From an algebraic and trigonometric standpoint, this has to be the best introductory electric circuit analysis text ever written. It has very good problems for building a foundation in practical electric circuit analysis techniques. I started with a text by one of Boctors canadian counterparts Boylestad and I must say that he makes these concepts overly difficult with his over emphasized form of explanation. Boylestad seems to be portraying himself as some sort of technical literary genius and mathematician. Boctor Clearly explains these concepts with just the right tone with excellent examples. He makes you think, then gives you just what you need to help you pin fundamental circuit concepts down. Although written in 1992 (second edition), and out of print,it is still a great book to learn by today. I recommend it highly for those who are tired of wading through the mess of practical Elecronics text that are out there that do not plainly state the foundational concepts while trying to confuse and frustrate. Boctor needs to be commended for writing this book. It is a good one to get started with.

In my opinion, this is one of the finest circuits textbooks for undergraduate electrical engineering students currently in print. Dr. Franco thoroughly and clearly covers the fundamentals of electric circuits. In addition, to provide students with physical picture as to how circuits work, he includes several interesting applications of circuits throughout the text. Dr. Franco thoroughly covers operational amplifiers, ac resonance, and complex frequency, subjects often slighted in newer texts on electric circuits fundamentals. The technical quality and writing style of this text are excellent. Finally, throughout the text there are essays/interviews on the electrical engineering profession; these will be helpful to students who are unsure about the electrical engineering profession as a career.

The book allows anyone from an electrical designer to an electrical engineer a practical way to develop their skills in power system engineering. There are many worked examples which get you to understand the concepts being put across.

The short circuit method discussed (without the annoying use of the per unit system) is flexible and powerful. I refer to it time and again.

This is a must-have resource.

I first learned of this book from the "further reading" in Microsoft Encarta and tracked down a copy of the 1987 edition in the public library. I have wanted a copy since then and finaly found one here. The book is primarily aimed at Power Engineering students but is an excellent reference for anybody in the Power business and fits nicely next to "Applied Protective Relaying" and other such books used as industry standards. I recommend you make a place for it on your shelf

I aquired this book as part of the price of tuition for an IEEE class on electrical contacts.

This is more of a collection of individual papers or topics than a text book. It is basically a continuation of Ragnar Holm's famous work.

If you are in the field of electrical contacts this is a book you can't live without!
