Most of the subject of radiation effects on electronics is in this book, or M&A's SEU book. The rest you can only learn from reading back issues of IEEE NSREC or on-the-job from senior gurus or having a security clearance.

Read E. Lynn Harris' "If This World Were Mine". I must say that the book was captivating and most interesting. Surely, Mr. Harris has a nack for writing extraordinary novels. This is the first I have read of his work. However, it shall not be the last. Keep up the great work, Mr. Harris. This book serves to inform the reader of the current progress of research on eicosanoid signal transduction in invertebrate organisms, namely insects. The author is an expert in the field not only in the United States but in Europe as well and has published extensively on this subject. David Stanley's discussion of eicosanoids as signal molecules illustrates the biological significance of these molecules from the cellular level to their impact on physiological ecology. After reading this book I concluded that eicosanoids are likely to be biologically significant to all animals. This book is a standard reference in my laboratory. I recommend it to students interested in invertebrate biology and scientists conducting research as well.

What a fascinating theory: that electrodynamic fields can indicate moods and other psychological characteristics. A most interesting application of this theory was for birth control: the data showed that, through non-instrusive methods, one can determine exact moments of ovulation.

Why hasn't anybody followed up on this theory? I'd love to see data developed by more recent experiments using the most modern equipment.

This is not one more book, but the foundation of a theory not yet understood and much more not yet accepted. It opens new frontiers in biology and life sciences. The role of electromagnetism is vital to the concept of life. Each cell should not be considered and studied as one unit, but as part of one organism (my though is that maybe the one organism should be considered as part of one ecosystem). If you are trying to answer how external electromagnetic fields can affect a living organism, then you will find unique the idea that field intensity is not the criterion. Weak fields can be more important than strong fields.
Anyway, this book is classical and rare. It revolutionizes life sciences, enters unexplored regions. If you are a true scientist take it, if you can find it.

Mary Patton's book addresses the issue of emotional abuse inflicted upon children by those who are supposed to be educating them. As the mother of five boys,I have watched the damage done by the thoughtless cruelty of teachers who are unhappy with their lives and burdened by the baggage of their past. The saddest part is that these teachers do not understand how painful their offhand comments can be.Two of my sons have learning disabilities despite IQ's in the superior range. My fourth grader often comes home sullen or tearful with another story about some humiliating comment from a teacher. When his older brother was in middle school, he would sneak out of school and go home. School was about as welcoming as prison. The author brings this situation to light with compassion and understanding.

Starting with the laws of protection, proceeding through the hunting of species and the myriad of reasons that some animals are threatened; to the historical context for conservation efforts. This book offers students a fairly comprehensive look at heated issues with good support materials. Very good science book, with black and white illustrations. I would recommend this one for the 7th grade level up and through the 12th grade.

Highsmith has put together an extremely insightful and painstakingly researched and edited biography of endothelin. As a medical student, I was blown away by the current implications of research on endothelin. I highly recommend this work. My only question regards how the recent decoding of the human genome will affect the research currently being performed by endothelin scholars?

In addition to statistics about exposure results and links between environmental hazards and specific diseases, Environmental Health Sourcebook provides a glossary of related terms and directories of resources. An excellent updated edition.

For Post-Grad Environment students this book is essential to patch up areas of defficieny in your scientific knowledge.
