Do not buy this one!
This book was the biggest disappointment! The translations were terrible and you would do better to buy a good English/Spanish Dictionary.

A disaster!
The translations of English terms into Spanish in this book are a disaster. Condition precedent is translated as "condición precedente," but it's actually called "condición suspensiva" in Spanish. Buydown is unhelpfully "translated" as "descuento de intereses buydown." The translation of "alienation" is misspelled: enajención [sic]. Party wall, which is muro medianero in Spanish, is mistranslated as "muro divisorio." Statute of frauds, which is el requisito de hacer constar un acto jurídico por escrito, is mistranslated as "estatuto sobre fraudes," which means "bylaws about fraud." Similarly, statutory lien, which should be "gravamen legal," is translated as "gravamen estatutario," which means "lien mandated by the bylaws." In short, you'd be better off not even looking at this book.

Good resource!
This is a very helpful resource in the field, but I didn't find it to be as beneficial as another source. Students who bought this dictionary complained of the high cost for low gain.

The content itself is excellent, though I couldn't always find the terms I sought. The bilingual explanations are helpful.

Buy this book at the used price and the other one and you will have most of the words you need.

Save More So You Can Spend More: Hundreds of Tips to Save Thousands of Dollars

I'm doing something right.
I know I'm doing something right to save money when I felt good about borrowing this book instead of wasting a single penny on it. It should be titled "A Simpleton's Guide to Spending Less".

Save even more by NOT buying this book
If you are looking for money-saving advice beyond what any middle class mother already knows then don't bother with this book. You would have to be very profligate in your ways to really get any benefit from the ultra common sense advice Ms. Anahid offers. The book is easy to read and understand. The book is well organized by topic like Travel, Shopping, Automobile, etc. Each chapter is made up of short topics like "Shop around for dry cleaning prices" or "Wash your own car" followed by a short paragraph of supporting text but there is really no meaty "how to" info here; not that there needs to be with such simple ideas. The book is shamefully overpriced for what it offers but if you really don't have a clue on how to stretch a dollar then this book might be worth it. I say save your money and just ask your mom or grandma for ideas on how to save a buck.

It's amazing how easy it is to get a PhD in Economics...
well, this must be the case considering how terrible this guide is. Even though the authors claim to have PhDs, they have no clue about even introductory micro or macroeconomics. Their questions must be in some sort of secret code because I can't understand them! Their answer explanations are often wrong and the book is covered with mistakes and errors. If you get utterly frustrated doing their tests, don't worry - the actual test is nothing like it. Just throw this book into the garbage where it belongs and use ETS's preparatory test guide and the textbooks you used in college to review.

outdated and badly edited
i found many mistakes in this book, including errors in formulas in the preparation chapters and miscalculations in the actual answers, not to mention numerous typos. the historical questions were written in the late 80's and haven't been updated since. and the tests overall are much easier than the real thing, so be careful. unfortunately, there isn't a great variety of econ gre books in the market, but if you can find another one, i'd try that before buying this outdated, badly edited book. NOT A GOOD PREPARATION FOR THE GRE ECONOMICS TEST
There are errors in this book, and the focus is off. The writers don't seem to have a good understanding of the GRE economics test, or the desire to find out. I think this book is sold simply by virtue of its title and the absence of any other test guide on the market. The best preparation is to use a good summary of the relevant economics concepts (which I had to prepare myself since I couldn't find any other GRE economics guidebook) and to practise on the actual test that ETS has put out. This approach served me well. Feel free to e-mail me at radagrawal@hotmail.com if you have any further questions.

The Frugal Almanac

A ripoff
The ideas in this book are SO basic that it's obvious that the Moore's are more interested in making money off the unsuspecting public, than trying to help people get out and stay out of debt. Avoid this book.

NOt that helpful or original
And I payed money for it! That wasn't very frugal! I'm afraid the solutions offered in this book weren't much more than what most people can think of by themselves.

Save money by NOT buying this book
I found this book misleading, at best. The ideas in it are simply common sense -- anyone who has even played with the idea of embracing a more simple, frugal way of life already knows this stuff.

Terrible!!!! Don't waste your $$$$
I bought the book in preparation for a collegiate stats class. The content wasn't neither accurate enough, complete enough, or well written enough to be of any benefit.

It is almost impossible for me to put into words how awful this book was. How can you learn statistics when the examples are wrong? You spend hours pondering the equations, only to realize they are errors from the author.

The author should either stick to topics they know, or stop churning these books out so fast that the quality resembles rotten eggs.

This was a rare book that inspired enough anger to write such a disparaging review.

Too many Errors
In preparation for business school I thought I'd brush up on my stats. But this book is making things even more confusing because of all the errors. Graphs are misplaced, calculations are off, and equations are wrong in way too many places. I wonder how this was ever published with so many mistakes.

The Scholarship Book 2001: The Complete Guide to Private-Sector Scholarships, Fellowships, Grants and Loans for the Undergraduate
Published in Hardcover by Prentice Hall Trade (July, 2000)
Author: Daniel J. Cassidy
Amazon base price: $48.00
Used price: $3.10

Average review score:

UGGGH!
Skip this dog. Cassidy has about 150 scholarships organized over and over again in different categories (like engineering, nursing, earth science, general, etc.). The index is a good idea because it breaks down scholarships by category BUT if a scholarship is good for engineering and nursing it is listed twice in the engineering index and twice in the nursing index; so you end up seeing the same scholarship over and over. Also, it says it has a searchable CD-ROM - guess what, it is a pdf copy of the book and you are the search engine - the book is faster for the little bit it offers. College board or Fastweb are much better - they are also online and free if you don't need the book. Fast web gives you email updates of new scholarships after you register.

Skip this one
This book has lots of scholarship & award information but it wasn't useful. It did not give enough information. I needed to consult other sources. Also, the book was faster to use than the CD. Skip this one, I didn't find it helpful at all.

5 Elements of Instructional Design
Save your money on this one... I was very disappointed and had to laugh at my own disapppointment. This publication is 12 pages total and that includes the cover. The so-called spiral is one that can be had at Kinko's, and the "book" is nothing more than a collection of handouts much like one would receive at a workshop. I expected some depth and measure of explanation of Instructional Design. This fell far short of my expectations. Shame on the publisher for putting out such a ruse! I'm giving it one star because I have to give it something. It really doesn't even deserve a star...

Suitable for librarians
This is a "do this" book for librarians only. I do not recon it as a scientific work, it might suit for librarians who wants to introduce some news into their work, but they might be better off spending their time on just doing it.

Total Disgrace
This book is an absolute disgrace. It is poorly written and lacks any sort of depth. As of spring 2002, it is also comically dated. Don't waste your time or money on this garbage.

Plenty of Breadth; No Depth
This author of this book is the perfect example of someone who is a "jack of all trades...master of none." What do I mean? One only has to look at the table of contents to begin to understand how any individual could possibly offer much authoritative info on everything from "Saving on Clothes Purchases" (men, you're out of luck, this chapeter primarily references women's clothing) to "Savvy Personal Investments" (all 4 pages). At best, this book offers a combination of basic common sense advice that the average adult probably already knows, and a large breadth of categories that may--or in may case may not--hit home. Apparently Prentis Hall published this manuscript on the merits of the author's credentials alone, rather than on it's quality.
