This book is an outstanding source of general information about modern power plant systems. It does a great job of demonstrating how these systems interact and perform during emergencies. The one line drawings simplify concepts and help understanding.

A very good read. Entertaining and informative. Lots of solid, real world electrical engineering practice hidden below the jokes and wisecracks in the text.

Of great interest to anyone who owns and operates an electric power distribution system, especially an overhead power distribution system.

Will also be usefull to plant engineers, plant managers to help them understand the utility viewpoint and utility practices.

If you were looking for a book with lots of equations and math, this is not it.

This brief introduction to solar electric power should be everyone's first book on this exciting field. The book is very clearly written, broad in scope, and very current. The author and his lab have made major recent contributions to solar cell development, and the love for the subject shows in this work.

There are nonmathematical chapters on quantum phyics and solar cell design, and many paths for their further development. Then their uses are described in powering devices, houses, buildings, and large-scale possibilities.

My only disappointment was that the author does not discuss the fundamental limitations on solar cell efficiency, so I still have no idea where this boundary lies.

the book is in simple format and is under stanable even by a student who doesn't know any thing about pspice .it gives a correct picture ,how to operate pspice for specified application.so i like this book most than any other books about pspice.

This is an excellent reference book for those of us considering a hybrid PV/generator off-the-grid system. I bought mine directly from the publisher several months ago, and am very pleased that Amazon is carrying it. It has excellent lists of compatible equipment, though not exhaustive. Also has *indispensible* DO's/DON'T's and rules of thumb that were crucial for me in selecting my equipment. The one thing that this book did NOT tell me was that there are LP gas conversion kits that will fit any gasoline-driven generator. I wracked my brain and my resources trying to find a generator that ran on LP instead of gasoline, finally found one at my local LP gas company only to discover that it was one of the generators that I had seen in catalogs, but that my LP gas company had installed the gasoline-to-LP conversion kit (which they sold as a standard item). Arg. I WOULD have bought a different generator had I known this.
But, all to say, if you are considering a hybrid PV/generator electrical system, BUY THIS BOOK. Its not expensive, and it can save you TONS of money, especially when planning for your system and making decisions about expensive equipment.

This is a must-read for anyone starting off in the world of quantum wells. Mr. Shik has made fundamental ideas very easy to grasp. For those with more sophisticated tastes, this is a book to keep close at hand, for those times when you have difficulty remembering the answers to easy questions!

Rechargeable batteries are everywhere these days - in cell phones, emergency lighting and consumer electronics like cordless tools, etc. Many folks just buy these things without giving the batteries a second thought. Although that in itself is a testimony to the well-developed technology in today's batteries, there is always more to know. For those who want to get the most from their rechargeables - more charge cycles, longer discharge times and longest service life, reading this book is a must. Although it would have been nice to get detailed info on the latest technology such as lithium-ion and nickel metal hydride, the most commonly used batteries are still NiCds and lead-acid.

This book is an excelent help to be aplied over maintenance engeneering and evaluation of the reliabilty in Power installations

I found that this book is a very useful source for solving problems related to elctrical machines. It provides clear and easy to follow instructions that are well laid out and easy to follow. It offers a varying level of problems ranging from the fundamentals through to the more complex machine problems. This is a useful aid or reference for anyone looking for a book to help them in their studies and wants to have more practice at solving problems relating to this subject.
