A fantastic refererence for your HVAC/R library
I love the way the author set this book up. You gradually build on what you learn and never really feel that you are being thrown in to hard. The writing is fantastic. Not to difficult in technological terms for the novice and yet levels with the seasoned veteran just right. When you complete a chapter , you are introduced to a " In the field scenario" service call. You imagine yourself at the call working out the problem in the component. You see how to step by step, use the common sense approach to troubleshooting and gain good skills in those procedures. The calls vary from simple to very complex. One thing is for very certain. You will enjoy having this book in your professional HVAC/R library.

Clear straightforward coverage of complicated material
I am always on the prowl for books which can help untangle the somewhat complicated world of alternating current. In particular, how inductive and capacitive reactance interact in AC circuits. Anyone who has tried to teach AC theory will appreciate the problem. The complex nature of the subject lends itself to explanations which are shrouded by arcane formulas. Frequently these formulas are simply presented as "facts" and the students grind out pages of impressive calcuations which they barely understand. "Electricity 4" lays bare the magic behind RCL circuits in clear, easy to understand language. Yes, the formulas are still there, but they are not the heart of the explanation. If you have ever struggled with RCL concepts I highly recommend "Electricity 4." Reviewed by Carter Stanfield, Air Conditioning Technology Instructor, Athens Area Technical Institute, Athens, GA

A fantastic history of the development of electricity
Did you know, in the early days of electricity, the power went off at 11:00 pm each night? Or that electricity was billed at a flat rate of $1 per day? Or that most homes had only one or two outlets and a light bulb hanging from a string?

This book is a compendium of both fascinating facts and substantial histories of the development of residential electrical usage in our country.

I love old houses and historical information, and perhaps because of that, I found this book to be a fascinating read. Some parts of it were a wee bit dry, where he delved into some of the more technical aspects of this modern utility, but the majority of the book was a treasure.

After reading this book, and gaining an better understanding of the history of electricity, I'd say, without hesitation, that introducing the modern convenience of electrical current into our homes may be the most significant discovery of the last 500 years.

This book should "spark" the imagination of any K-12 child
This is a nicely illustrated, clearly written book. . . . It does a good job of simply yet accurately presenting complex concepts such as how nerve impulses are transmitted and the electrical stimulus behind generating a heartbeat. It discusses the development of the pacemaker by an electrical engineer named Earl Bakken (the founder of Medtronic Inc.)This book would make an excellent addition to middle school and high school libraries.

A unique, logical and comprehensive approach to the topic.
A logical as oppose to historical development of the subject. As a rigorous work the reader is well rewarded with a thorough command of the topic. Much better than traditional text books. An excellent teaching tool.

Highly recommended for Tech Schools and Community Colleges.
This is a first-year textbook suitable for the Electronics Programs of Technical Schools and Community Colleges. EEE is available in two versions - electron-flow and conventional-current. Both versions use complex algebra in later AC analysis chapters. No calculus. Professors will not give it up once they start using it and students rarely resell the book. The book is written in such a way that it is also suitable for self-paced instruction
