This book has it all, it is a crash course for anyone who ever wanted to know the basics of statistics, everyone in my school uses it, "A Consice Couse" to get an "A".

I highly recommend this book. Solomon and Palmiter, following in the tradition of Glannon's Civil Procedure, make corporations law accessible to even the laziest law student.

I happened across this volume some years ago, and thought I remembered it to be published by Norton. Across 300 years there was quite a variety and much excellent art to these cover pages, so there's something to please a variety of tastes. I'm a musician, and fond of early music, so I selected one by a Spanish composer named "Castro" and did a photocopy, cut-and-paste job to make it part of the cover of my resume. Kudos to Amazon.com's huge catalog and excellent search engine in being able to track this down despite my slightly misspelling the editor's name.

This book first appeared in 1966, and has been through numerous reprints - mine is a 1989 reprint from Littlefield Adams. Word roots are fragments of words (prefixes, suffixes and elements - also known as segmental morphemes) that when assembled give rise to a word. This book is about those fragments - providing two lists, a list of "Roots-to-English" and a reverse list called "English-to-Roots". These lists total 250 pages of relatively small print. BUT what makes this book especially wonderful is the 21 exercises that follow the two word lists. These exercises are very well thought out and enable the reader to explore words in great detail. For example, in the exercise titled Words from One Root, the root GEN is defined as "cause, birth, kind, race". There then follows a list of 50 definitions - such as "to cause", "relating to heredity", "one who is born brilliant", "a major class or kind", "of a true kind" (The answers are generate, genetics, genius, genus, genuine). Overall, this is a wonderful book - highly recommended.

I used this book for a first course on DSP. This book is very practical. It is loaded with Matlab algorithms that will make your discrete signal processing simulation development enjoyable and challenging.
The Matlab examples cover just about every thing encountered in DSP development. It covers statistical signal analysis, adaptive filter design, FIR, IIR and other important topics.

Full of interesting facts, this an in-depth book on the complexities of the Dutch language that is still a good fun read. Not one to read front to back, more one to dip into now and then so you can "gosh! now I get it!" Even better if you also speak German, as it tips you off about some of the errors you are likely to make as an English-German speaker learning Dutch. Doesn't shirk at giving you the ever-useful info about swearing and euphemisms! I keep it in ...and Dutch and English speakers alike come out of it looking enlightened (in more than one way, that is...)

This book is an "must have". It contains complete formulars that help the average person consider the design requirements.
