After thoroughly perusing the pages of this textbook, it became clearly that the author, W. W. Hughes, touches on every topic and subtopic associated with the discipline of Environmental Toxicology.

Unlike other textbooks dealing with the same scientific discipline, Hughes does not appear to be unitalented or uniknowledgable when dealing with the discipline of environmental toxicology. Rather, Hughes shows that he is very knowledgable about this discipline as well as its many subareas and topics. This textbook touches on every area and related subarea of environmental toxicology from organ toxicity and specificty to the finer components of a detailed and scientifically adequate risk assessment.

Moreover, the author breaks down the various classes of environmental pesticides for the reader in terms of names, biochemical class, solubility in water, and their Modes of Actions on terrestrials, aquatic, and invertebrate species.

This textbook is a must for any student, instructor, government biologist/chemist/toxicologist, or industrialist desiring a more indepth and perhaps more scientific knowledge about the components which are used in the discipline of environmental toxicology.

Hughes makes sure this textbook stands out as an informative science novel from an environmental point of view. It is a must-read textbook that will definitely hold the reader's interest for a long period of time.

Don't let the title fool you. This book is not just for women. It's for anyone who wants to make a God-ordained difference in the people that God brings them into contact with. As the author writes, the Esther Effect is "the impact you have when God places you in a situation in which you can encourage or influence others or change the course of events." I've been in this situation many times, and I've often looked to the book of Esther for the courage I needed to go forward. This book will help you. It highlights all of Esther's important traits that helped her go forward--self-confidence in God, courage, character, etc. The book is easy to read and well-organized (I got through half of it while waiting in the doctor's office) and will keep your attention. A jewel of a book.

As a practicing clinician and a researcher, I had frequently consulted the first edition of Experimental and Clinical Neurotoxicology since its publication in 1980, and I am glad that a new edition has now become available because considerable advances have been made in this field over the past 20 years. Glancing through the pages of the new edition, I note that the editors have kept up the high standard of the earlier work. The text has been thoroughly revised and updated, and new subjects added. I have no doubt that it will continue to be a most authoritative book in neurotoxicology.

it is an interesting boo

This is a great book for engineers who want to gain some basic knowledge about explosives. The book has detailed chemical descriptions and design equations. It is a very valuable book, especially for me, since I will be going into the Air Force. I would reccomend this book to anyone, but engineers will get the most out of it. My only negative comment is that the price is rather high, but that is pretty normal for engineering texts.

Brandon is the first I've read who widened the possibilities concerning Jesus and his immediate survivors in regard to the oppression experienced by the Jews in the first century. That the man of love portrayed in the Gospels - and his followers - could even tacitly support the Romans and their reckless, rapacious cruelty is impossible. Brandon's work showed that these men not only had to be deeply aware of the Jews' cause against Rome, they were likely part of the opposition to Rome's presence and influence. This work and Brandon's earlier "Jesus and the Zealots" made this very clear.

Brandon's conclusions are sometimes supported only by theory. Despite this occassionally lack of factual information, I found the conjecture he makes in these cases possible and even likely. You have to be willing to understand this stuff over a period of years unless you're already steeped in the jargon of the historians. But check it out.

The sequel to Fantastic Antone Succeeds reports on experiences coping with the problems of coming of age and the special challenges the syndrome presents.

Michael Rutter is a psychiatrist who is a sociologist. It's a rare combination. This particular book is widely cited in the resiiency literature, yet few have read it outside of graduate courses. I knew of the basics of it as a national researcher studying how schools can prevent violence. It wasn't until a few months ago I actually read the book. I wish I had much earlier. Some folks will squawk about the book being written in 1979. It's really timeless. There are powerful lessons to understand in this book. The book sorts out the effects of schools on four domains: achievement, attendance, behavior and delinquency. Each of those domains is studied in the context of inner-city London. Through precision measurement of virtually every aspect of the school environment, Rutter and his colleagues bring us to an understanding of how the smallest of things in a school setting have a large impact, such as the number of student jobs in a building or the amount of student work hung on the walls. The book is shy on describing why these processes work in the way I would like, and I think it's important to turn to the work of people like G.Roy Mayer or Beth Sulzer-Azaroff (Lasting Change)to get a careful understanding of why the processes work. In the age when people are concerned about children shooting others in schools, I think this book is a fundamental book to understand what we must do.

I think that this is the best book of Dr.Webster-Doyle's internationally acclaimed, award winning books for young people. It helps them understand the basic structure of conditioned thinking. Like the books of J. Krishnamurti and Dr.David Bohm, he explains to young people in clear and straight forward langauge what these eminent scholars are writing about, yet he is not imitating them. Conditioning is conditioning--it is a fact. And the fact is that Dr.Webster-Doyle has so intelligently brought this out in this invaluable book is of great improtance. Do get it!
