would be enhanced significantly.
The book is probably of less use to practitioners but this was probably not Santiso's intent. In any case, thoughtful fund managers or equity strategists would clearly find the book informative, probably compelling them to conduct further readings in the literature noted in the footnotes.

Ion Exchange for Operators and Technicians
This book was short, simple, and to the point. Written for non-engineering technicians, this book perfectly explains the basic theory, design, and operation of ion exchange systems - primarily water deionization.

It the newest revision the author has added a troubleshooting section as well as a technical reference section dealing with unit conversions and acid/base concentration conversions.

For those who wish to get a little more in depth knowledge there is a reference section which points you to various scientific papers written on the subject as well as several college level text books.

A definite "must read" for the water treatment technician!

Good place to start for Exchange Server programmers
This is very good 'how to' book and tutorial. The plentiful examples are well documented and illustrate real world tasks that fledgling Exchange Programmers may want and/or need to tackle.

There is a very detailed chapter on Forms programming giving examples of MAPI and HTML Forms and details of how to set up the system so that they can be used.

There are plenty of other topics discussed, these include:

* Using CDO to send and receive messages from C++

* Exchange Server folder scripting

* Exchange Server security

* Exchange Server administration extensions

* Exchange Server gateways

Although this book is not directly about MAPI I found it most useful in clarifying my thoughts about what I was trying to do with MAPI and how I was trying to achieve it. The examples were more than adequate to point me in the right direction, or in some cases provided exactly the code that I needed once I had added a bit of bullet proofing.

All in all I would have no hesitation in recommending this book to any programmer starting out on the Exchange Server trail.

Real Estate Exchange: Using Tax-Deferred Exchange in Real Estate Investment Management

Valuable addition to your real estate library.
This book is a concise guide to real estate exchange. Yes, it is heavily geared towards legal codes and tax codes, but that's what makes this a great reference book. If you're bored with reading "fluffy" books about all the advantages of RE exchange and want to get to the meat and potatoes of the issue, get this book. Zuckerman and Stone are experienced professionals and know the IRC like the back of their hand. It is not a book to read in one day, to be sure, but it is an in depth view of the world of exchanges and it would do you good to have a copy.

If you want to trade futures, buy this book
I first balked at the high price of this book. It didn't matter that it was written by professional futures trader, George Angell. I bought it and studied the different spread trades that he dedicates a chapter each to. This book will be useful for years to come from taking these trades. The price is well worth it in just one or two contract spreads.

The Agency that protects investors!
Most of the time one has the distinct feeling that government agencies have the mo to shrink the individuals rights. However, the securities and exchange commision was created to protect the every day investor from insider trading, hostile trading and other illegal activities. The book is very informative, well written and should be a must have for anyone interested in the stock market or the working of the federal government.

An Outstanding "Primer" on Investing
The Small Investor is an excellent book to read if you are looking for a complete and basic introduction to the subject of investing. I found the chapters on Professional Help and Selecting Mutual Funds to be particularly helpful. A feature that Jim Gard included that I really appreciate is the "Recommended Further Reading" that is at the end of each chapter. It gives you a place to go to examine the subject in more detail than would be appropriate in a "Primer." This book is ideal for anyone just entering the world of investments. Financial Planners and Money Managers should consider giving a copy of this book to each of their new clients. Jim Hagen
