This book explains why people in certain areas of the world developed lighter skin, straight hair and long noses. It also explains how different races of people developed. He backs all
of his theories with solid scientific evidence and impeccable logic.

DRUG-INDUCED nephropathy is of great interest given the
ever-growing number of medications, including herbal, that patients are taking. Also, it has become apparent that there are several environmental and industrial toxins thatcan cause nephropathy. Clinical Nephrotoxins: Renal Injury From Drugs and Chemicals is a hardcover book that explores the mechanisms by which medications, environmental toxins, and industrial
toxins can cause renal disease. The book is a 712-page, 35-chapter work, written by 95 international authors.

Most chapters have contributions from multiple authors and provide very good, up-to-date information and a very thorough reference list. Most of the chapters flow very well, often commenting (when applicable) on clinical manifestations, pathology, pathophysiology of renal injury (known or suspected),
and preventive measures. However, I will say that a couple of chapters did not follow this form, and I was slightly disappointed with these chapters. All chapters have figures and tables, including pictures of biopsies, when applicable. I found the figures and tables to be quite helpful and aided in my understanding of the topic being presented.
Overall, this book provides a very good overview on the mechanisms of drug- and toxin induced nephropathy.Up-to-date information on current clinically relevant medications (including herbal) and worldwide environmental and industrial toxins is provided. It would be a welcome addition to any health care provider's collection of reference books.

The aspects that were enlightening have been presented to us through the combined efforts of researchers who truly reflected on the best interests of humanity. These dedicated individuals recognized the properties of the brain that are so negatively affected by the ravages of cocaine, in addition to displaying their sincerity in enabling the American populace to recognize the truth as it pertains to the devastation on the unborn, following them into their early years and, finally, the horrendous outcome as it displays learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, anger and aggression issues. This book is a must for those who are attempting to solve a mystery concerning the deficits that are growing clearer regarding our youth, and what we may be looking forward to pertaining to the future of America. I highly recommend this book as, while it is an expose (and exceedingly well written) on the negative effects on the brain of the developing fetus, it is a composite of well-documented research efforts by scientists who clearly recognize a need toward deeper evaluative efforts concerning the issue of brain damage. This information doesn't conflict at all with research in other areas of psychological knowledge-gathering exposes.

There is this storybook. It's the one you always want your parents to read aloud, over and over again. When you go to sleep, you want to become part of the poetry, and help the two kittens, Brush and Hush. Carelessly, and by no fault of their own, they transform the world by haphazardly dumping and mixing the colorful paints from their endless supply of cans. The pages in my old book from the 1950s are becoming brittle and yellow, but it still hold a special place on my bookshelf. The imaginative illustrations and charming story are an endearing part of my childhood. It brings back wonderful memories to this day.

We use this text to teach a course on color therapy and how these vibrations affect the mind, body and spirit. I've never seen a more comprehensive book yet on the material and am hoping this will never go out of print!! We need it...

Columbia Guide To American Environmental History is the only major reference to explore these themes, and deserves a place on the shelf of any college-level library with a strong collection in environmental issues and political intervention.

Without having to consult a post-modern dictionary, Joanna Macy and co-author, Molly Young Brown give inspiring and heartfelt explanations and examples of their lifework: dealing with the roots of conscious and unconscious pain that we all feel with regards to ourselves, while bringing home the concept of our connectedness to this world. They point out the fallacy of basic assumptions that we can fix whatever problems we create (the fix-it mentality), as well as dealing with resulting issues of burn-out and stress by alternatively doing the "work that reconnects". The dynamic model set forth in this book recognizes the role of community and encourages us out of an antagonistic "us" versus "them" concept which tends to lead us towards short-term NIMBY (not in my backyard) solutions.

In the preface to the book, Joanna Macy writes, "THIS IS A GUIDEBOOK. It maps ways into the vitality and determination we each possess to take part in the healing of our world."

Undoubtedly one of the best books on Dialysis related complications, written by leading authorities on the subject. The content is appropriately divided into three sections;the first one dealing with proceedure related complications, the second one with patient-related complications and the third one with special situations which contains a chapter on RRT in the intensive care units.Critical care Nephrology is a relatively new area in Nephrology and there are very few books that have devoted an entire chapter to this special area in Nephrology.This section also contains chapters on approach to dialysis in other countries and outcomes. This is a very useful book for all Nephrology Trainees, Internists and Nephrologists and is worth the money spent.
