A Must Have!
"A Woman's Guide to Family Finances" is a "must have" for any serious home library. Only Ellie Kay can strike to the heart of family finances with such humor and insight. This book is not just for the women in your life, but the men as well! How can such a young woman have such financial wisdom? This is truely a five-star, must have!

This Book is Not Just For Women!!!!
I was given this book as a gift. After reading the title "A Woman's Guide to Family Finances" I figured my friend made a mistake and meant it for my wife.

But as I browsed the pages I dicovered something I had never thought about before. I'M THE WOMAN OF THE HOUSE!!! I keep the budget, the checkbook. I pay the bills and do the shopping. I always have my eagle eye out for that amazing deal to swoop down and grab before it's gone.

The financial advice here is sound, practical, and extremely useful. There is a spiritual component here too, but it is not so overwhelming as to deter someone not-so-inclined from pursuing and benefitting from Ms. Kaye's tips.

Even though I got this one free, I expect to save 40 to 50 times the book's retail price this year alone by following the bread crumbed path of Ellie Kaye's frugal wisdom.

Strongly commended and highly recommended reading
Ably written by magazine columnist and international speaker Ellie Kay (best known for her regular guest appearances on CNBC's "Power Lunch"), A Woman's Guide To Family Finances is a no-nonsense guide to keeping the family out of debt, ready to weather financial setbacks, and with an eye always vigilant toward future financially relevant plans. Do's and Don'ts of spending; various investments; saving; and planning simplify the complex task of managing money while minimizing risk (especially in today's unpredictable and volatile era), A Woman's Guide To Family Finances is strongly commended and highly recommended reading.

The Author Knows His Stuff
Great Book!!! It was extremely readable, very insightful and practical. It is obvious the author has real world experience. By using examples and events in his own career, he brings to light the tactical aspects of demonstrating and selling software. An absolute must read for anyone in the business, especially those of us in Sales. I bought copies for everyone on my staff.

A Pre Sales Consultant Bible!
While there are other books and systems that teach how to present, Demo2Win gets down to the marrow of how to put on a consistent and well ordered software demo that gets the business!
Anyone who is honest with the person in the mirror will see some of their own "demo crimes" when reading this book. Account Executives who read it will come away with a whole new respect of the hurdles faced by the Pre Sales Consultant during a demo.
This book should be read by each new Pre Sales Consultant on their first day!

Your demos are the best, but they can be better
I found the way to do it much better. This book is really useful for my job: it helps me identify my own errors and to prepare my meetings with prospects much properly, not just "showing" but "solving". Read it !!

Sucess!!
I am so very fortunate to have been able to get my hands on this book while I am in my JR year at the University of Delaware. Had I not read this book, I would not have had my eyes opened to all the wonderful opportunities out there. Michael Simmons's Student Success Manifesto is a must read book, especially if you want to make the best of a bad situation, such as wanting to come out the rat race and becoming a successful entrepreneur. I recommend this book to everyone who is the slight bit interested in starting a successful business. Michael will open your eyes and change your life, he did mine. I wouldn't be surprised if this book was an Amazon best seller by the end of next month. Thank You Michael!!

Great Book!
This book is a great start for young entrepreneurs not only because it promotes the "extreme entrepreneurship" mindset but also because it provides the readers with tips on how to to make the best out of all the resources available and how to improve relationships with others including friends and family members. I strongly recommend this book, you will enjoy it.

Dynamic, Hilarious, Revolutionary
This book leaves nothing unchallenged. Barbara does NOT take No for an answer. She probes and questions till businesses are worn down and give her what she wants. She's not intimidated by their usual tactics -- "It's not company policy," "No one has ever asked before--" yadda, yadda. She's daring and audacious and shows us how we can ask too, without changing or going through a special program. Just by reading the book, you get empowered and start Asking, not being cowed and intimidated. The bullets on the cover don't do the book justice. It's a lot more than getting deals, but an empowerment and a way to not feel helpless in the marketplace. Plus, the book is such fun and easy to read.

Non-stop - Couldn't put the book down!
This book was one of those ones that you just don't put down because you are so eager to see what happens next. I hate getting taken advantage of by retail sellers and service providers, so this book helped me understand their MOs and figure out how to get help from them to get satisfaction. Can't go wrong here - I'm loading up for Christmas presents.

A Riot to Read and Money Saving
I enjoyed this book so much. Barbara has a great sense of humor and you can't put the book down. What will she do next! It's helped me in many situations with businesses and made asking painless.

For students and for parents, too
This book is a great gift for a parent to buy for their child when he or she is either considering going to or is in business school, because it sets out important practical information about how to approach goals, decisions and processes. In this world, most of us are going to be happy to have a possible leg up on success, and this book appears to be a big help in that direction. Naturally, if the parent is like many of us, he or she will want to read the book first to get the lowdown, too!

Must Read
I am a thorough researcher and have now broused or completely read tens of books on b-school, in an effort to really understand how to make business school the most valuable experience possible. This one is the best. It is clear that the authors have unparalleled perpective, understanding and ability to communicate the most important aspects of the whole process.

A MUST READ - A True Benefit For Those Entertaining B School
I have recommended this book to everyone I know who is either entertaining or enrolled in business school. As a former B-School Student, I can honestly tell you that this is a book with tremendous value. The CEO reviews are very useful, and I love the way this book takes real insight from real students who have been there before. The material is current, honest, and useful. I can think of no better resource than this book if you are thinking about applying to business school or are currently enrolled in business school. These authors have done a FANTASTIC job and Business School Confidential will undoubtedly be an important/value added supplement to your b-school experience. Every business school should make this a MANDATORY summer read for their incoming students. Three words "BUY IT NOW!"

It Will Pay For Itself
Get Clark Smart is a great consumer reference book that will pay for itself in a short time by helping you make wise purchase decisions. Before signing any contracts or buying any major items you should check with Clark Howard, and his book makes that easy to do. This book would also make a great gift for newlyweds, children, or practically anyone.

I wish I had read this book when I was 22
... I could have saved myself a lot of money in the past 10 years. I highly recommend this book as a gift to those young men and women in your life who are just starting out, newlyweds, new parents--anyone who could use a quick course in savvy consumer education. I enjoy Clark's radio show, and his easy, friendly style translates very well into print. Clark, this was worth every penny!

Information every consumer should be armed with.
This book is awesome. It should be required reading for consumers prior to considering autos, homes, investing, insurance, warranties, long distance, cell phones, travel and many other topics. This is the kind of information a parent would want their child to be armed with before leaving home and learning the hard way. I feel like I owe the author more money because the price of the book was so low compared to the thousands of dollars I will save in the upcoming years. Would make a great gift for any friend and especially someone who struggles with finances.

Big Brands Big Trouble: Lessons Learned the Hard Way (Wiley Audio)

Authors: Jack Trout and Jeff Woodman

Used price: $13.54

Despite impressive triumphs over the years, leading companies like General Motors, Xerox, and Levi Strauss have also stumbled badly at times. In Big Brands, Big Trouble, Jack Trout points out their biggest missteps as well as the critical lessons that can be learned from them. In his typically no-nonsense manner, Trout--a "positioning" expert who has written numerous bestselling books on the topic and served as a consultant to several of these firms--lays out the myriad errors that caused them and other giants to lose ground in the fight for success. Helpful specifics abound, such as in the chapter on Crest, in which Trout notes how the toothpaste's one-time dominance slipped away when consumer concern over cavities gave way to worries about discoloration, bad breath, and gum disease (which other brands more effectively set themselves up to attack). The lessons Trout takes from this are threefold: even winning positions must occasionally evolve; knowledge of how leadership was initially attained must always be maintained; and competitors must never be given an angle to exploit. Likewise, the section on Burger King discusses how turnover at the top, inconsistent advertising messages, and a loss of focus on how to assault the industry leader resulted in a stagnation that has perpetually mired the chain as a fast-food also-ran. "It's a fact of life that the easiest idea to overlook is the obvious one," Trout notes in this chapter. Since most ideas are apparent only in retrospect, however, his insights should prove invaluable to readers who might easily make similar mistakes. --Howard Rothman

Deliver a clear message-Perception is the most important!
¡§Big Brands Big trouble¡¨ is a very interesting and comprehensive book. This book explains several types of popular mistakes with different big brand cases, how to select a board of directors and how to be a good CEO. I think this book is suitable for anyone who is interested in Marketing or Branding because you could gain a lot of insight from it. After reading this book, you will understand why some brands cannot be established well even they have spent a lot money on advertising, introducing many new products.

This book impress me the most is that Jack Trout illustrated all mistakes clearly by showing how the big brands, like Levis, Burger King, AT&T and Marks and Spencer made in the past. Then you may discover that some of the existing well-known brands are actually making mistakes for their marketing strategies. Moreover, you may get surprise that some of the popular marketing strategies, like line extension, benchmarking cannot promote your product, conversely, they will hurt your company seriously. So you must read this book if you want to surpass your competitors by using appropriate marketing strategies for your company.

Overall speaking, this book is easy to read and understand because Jack Trout delivered a concise and important message in the book ¡V ¡§Marketing is a battle of perception, not product¡¨

Packed with Knowledge!
Jack Trout, head of the marketing firm Trout & Partners, digs for details about the major reasons big brands run into trouble and just how enormous companies mess up by handling their signature standard-bearers badly. He runs down the litany: mistaken extensions of the brand name, failures to differentiate the brand's qualities and loss of clarity about just what a brand represents. His failure sagas are mini-novels based inside Xerox, General Motors, AT&T, Digital Equipment, General Mills and Coca-Cola. Remember New Coke? Now that was a branding debacle. Trout highlights corporate shortcomings and lays the blame for branding woes right at the feet of people who should have known better: of out-of-touch CEOs, ineffective consultants and dysfunctional boards. Alert consumers who like insider business war stories will enjoy this clear, lively book, but if you own a company or market a brand, we from getAbstract suspect you should read it twice.

Good Book - but its missing that little "something"
I am pretty new to the world of sales - a reluctant salesman who has realised that selling is central to success in any relationship based endeavour. What I have been searching for is a sales 'system' - a repeatable process that allows you to 'advise' the client for mutual benefit, rather than simply sell him. And Robert Jolles almost hits the mark. He gives you a sales strategy - a strategy with 8 steps in the selling process, that with a bit of practice will make the sales call more of a consultation.

But, for me, the book contradicted its title somewhat. This is particularly evident where Jolles uses the boxing metaphor for selling (he compares selling to you and your client stepping into the ring for a few rounds) and 'bleeding' your client. Now maybe I'm naive, but I think this is what is totally wrong with the sales profession - I don't think you're ever fighting your client, or should be trying to 'bleed' him or her, or make him hurt.

Now perhaps Jolles was simply trying to make the point that the client needs to be fully aware of the implications of his/her problem etc, but it was the way he says it that shows he doesn't have the customers true interests at heart. And to me,its the philosophy of the sales professional combined with sales effectiveness that is critical to building long-term, mutually benefical client relationships.

I would recommend this book to you - it teaches a sound sales process that is repeatable. But for me it missed that extra something.

Excellent Across the Board!!!
TThis book is terrific...It answered many questions I had about sales approach to b2b selling. If you are selling b2b or your product/service has a high value, you will love the tools this book will give you to succeed! It has great examples, and useful exercises to make the material 'stick'. Rob breaks everything down to minute detail, so everything is duplicatable and understandable. I hope to see an audio version sometime in the future. I love the questioning sequences detailed by Rob and his honest and ethical approach to every step in the sales cycle.

This book also teaches you how to use the selling principles in everything else in life from managing employees to bringing up children. I am already beginning to be more pursuasive with my fiance and my boss. I am loving it!!!

Robert Jolles teaches you very SOUND techniques and not hype like Tom Hopkins, Zig Ziglar or Joe Girard. I love the fact that he was a senior sales training consultant at Xerox, which is world-known for its investment in sales research and its training methodologies.

Takes selling to the next level
Clearly defines the steps to making a sale along with the understanding of how and when a customer makes a buying decision. People don't make a large purchase decision until they have a "problem". So if you are selling large ticket items and or programs, then you better understand how to move the decision maker into the "problem" stage. I thought that the author's examples and situations outlined in the book were excellent and really drove home the points he was making. It is an easy read and thoroughly enjoyable!
