My life turned around when I finished this book. So much was revealed about alcohol--for my wife as well. We were in control with our drinking at the time, but Hoffman's book made us rethink where we were going with alcohol.

Joyce Hoffman is a good read. Her across-the-board approach to social drinking is a needed package for diverse groups--both in the workplace and out.

ever since ,in the beginning of the 20th century. prostitutes increase rapidly. due to some reasons ,its been a threaten to both the end of humen dignity and respect.

After asking for help for a book with effects for my guitar, the sales person at Borders suggested this book. It answered my questions, and I bought it. It is a must for guitarists wanting to find his/her voice on guitar. I also enjoy the "famous guitarists" section; by listening to what guitarists have done in the past, I found what I can do now and in the future. The approach of the text and the CD are great. D. Brewster makes it appear easy, but it is an important addition to my desired style.

I saw this book in a music store and looked it over, then i ordered it online (it was cheaper that way!), and I must say that it's a good book for beginner's who are overwhelmed by all of the different effects and tonal options that guitarists have today.
The CD is good, and there are a bunch of solid riffs and licks on there to keep you interested while you're reading from the book. I also like the way some of the examples feature the effect off and then the riff is repeated with it turned on so you can hear the difference.
The effects chain diagrams and proper connections were helpful.
It covers just about every aspect of getting a good tone and keeping it.
Highly recommended!

I read this book in 1977 following the publishing of it. I have just reread it in 1999 and it is more pertinent today with the sealed office buildings that people work in daily. This subject needs modern attention by medical people.

I loved this book as this book is with facts collected from author's experience. Many hidden treasures of nature can be analysed using his findings. Many solutions can be found for many medical problems.

The Jahn-Teller theorem was presented in 1936, however, the first clear experimental evidence of a Jahn-Teller system was provided only in 1952. Moreover, early experimental and theoretical works had concentrated on systems possessing symmetries that were octahedral or lower; icosahedral systems were very rare and exotic. Interestingly enough, the oldest known work on the icosahedral symmetry and molecular spectra (L. Tisza, Z. Phys. 82, 48, 1933 - not quoted in the book), published when no icosahedral molecules were known, acknowledges a help from E. Teller. The discovery of the C60 molecule has however focused interest on the icosahedral Jahn-Teller systems as many cations and anions of C60 are Jahn-Teller active. The new book presents a comprehensive survey of the topic.

This volume is the first book that focuses on the icosahedral systems themselves and the authors based it on decades of their own research experience in the Jahn-Teller effect. The book is divided into six chapters on 153 pages, followed by eight appendixes on 45 pages. The introductory part places C60 into a wider context of boron-rich solids containing B12 or B84 clusters, B12H12, smaller and higher fullerenes like C20 and C80, icosahedral structures with 13, 19, 55, and 147 atoms in xenon clusters, the smallest icosahedral systems Si13, Na13, or Mg13, and the Berry phase. The following four chapters will be enjoyed be specialists as they systematically discuss various conceptual and theoretical aspects of icosahedral systems and their Jahn-Teller behavior in general (icosahedral symmetry and its effects; triplets; quartets; quintets).

The last and the longest chapter represents a bridge to experiments. Electron spin resonance, vibrational, and electronic spectra are discussed and illustrated on observed data. Although the discussion is mostly directed towards the Jahn-Teller effects in isolated icosahedral complexes, the chapter closes with molecular crystals and superconductivity in the fullerides. High-temperature superconductivity has indeed enhanced interest in vibronic coupling.

The well prepared and produced book is of a primary interest of fullerene theoreticians and spectroscopists. However, its introductory and application parts appeal to the whole fullerene community.

I wrote The Joy of Running which was published by Lippincott in 1976. Since then I have pursued the concept of Paleoanalysis which I mentioned in TJOR. I notce that many people still run.I wonder of anyone is interested in my later discoveries.

The Joy of Running is a product of the 1970's that is as relevant today as in the mid-70's. Dr. Kostrubala shows the reader--most convincingly, I feel--how running and general exercise can not only bolster one's cardiovascular system, but can also help lift such burdens as clinical depression. Dr. Kostrubala's writing is clear,and his enthusisasm is evident on every page.

The original edition, hardcover with beautiful dust jacket, was printed in 1975 in England. It is one of my favorite all-time photo books, since in includes shots of Borobudur, the Ziggurat, the Red Fort in Delhi, Angkor Wat, Ctesiphon in Iraq - lots of photos hard to find even on the net. History all the way to the opera house in Sydney. A most fascinating book. Large: 9 1/4 x 11 3/4, 383 pages, a sound minimal text with each plate numbered and easily referenced - to me this is one of the great books. Everyone who has travelled, or who wants to travel, will enjoy this tremendously. (Many of the areas shown are difficult and often dangerous to visit, now.) Try it. You'll like it.

This volume should be among the first 5 books anyone interested in the history of landscape must buy, no wonder it's included in the academic readings in many fine schools. The B&W photographs are remarkable, and it's filled with plans and diagrams from all over the world. In the last revised edition, covers the actual trends in landscape architecture, as well as asian and pre-columbian cultures. As an architect starting out in this field of study, I found it very helpful, and I'm sure others will!

In my opinion this is one of the most important books ever written. It goes into detail about how north and south pole magnetic energies affect everything on our planet. Using the north or south pole of a magnet you can alter the genetics of plants, animals and yes, humans. Many ailments can be eliminated or greatly improved provided that the correct pole is used for the specific problem. Magnets can also be used to literally slow the aging process. The use of south pole magnetic energy can have dangerous and undesired effects. This is a serious threat that all people should know about. I have taken a look at a number of other books on magnets and nothing compares to the books of Albert Roy Davis and Walter C. Rawls, Jr.

Mr. Davis, the American pioneer in magnetic research and healing, began his research in the 30's. This book covers a 40 year span of research, correcting misconceptions in the application of unipoled magnet therapy for health treatment of ailments. He explains how he cured cancer in the laboratory in over 300 cases of rodents using bionorth pole energy; tells how to increase ESP; and includes photographs of cell mutation and their cure using bionorth energy. A must-have book for every novice and professional in this field

I picked this book up in an attitude of utter skepticism. "TM can make a more peaceful society - hogwash!"

Then I read the whole book. It is well-written, well-argued, and based on what seems to be very good research. It looks like there may be some truth to this unbelievable claim - if enough people practice this form of meditation, social indicators improve. Less crime, less "noise" in the society, more coherence.

This is a genuinely hopeful book. I'm glad I read it.
