Great Professional Responsibility and Situational Questions
I hesitated when purchasing this pocket book because of the price; however, it is worth the $$. The questions are complex. Complex in that you are often asked to pick the BEST answer, so they are designed to really make you evaluate your pick. The book is divided out into the nine knowledge areas. The answers are in the back of the book with the explanations. Each answer also has a supporting reference and a page number via the coordinating PMP Exam Prep, version 3. I think this is a great little study guide. A PMP studier in Georgia.

Real insight to situational questions
This is a handy pocket guide, contains situational questions covering all PMI process areas, with answers explained for clear understanding. This really helped in properly approcahing the PMP exam questions.

realistic, easy to understand, interesting!
Teaching kids about money is a challenge Joline Godfrey tackles beautifully. Do we share our budgets with them or shield them from the harsh reality of adult life? How much is too much - allowance, birthday money, "fun" money? Can we keep our kids from ammassing unmanageable credit card debt when they get older? Joline Godfrey offers practical advice that is reasonable and accessible for people of average, above average and below average means alike. Let's teach our kids more effectively than we were taught!

Share the Wealth!
How exciting to see the lessons of financial responsibility presented in a family friendly manner! The icing on the cake is the attention to sharing financial resources and taking seriously the welfare of those outside your immeidate family. In a time when kids, and adults, are attracted by How To Be A Millionaire or Homes of the Rich and Famous, the message that financial know how can be used for more than our own personal gain is sorely needed. This book would be good not only for families, but in classrooms and club settings. Well done!

Get Past Your Own Money Paralysis
If you're like me and millions of other parents, aunts, uncles, etc. you don't feel equipped to teach the kids in your life about money because of your own issues. Raising Financially Fit Kids helped me get beyond my money paralysis by encouraging me to realize that it's important to start somewhere, even if it's just with baby steps. The author, Joline Godfrey, reminds us that money is a tool, not an end into itself, to be used to impart the type of values we hope our children will develop during their financial apprenticeship. The content is first rate and the design easy to navigate. I highly recommend it.

Gives the reader real innovation techniques to use
Innovation is an overwrought, overused word/topic with many books written about it. You are reading this review because you are seeking thinking tools and techniques to apply to your version of Innovation, whether for an organization, community, or to be used personally. This book provides you, the reader/user, with an excellent and sensible framework to define, understand, develop, and implement processes that empower and support environments where "innovation" can happen (you still need to do the work). Dundon defines innovation as "the profitable implementation of strategic creativity." Whether your "profit" is quantified in money or good will, this book gently instructs you in the finer arts of achieving real innovative results by taking a holistic 3 innovation-dimension views on your challenges. I have purchased 20 copies of this book and given them to professional colleagues, the book is that rewarding. Innovation is not creativity, which is a very common misperception. More information can be found at www dot seedsofinnovation dot com I higly recommend this book as one of the most important books in its field ever written.

Relevant, Practical, Good Tool
Innovate or stagnate. Or, put another way, innovate or stand helplessly and watch your competitors eat your lunch! Wise leaders stimulate, encourage, reinforce, and reward innovation. If you're not doing this in your organization, now is the time to start...and this book will show you the path.

The book is organized into three parts: The Seeds of Creative Thinking, The Seeds of Strategic Thinking, and The Seeds of Transformational Thinking. Dundon, a consultant and speaker on innovation, takes us out of the proverbial box. The process starts with an introductory chapter that delivers an introduction to innovation management. In this presentation, the author sets the stage nicely for the value of the balance of the book.

Each aspect of thinking is essential to making a difference in an organization. Dundon explains the what, the why, the how, and provides examples in a very instructive text. Each chapter addresses skills and strategies to generate creativity, a strategic approach (big picture and visionary), and practical how-to ideas to support innovation in organizational settings. Reading the chapters alone is worthwhile, but we're not done yet. Following the eleven chapters are five appendices, a recommended reading list, and an index.

The appendices provide an explanation of the nine step innovation process, a list of probing questions to energize innovative thinking, 99 innovations and 99 trends. Readers will find it valuable to go through the list of trends and consider their influence on how their organization does business...and will do business in the future. As a futurist by profession, I can vouch for this being a comprehensive and highly usable list. The additional criteria section, while not too long, offers even more thought-provoking insights to check your work, stimulate more discussion, and refine the product of your synergistic thinking.

Readers will find this book valuable as a cover-to-cover read, but then highly effective as a tool to achieve significant results.

Timely and well written - Dundon reveals real insight
The Seeds of Innovation: Cultivating the Synergy that Fosters New Ideas comes at a critical time in the quest for new ideas and breakthrough efficiencies by corporations, small businesses, universities and governments.

It is a tour de force of how to inspire and manage innovation. And this is the great value of Elaine Dundon's work -- she presents "how" to inspire and manage innovation based on real experience and valuable research. I highly recommend this book.

Shattering the Two-Income Income Myth: Daily Secrets for Living Well on One Income

Par Excellence
Two words sum this book up .. Par Excellence . I got Andy Dappen's book from the library and hated to part with it when its renewal limit was reached . I would strongly recommend this book for newly weds , single income families and people who are knee deep in debt and want to get out of the money trap.

When will this book come into print again ???

This guy is crazy! I love it!
This guy is a frugal maniac and proud of it. Some of his ideas are really batty, but most make a lot of good sense. I read an excerpt in Reader's Digest and then got his book from the library. Don't let his crazy ideas like using old bread as a frisbee distract you from his main concept that you can be happy with less, and even have fun trying to find ways to save. I would think Mr. Dappen would prefer you don't spend your money on this book though. Check the book out of the library instead!

Perfect book for families switching to one income living.
Andy Dappen's book, "Shattering the Two Income Myth," critically examines the idea that two incomes are a requirement for family life in the modern world. He draws some interesting conclusions. Dappen refers to a U.S. Labor Department study that has shown the average dual-career family loses up to two-thirds of its second paycheck to work-related expenses, and if children needing daycare or after school supervision are in the picture, the percentage of work-related expenses is even higher. To truthfully calculate the earnings from a family's second set of wages, they would need to subtract all work-related expenses from their income. Dappen asserts that many second income-earners are "spending big bucks for the privilege of joining the nine-to-five parade."

Dappen also takes the view that one of the main reasons people feel unable to live on a single income is due to inflated expectations of what a family truly "needs" to live well. He calls it "our love affair with consumerism." Trophy houses, sport utitlity vehicles, new mini vans, designer clothes, big screen TV's and $100 running shoes are just some of the so-called "needs" many parents are working to supply for their families.

Dappen encourages a change of attitude---a refocusing to a mindset that embraces contentedness and fullfillment rather than following after consumer-driven forces. Dappen says, "Making your life happier, more directed, and less stressful distills down to the acceptance of five simple words: You can't have it all."

"Shattering the Two Income Myth" would be an ideal book for any family contemplating the change from two incomes to a single income situation. The book offers practical suggestions for preparing for, and actually making the switch to, living on one income. There are also numerous personal inventory questions to help with the decision making process.

Got Kids? Get this Book!
I bought this book in Albuquerque after I heard the author speak at a conference. My only regret is that I didn't have it 10 years ago--it's terrific, covers an incredible variety of issues. I really appreciated the section on how to talk to my kids about money.

2001 CIPA Award Winner
Smart Money Moves for Kids won first place for Parenting and Self-Improvement from CIPA--the Colorado Independent Publishers Association.

The Perfect Money Primer for Parenting
I heard the author speak at a conference in CA--everything she said was highly practical and useable in today's parenting demands. I wish I had had it when I was raising my own kids. I bought the book for my daughter.

My new favorite book
I LOVE this book. It's full of great tips on just about anything you can imagine, and not all of them are about saving money. Moms will appreciate the food section because it has a ton of great tips on increasing the shelf life of dairy and produce items. I have been watching my money and my grocery bills for awhile, and I've read quite a few books on the subject, and most of these tips were new to me. If you are a more experienced tightwad and find that most money-saving books don't have much to offer you anymore, this book may just be something new.

So easy to read and find what you are looking for
A Great book!!! You can't believe how many solutions to your problems in every day life can be solved . I myself had a a reason to use one of Mary's answers to a problem. I had put 2 sets of old panty hose in my car repair kit . When my fan belt broke I was able to make a temporary fix with the pantyhose. I have to say again what a great book!!!

Wonderful book! Will pay for itself in a week!
All sorts of tips, the ones about vinegar are really useful to me. Loved it, and would recommend it to anyone wanting to do things simply.

How do I live without Anselmo? I want to know...
I don't know how much longer I can make it. The sand in my internship hourglass is quickly running out. I make my copies and open the mail now with an anxious eye on the clock, knowing that only a few precious days separate me from the comfortable world of the internship and the prospect of trying to get a real job. With that blasted internship interview, I had Anselmo. Without him, I don't know where this cruel process will take me. My days have lengthened into long, dark periods of listless wandering. I arrive home from my internship, and stare at the peach hued walls of my ugly eighties themed apartment, and wonder, "where in God's name is Anselmo when you need him?". If it has been a good day, and I have been able to muster enough petty cash to buy a small bottle of Karkov Vodka, I am usually able to drive the terrible thought of facing life after internships without Anselmo in three or six quick, putrid shots. But on normal days, those very numerous, substance

free normal days, I stare at the television, muttering...hoping that his wise but kind face will appear. Hours of syndicated garbage later...I fall asleep, disappointed, dejected, and unwilling to face the morning. Where have you gone Frank Anselmo? Interns turn their lonely eyes to you..whoo, whoo, whoo. God Bless you please Mr. Internship, Frank Anselmo's left and gone away, hey, hey, hey.. So, like General Zod in the sequal to an American classic, I demand to see Superman! I must enter the real world and I demand guidance, and I want it from the man who brought me so much success in the realm of the internship. Nothing else, nothing less, will do. The last time around, I had chapters like "So...You're a Philistine", "Places To Live In NYC if Mummy Won't Pay", and "Dealing with Blasted Lunches: An Intern's Guide to Gastronomy". You remember the magic? I do, and I want more of what Anselmo's cooking. So dust off your keyboard King of Internship Kings, give another Bible, Lord of Entry-Level Lords. We need you. I...need you.

This blasted book....changed my life
Finding an internship can be strenuous, but not with John Anselmi's easy-to-use guide. Anselmi's style is efficient and beautiful. His insight, top-notch. If John Anselmi were here right now, I would like to play a little jazz trumpet for Anselmi. He is the best, the best, the best. In fact, his thoughts are so original, so intriguing, I would like to subscribe to his newsletter. Thank you, undefeated, undisputed, King of internships!

Blagev is bad!
I thought the book was absolutely wonderful, but I must comment on the writing style of the previous review, Denitza Blagev. I think her writing is awful, but her terrible writing (especially the creative stuff), only serves as a contradistinction from the brilliant writing in the internship book.

Maybe Ms. Blagev should try a writing internship. Then her writing might be more pallitable.

Excellent Book!
I borrowed this book from the library and felt lost when I had to give it back. So I want to get one for myself to keep and use whenever I need to reference back to it. Great ideas that we will definitely be using around here.

Good practical advise for teaching life skills to kids
I am already utilizing several ideas from this book and I haven't finished reading it yet! The concept of teaching practical life skills to one's children to develop their self-confidence as well as helpfulness is great. My children are responding very well to new habit formation. They are also looking forward to getting their own recipe book with foods they can make themselves without Mom hanging around.

Well worth reading...and rereading periodically.
This is a great book. I've been hording my neighbor's dog-eared copy for a few years now. Every time I look at it, I find something other tool to try. I've finally decided that it is time to buy my own copy and let my neighbor lend hers to someone else who could use it.

Train at Home to Work at Home : How to Get Certified, Earn a Degree, or Take a Class From Home to Begin a Work-at-Home Career

Author: Michelle McGarry

Average review score:

A Great Resource Book
In "Train at Home to Work at Home" author Michelle McGarry lists 27 occupations that can be done working out of your home. Each occupation is first described in order to give you some sense of what the occupation entails. After the description is a section with an extensive list of programs that offer distance training. Within that section the programs are described, complete contact information provided, and the details of the program are given (including costs). This section is followed by one that provides more information including suggested books, organizations, and web sites.

This book provides information on different work-at-home occupations. It does not provide information on how to perform those occupations nor does it pretend to provide any training. It is a resource book that points the reader to some of the better work-at-home ideas and how to get the training you will need in order to be successful at the venture.

Offers a wealth of practical advice
Train At Home To Work At Home: How To Get Certified, Earn A Degree, Or Take A Class From Home To begin A Work-At-Home Career by Michelle McGarry is an invaluable and "user friendly" guide to readying oneself for home-based employment. Individual chapters directly address how to become job certified, earn a college degree, take specific job-oriented classes from home, and offers a wealth of practical advice for pursuing a number of home-based careers such as childbirth educator, financial planner, graphic designer, information broker, paralegal service, web site designer/webmaster, wedding planner, and more. A superb overview and resource for anyone with responsibilities that keep them at home yet seek a productive earning career, Train At Home To Work At Home is a unique and highly recommended addition to personal, professional, and community library Jobs/Careers reference and resource collection collections.

A Where To Look For Book Pertaining to Home Study
If you are looking to save a great deal of time and effort researching educational institutions and organizations offering distance learning programs and courses pertaining to twenty seven different work-at-home enterprises, Michelle McGarry's insider's guide book, Train at Home To Work At Home: How to Get Certified, Earn a Degree, or Take a Class From Home to Begin a Work-at-Home Career, will prove to be a godsend.
However, it should be noted, this is not a how-to but rather a where-to-look book.

McGarry's main focus is to provide information about training and education for home careers.
As for the pros and cons of home businesses, and the how-to in setting them up, the author refers her readers to her section entitled "Michelle's Bookshelf and Bookmarks."

The arrangement of the listing of occupations and businesses are in alphabetical order, covering such occupations as: bed and breakfast owners, bookkeeping services, catering services, childbirth educators, child day care providers, desktop publishers, editorial services, graphic designers, financial planners, home inspectors, image consultants, indexers, information brokers, medical billing and coding, and many more.

Learning institutions offering programs pertaining to the various careers are listed with their addresses, phone numbers, web sites and email addresses.
This is followed by an indication of the courses offered, the types of certifications or degrees attainable, costs, number of credits required for completion, if there is email support, what learning materials are included, information concerning exams, delivery methods, and other pertinent data.

For example, if you were interested in becoming a paralegal, we are informed that the University of California, Los Angles, is one institution that you may want to consider.
This university offers two certificates with different concentrations: an Attorney Assistant, Litigation Option certificate and an Attorney Assistant, Corporate Option certificate. The cost of the program is $3, 750.00. On the other hand, you may wish to follow the program offered by Ashworth College in Norcross, Georgia, which approaches the course in a different manner.

One caveat, as the author mentions, "verify that what you're learning is satisfactory to the industry standards. Check with national associations if this program will satisfy their certification requirements. Ask industry leaders if you need a Bachelor degree, or if a certificate will suffice. Do you need in-office experience in this field before breaking out on your own?"

At the end of each career segment the author provides references to various books as well as E-books, organizations, and web sites, where the reader may further his or her knowledge concerning a particular occupation.

One of the drawbacks of books of this nature is that some of the information provided becomes quickly obsolete.
In order to deal with this problem, the author offers a free e-mail newsletter that will update readers on new programs, old programs no longer available, new tuition rates, new phone numbers and other pertinent information.

Replete with a great deal of information reflecting the author's many hours of meticulous research, this book will prove to be invaluable to anyone contemplating working from home, or wishing to improve their skills.
As an added bonus, the author provides an eleven- page bibliography, as well as a listing of recommended web sites. ...

A great book for kids and adults alike!
This is one of the easiest to read and understadn investment books I've ever found. Teaching children the value of long-term investment and money is a wonderful gift to give anyone. Adults will find the clear explanations, sound advice, and tips on getting started no matter how much you have to be valuable as well.

This and Jason Kelly's "Neatest Little Guide..." series are my favorite introductory investment books.

Wow The Dow! The Complete Guide To Teaching Your Kids How to
This is the type of book I wish I had when I first became interested in investing. It is so elementary that I can actually understand what the stock market is all about, and how I personally can benefit from getting myself educated about investing. What's more my teenage daughter is learning about investing and investment clubs and students from her class are getting together weekly to talk about the stock market, using this book as a guide. This is a wonderful book to introduce kids and teenagers to investing.

extremely informative
I found this book to be extremely helpful in decoding a very intimidating topic. The forum in which the book was layed out made for an easy and exciting read. I finally feel comfortable and adept to invest, in addition to having various resources for doing research.
