Mandlebaum's verse is beautiful: he manages to keep up an iambic 11-syllable line throughout the work--just like Dante. If you can bear his comically pedantic and effete introduction, his notes are very thorough(they even point out the location of the epigraph to "Proufrock"). This edition has the Italian on the opposite side of every page as well, so it will doubtless be useful to those lucky enough to be able to read Dante in the "linguo volgro". Plus, this edition has pictures too! How many other editions (save those with Dore's work) give you a PICTURE of Cerebrus?

The Circles of hell come to life in this verse translation by Allen Mendelbaum. Mendelbaum won a National Book Award for his translation of "The Aeneid of Virgil", and his translation of Dante's Inferno is equally superb.

The format of the book is italian and english, with translated pages on the opposite of the italian verses. There are some great illustrations throughout the book, but it is the imagery created in your head that makes this such a great read.

Highly recommended. I have read other translated versions of Inferno, and this is by far the best I have read so far. An excellent book.

Mr. Levine has still written the definitive text about the US- EC Steel trade negotiations. As a frequent observer of the Commerce Department during the early 1980s, I know that his keen sense of people and politics served him well in this work. It remains in a prominent place on my own bookshelf. I agree with the review by Sam from Pasadena. If you are interested in US government, Commerce Dept, trade policy, or have a mother, you should buy this book.

I have nothing but positive things to say about the author of this book -- he's my favorite person who has ever worked in the State Department, and this is undoubtedly the best book he's ever written. Also, the dedication is heart-warming.

If you like Neoclassic furniture, this is the one and only book you should have. It profiles all of the best Neoclassic furniture (in my opinion); that made in Italy.

Besides offering a lavish production so that each piece is really viewable, this book compiles virtually every piece of the style. It's an amazing but delicious encyclopedia.

This is a necessity for anyone who loves the style or needs authoritative information on it.

This is a fantastic sourcebook for collectors and dealers, and, I imagine, students. Fascinating text; high quality production (you get what you pay for) that makes it a lifelong reference and a handsome addition to one's library; fine photography of an amazing array of the best furniture from this time; and tastful, classic design. The representation surpassed my expectations--this book is the definitive, the one and only, the first thing to go to when researching a piece. I am most surprised by the historical overviews as they read extremely well. Not every piece is covered in extreme detail, but everything I've thought to look up has been there with a useful passage of at least a few paragraphs. The book is quite large and covers all the essentials and more.

I have 2 small children under the age of 5 and they enjoy listening to this CD over and over again. They ask for it every time we get in the car! And this isn't one of those annoying kids' CDs that adults hide after a while. It is actually well told by the talented actor, Michael Palin, who is quite funny in his own right. I highly reccomend this CD for car rides with kids - especially for the long summer car trip varieties! In general, we own about 4 "Rabbit Ears" CDs and they are all entertaining and "adult friendly". But most of all, my 2 kids LOVE them! (and we get some peace and quiet in the car!)

When my five-year-old discovered Jack's tale at preschool, we ended up bringing home every version available at our local library. Of course some were much better than others. I soon decided that if I was going to be reading about Jack twelve times a day (my two-year-old by now had captured his sister's passion for the tale), I needed to find the best written, most readable version available. Having long been a fan of Rabbit Ears Radio and Rabit Ears Publishing, I did a little deeper search and found this edition. My recommendation? Of the twenty or so Jacks we have read (and read, and read. . . ) in the past few weeks, this is the one I purchased for our family's collection. I would highly recommend other books by this publisher, as well.

Being a visual artist from the west trained in the Western tradition and yet fascinated with Japanese fine art and in particular the tradition of ukiyo-e, discovering this book for me was like finding the holy grail, a book filled to the brim with stunning visual compromises between the traditions of East and West from which to take my own influences. Fantastic.

This is probably the best and most beautiful art-book I have ever read. I traces the roots of different western artforms like impressionism and abstract expressionism from the japanese traditions of brushpainting an calligraphy.. -I want it!

My dad was Hungarian, and the recipes I have from my grandmother are the same as those in this book. I was thrilled to find a few recipes in the book that I didn't already have.

I cooked them and was amazed to find they tasted exactly right, just like grandma used to make - delicious!

The best thing about it is the tips that June Meyer includes about how to make the recipe come out right. It's just like having a real Hungarian home-cooking expert at your elbow, and don't assume you know how to do everything.

Highly recommended.

These recipes flood my mind with memories of my childhood. My wife can't cook like my mother, but the book is so easy to follow that her food even tastes like my mothers. Great book.

I was searching for adult quality gift ideas when I found this gem-- Kwanzaa Crafts. The photos, stories, format and ideas captured my attention. I only wish the author included a how-to for at least one of the beautiful quilt designs.

This book was not only helpful, but it is so beautifully done. It is colorful and vibrant. i read it over and over. it as so many wonderful ideas for Kwanzaa while also providing a very meaningful understanding of the occasion. It is a very inspiring book. It makes me proud to be Affrican American and have at my disposal so many ways to demonstrate the principles of Kwanzaa to family and friends. The handmade gifts encourage the creativity in all of us. I enjoyed each section immensely. Thanks You
