A great vacation book
I thought this book was incredible, the characters are well developed and very exciting. The worst part about this book is it's no longer in print and very hard to find!

the beast within/john o'shea
have just finished reading this excellent book. Should have been written years ago...ANyone living with a PTSD person should read this..An easy read and offers insight and clousure...

Forgotten Warrior
'The Beast Within' is unique in that it speaks to the difficulties encountered by military personnel *after* their tour of duty. The horrors of war have been well documented, and rightly so. However, the horrors of life *after* war, unfortunately, have not been voiced. The Beast Within breaks the silence - and shares that which is known to Veterans and no one else: the difficulties in resuming a non-military life in an environment where understanding and gratitude are too often overshadowed with prejudices, indifference and apathy - an environment that assumes 'he'll be OK now that he's home'. The Beast Within challenges the belief that the government provides for those who served and enables its soldiers to rejoin society after forcing them from it. The Beast Within sheds light on the fact that the military mindset is unlike anything else - and that real assistance and resources are necessary to adapt to a life where death and destruction are no longer the focus of one's everyday being, i.e., a life after war.

Before It Is Too Late
Mr. Peccei is the late wartime resistence hero, successful businessman and founder of the first think tank to severely assess humanity's chances for survival, The Club of Rome. He and the Soka Gakkai International president, Daisaku Ikeda, present their views as individual statements and in discussions on the complex web of natural and human-made problems threatening humanity's future.

Brilliant Commentary on Powerful Issues
Aurelio Peccei, founder of the Club of Rome, was a wartime resistance fighter, leading industrialist, and the founding president of one of the world's most renowned think tanks.

Daisaku Ikeda leads Soka Gakkai International, one of the largest nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) affiliated with the United Nations. During the past four decades he has visited over 50 nations, working non-stop for the total abolition of violence and war. He also founded Soka Education Systems and Soka University in 1971 to promote humanistic education throughout the world.

This book, developed through years of thinking, study, and reflection on the parts of both authors, brings to bear the complex web of problems threatening the habitability of the planet Earth. Presenting their comments alternately, they discuss how we have ended up on a collision course with Mother Nature.

They also talk of ways to meet the challenges of the future with optimism: through an internal, personal revolution of the spirit on the individual level, and through a grass-roots, participatory approach to problem-solving on the social level. Humanity's best hope for the future, they agree, is an ethical revolution that will enable people to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their roles in the inter-relatedness of problems that threaten our future.

The Best I Can Be: Living with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome-Effects

The Best I Can Be
This is a wonderful little book written by a mother and daughter. The daughter has Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, and this is their journey together, from both of their perspectives, in living with these disabilities. Very insightful and full of parenting tips for others in this situation. Teachers and health care professionals would gain great insight by reading this as well.

Wonderful
A look at FAS/E from a personal point of view. What a great way of getting the message of how FAS/E affects children, out into the world!

An incredible resource on FAS, from a family's perspective
This book tells the story of a girl who suffers from FAS, and her journey with her adoptive parents towards education and independence. One of the best handbooks I've read on the subject; short, but packed with information, thorough lists of resources, homeschool supplies that worked, etc., and, most valuable of all, a family's perspective on the trials and successes of dealing with this syndrome. Liz, the daughter, was adopted soon after birth, and couldn't stand being touched until nearly her 10th year. Her parents homeschooled her from fourth grade on, after finding that the schools couldn't really give their daughter the help she needed. There are segments written by Liz throughout the book, written in her own hand, about her struggles, difficulties, and successes. This book is hard to find in libraries, but it is, in its own way, as important and valuable as Streissguth's books, and far more immediate and touching. Read this!!

The Bible of Bee Venom Therapy : Bee venom, its nature, and its effect on arthritic and rheumatoid conditions.

The Bible of Bee Venom Therapy - Still the best!
I've really enjoyed reading this book. I think it's still the best in apitherapy. If you want to know what is this all about, read it...And bee happy!

The best book on the subject now back in print
As a physician who utilizes bee venom therapy with great success for arthritis, asthma, sarcoidosis (one of the most valuable and unknown uses of BVT), and many acute and chronic inflammatory conditions I have been searching for this book for several years. Almost everyone I know in the field spoke about it and its author, Bodog Beck, MD, the modern father of bee venom therapy, yet very few people actually had a copy. Some had actually xeroxed the entire book in order to have it. Now, finally, Health Resources Press, which also publishes Dr. Beck's other famous book on the medicinal and therapeutic uses of honey (ie. the use of honey in the prevention and cure of disease),Honey and your health, has not only reprinted the entire book on excellent paper, beautiful, clear type, and slightly larger than the original but also added a lengthy foreword ( which I wrote for them sharing my years of experience as well and updating Dr. Beck's material). This book will provide you with everything you need to understand the subject and is, without a doubt, the most comprehensive book on the subject.

The arthritis doctors and medical establishment have no interest in BVT since they can't patent and make money off a natural substance. In addition, BVT has actually eliminated these conditions in many patients, according to the authors. Would a drug company that keeps patients on arthritis medicine their whole lives like that? But, as Dr. Beck, a well known doctor of internal medicine who practiced in New York City years ago and had thousands of happy patients who were treated with BVT and many other practitioners can atest, bee venom therapy (BVT) works! After you have read and digested this volume you may wish to try Bee Venom Therapy by Joseph Broadman,MD also by the same publisher. In a more anecdotal style Dr. Broadman describes his experiences with hundreds of patients. Both books and the new forewords that accompany these new editions will get you on the road to understanding this valuable and overlooked t! herapy!Incidentally, you don't need a doctor to administer the treatments, according to Dr. Beck. The details for administration are to be found in the Beck book. The Broadman book emphasizes administration with a syringe while the Beck book covers both the use of live bee stings and injectable venom. I find them both very helpful in my practice.

BRAVO!
I am glad that Clifford has published this book and others. I know Clifford and some of the hard work he has put into birth order, as I have counseled with him. After reading this book and others of his, and counseling with him, it sure has made my life a lot easier, first by understanding myself, and then buy being able to understand why others act and react as they do. And being able to interact with people on a more personal level has made many relatonships stronger. Thank you Clifford!

A revolutionary new approach!
Psychotherapist Cliff Isaacson truly has the answers to people's problems. He's developed a revolutionary new approach to understanding personality. I am amazed at how much I use his insights with family, friends, and even business associates--his techniques really work!

Forget everything you might have heard about birth order. Cliff's new theories are the best I've ever seen--and I am a psych major--because they really work! He's mind is like an x-ray machine that can see to your very core. No more weeks or years of therapy or analysis to solve problems!

His work is truly groundbreaking--it will change marriages, families, friendships, businesses--maybe even the world!

All my friends are fascinated with this practical, useful material. You will be, too!

Step by Step
Some of the techniques described are for outside of the darkroom, a definite plus if you're just starting out and don't have one set up. This book is like a cookbook, full of recipes for different photography techniques. Easy to read and understand and the price is right.

More than your regular photography how-to book
This book is great for a beginning photographer or a professional artist who wants to get beyond traditional photography. Some of the techniques outlined in this book, such as magazine transfers, are accessible to people without darkrooms or cameras because you use magazine pages to create images. After reading this book, I began looking at photographic materials more creatively.

The Carver Effect is a Mystifying Tale!
I am from the Northwoods so of course this book immediately caught my attention! The Carver Effect tells the story of a man entranced by the Summerwind Mansion once owned by Robert Lamont who was Secretary of Commerce under Hoover. The Carver Effect is a book for people who love spooky stories! I have spoken to relatives of the author and have seen pictures and visited the sight! It is a mysterious, enchanting place. I highly recommend!!

The Carver Effect

Multifaceted and Comprehensive
This edited book is an excellent addition to any collection of works concerning cities in the electronic age. Each chapter covers topics that provide insight and new ways of examining our ever changing urban environment. The references cited also provide a springboard for further readings on each topic.

This book is excellent reading for both the layperson and the academician.

Cities in the Telecom Age: The Fracturing of Geographies
I have not finished this book quite yet but felt it deserved a quick note to give everyone a "head-up"! If you read any one book today for an insight into where technology is taking us - THIS IS THE ONE! It ties the internet and telecom together and explains in very studied ways where we were 10 or 15 years ago, where we are today, and where we are headed. Technology changes daily, so this book may become somewhat dated quickly, but it will be easy to update.

A Citizen's Guide to Ecology

Ecology for grown-ups
Standing alongside Stephen Hawking, the world of ecology is discussed for adults by not only a master ecologist but also a master storyteller. I was swept away by his ability to looke with 3 pair of eyes at almost any ecological encounter--entertained by his irreverence towards would-be pundits--and truly enlightened by his thoughtful, profound wisdom. This is a book I will cherish and give as a gift to anyone who I believe has earned it--Earned it by being thoughtful and wanting a little bit of their universe unfolded for them by a master teacher.

Citizen's Guide to Ecology
If you want to learn about the science of ecology .... here's the book to read.. It it is scholarly, without being didactic --- entertaining, without being trivial.

The author seems to come right out of the pages and invite the reader into his thoughts. You'll find yourself immersed in the subject, and talking back with questions, which seem to answer themselves as you go on to subsquent pages.

I didn't become an expert in the subject by reading this book, but I certainly did gain a greater respect for it, as well as for the author. Read it!!
