That collection only grew when Lucas scored with the popular Indiana Jones trilogy, which added all manner of whips, swords, and idols to the archive. This photo-packed book chronologically surveys the collection's highlights: props, models, storyboards, backdrops, and sketches, spanning all six films. Fans of either (or both) series will be gratified by a glimpse at these oh-so-cool artifacts. Unfortunately, the text isn't quite as edifying as the pictures. Behind-the-scenes insights, such as the fact that Imperial Walkers were a late substitution for Norwegian army tanks and that Indy's shooting of the swordmaster in the market was a fatigue-induced ad lib, often take a back seat to unnecessary plot recaps and equally superfluous explanations (for example, that the Force is sort of like chi). Of course, the artifacts from the archive are the real attraction, and they don't disappoint. --Paul Hughes

Almost every page includes a "tips" section--these range from bitmap explanations and exporting to duotone hints and tricks for color. Along with the manageable step-by-step projects in the book, Hunt includes a brilliant color studio and visual gallery filled with final images (these can also be found on the CD-ROM) that include corresponding sites in the book. For example, she directs readers to "find something you like, point finger, exclaim 'Cool!' then flip to the chapter that explains the process. Enjoy!" Some of the tutorials take you from past images--in one section, from the '30s and '40s--and show you how to add sci-fi pulp and comic-book style touches to your designs.
The accompanying CD-ROM is packed with tutorial files in native CorelDRAW formats, animation files, button and interface design samples, clip-art pics, plug-ins, graphics goodies, and f/x utilities. This is a great resource for graphics designers ready to plunge into the world of splashy creations and advance their careers with a deeper understanding of CorelDRAW 9. --Brooke Gilbert
Topics covered: CorelDRAW interface and toolset, new features of CorelDRAW 9 (bitmaps, effects filters, Artistic Media tool, outlines to objects conversion, Interactive Mesh Fill tool), and animation (using CorelDRAW and PHOTO-PAINT).

Where's the stuff on the CD?Please, may I have a new CD included the plug-ins/softwares..? I thought Coriolis was a good book as those Wow!-books becasue the wow!-books do include the files/plug-ins/softwares as they say on the cover/inside the book.

Some valid points, but....His points about Ritalin are well made. He's absolutely correct in stating that it can be a risky drug for children to be on, that we haven't done enough appropriate longitudinal research, and that the side effects for some children can be problematic, at best. The key words, however, are some children. I know children who are on the drug who aren't having any problems with it. The whole issue of what is a cause and what is an effect is a confusing one, and this book doesn't make it any clearer.
In terms of the safety of Ritalin, the research and studies Dr. Walker mentions are based on such small sample sizes that they can't be taken as proof. His writing suggested to me that he was attempting to suggest causal relationships when he only had enough evidence to point out a correlation.
Now, Dr. Walker's points about HMOs and the lack of proper diagnosis of children are ones I can completely agree with. It's in this area that his evidence and argument is the strongest. He does a good job of explaining the different possible non ADHD causes of hyperactive behaviour. I did find this part of the book a bit long, however.
The latter parts of the book, dealing with advocating for your child with medical and educational professionals, is the most effective and useful part of the book. I would give the book two stars simply for the chapter where he gives readers observation sheets to fill out and give to the doctor as a basis for a proper medical examination. His advice on dealing with these professionals is sound and easy to implement -- he takes alot of the mystery and fear out of working with doctors and teachers. I would have like to see him encourage readers more to press for wider societal change, such as loosening the grip of HMOs and relieving some of the pressure on our schools -- changes that can only occur on a legislative/cultural level -- rather than simply pitting parents against doctors and teachers, however.
This book is worth looking at if you know nothing other causes of hyperactive behavior. It's got some useful information, but I wouldn't make it the only book I read on the subject.
A Must Read !!!!
I was his patient as a child. It is hard to talk about this stuff now, as I am a thirty-something adult with a very healthy and happy life. I have a wonderful husband, a 17-month-old daughter, and a baby on the way. Dr. Walker diagnosed me as being allergic to gluten and as being a borderline diabetic who with strict diet management would hopefully never have to take insulin. My diet went into effect when I was eight, immediately after my parents brought me home from Dr.Walker's multi-day visit. It worked. I don't know how long the diet took to work because I was so young, but my parents said that the change was like night and day. A normal, healthy, child without Ritalin. In adulthood I still do not need insulin.
It is not always easy to find out what the problem is. In fact, my parents probably spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars, many hours, and many trips to different doctors. (We visited Dr.Walker who practiced in CA, while we lived in AZ.) Boy do I owe my parents! But there can be reasons for such behavior that take some serious digging. Ritalin, often, is just a cover-up and a heck of a lot easier to do. But for sake of the health of the child please consider alternatives.

Kind of Hard to Believe. When the author decides she will take a vacation to rediscover her Irish roots and take a break from everyday stress, we discover immediately that she has not had the best of mental health in the past, herself. Taking that into consideration might explain the commonplace descriptions of the leprechauns- as though she's been seeing them all her life.
Reading this would convince one that perhaps she HAS.
Tanis not only speaks to the family of leprechauns, but also the other spirits. She goes shopping with them, shares her cabin with all sorts of fantastic creatures a five-year-old would delight in reading about. As the book progresses, it just begins to irritate those of us who are "denser" than Ms,. Helliwell (I know not her current marital status). Because she's so willing to believe in the supernatural, she's therefore able to see and communicate with them.
According to her, the leprechauns have become her friends and still visit her periodically! They're the reason she's written this book. To tell us mortals (what does she believe herself to be?) that we should not eat lettuce because it screams when it's uprooted. (I swear to you, this is ACTUALLY in the book, mentioned several times.)
For what it's worth, the book is charming and quaint fiction. As a realistic look at the supernatural, it's simply not up to par. Read it if you'd like a refreshing work of fiction or a nice break from your typical gory Stephen King cold-blooded murder mystery. For something about the supernatural, keep looking. Even the most open-minded reader would find this exceedingly difficult to believe.
An Enchanting Tale from the Imaginal RealmMuch of SUMMER WITH THE LEPRECHAUNS consists of dialogue between Tanis and the leprechauns. One leprechaun in particular spends hour after hour describing the world of elementals, in order to improve communication between humans and elementals.
SUMMER WITH THE LEPRECHAUNS is a truly delightful book that will help you open your mind to new worlds and get you thinking about how magical this world really is!

Thank you, Dr. Wright...
Thorough Coverage of a Great SubjectAnd how great is the benefit! A simple substance, a testosterone cream, rubbed on the skin, is likely to improve a broad range of conditions, including sexual performance, cardiovascular health, energy, and strength.
Unfortunately, prevailing medical dogma sees testosterone supplementation as a villain, which will cause prostate enlargement and prostate cancer. The open-minded doctor who reads this book will surely think otherwise. The possibilitly, nonetheless, of promoting an EXISTING prostate cancer is candidly discussed and precautions are advised. One must know his prostate before proceeding.
To this end there are two chapters on the prostate, the most definitive and complete discussion that I have seen (and I have read hundreds of pages on the subject).
Most authorities will contine to withhold this information from the public on the pretext of its being scientifically unproven. What a shame. The reader should trust his own judgement as to the strength of the evidence and should find an unbiased, informed physician with whom to work.
Great book - get it.

Useful if you knew nothing about the media beforehandHowever, Steyer distorts a grim picture to make it appear even worse than it is. Yes, Colin Powell may be friends with the chairman of AOL Time Warner, and maybe that had something to do with his son being appointed to the head of the FCC, but Steyer neglects to point out that Michael Powell served as an FCC commissioner for years beforehand, and that his father was a board member of AOL/TW until he resigned to join the Bush administration.
Furthermore, Steyer's suggestions of what parents can do lacks the specifics that would lead to action. He advocates increasing "media awareness" in our children, but doesn't suggest many sample activities that might help our children control their media intake themselves. Our children will grow in an environment where they will not be isolated from the mass media no matter what we do in our own homes. They will see and hear about terrible things, like it our not. We need to provide them with the tools to cope which they will use the rest of their lives.
A Left-wing Slant on the TubeAs to Steyer's take on television and media programming in general, I still lean towards turning it off all together. Steyer believes that with improved programing, more regulation, more taxes (on media and on the rest of us) educational and meaningful television can be revived. This all sounds feasible although I have no more interest in paying increased taxes or creating a larger public television empire any more than being forced to watch Madonna, Britteny or anyone else gyrate, dance, etc in order to sell me more Coke, records, football games etc.
I encourage anyone interested in controlling the tube and computers to read The Plug In Drug by Marie Winn, a much more balanced and ideologically-free look at the issue. Bottom line, turn off the TV and spend more time with your kids reading, talking, or playing. And start early; once media habits begin they are difficult to break.

Not worthy of a National Book Club
Six StarsThere is something lurking beneath the surface of this book that is so funny and true and understated and delicious. The point of view is bizarre to great effect. We are sometimes zoomed in, given glimpes of characters' deepest feelings and thoughts and other times zoomed way out to a very broad, distant description. Sharpe uses this technique brilliantly.
You will remember this book's characters--ascerbic, deeply teenaged Chris, Cathy the Jewish Catholic-wannabe, their father, Bernard who is the living personification of funny and sad all at once.
You may not realize that the plot is moving forward. It might feel like you're ambling through the pages, enjoying scalding commentary on modern life, but you're actually heading somewhere.
Enjoy the ride.
