Insightful!
Author William E. Fulmer uses a biological analogy to discuss how organizations form and evolve in an environment that changes through co-evolution with other organizations. Organizations must be ready to learn, and need leaders who can help participants understand change and adapt to it. Though strategic planning can help, Fulmer emphasizes preparing for continual adaptation. His thoughtful, in-depth discussion draws on research from biologists, philosophers and various academic and business writers to create a biological model. He weaves in examples of businesses that have thrived or failed based on their ability or inability to adapt. When Fulmer veers away from his biological analogy, he starts to sound much like many of the other adapt-or-die prophets out there today, but nevertheless, we [...] recommend this solid presentation of a complex subject to executives, top managers and academics.

The changing face of business strategy
While the coverage of some topics is slightly more cursory than I might consider appropriate, I have found this book useful in prompting new thinking about how we fashion strategy in the new business environment. This is an excellent book for anyone who has interests in the new understandings we are gaining in the sciences, and is wondering about how to apply the new thinking to shaping organizations, old or new. While one may question some of the corporations selected as exemplars, among the real benefits of this book is that the author steps far out onto the limb to suggest practices in current organizations that illustrate key points in the development of an organization that can thrive in the tumult of our times. I believe that this book is a must read for people interested in the evolution of business strategy.

How to live and how to work simultaneously
Noone says before die: Oh I should had been more in the office. More think: I should had spent more time with the family. This book teaches how to do your work perfectly without stealing time from your family. Enjoy it and change your life.

Simple done simply
Another in a series of books that make simplicity seem simple. Simply put simplicity is far more complex than can be stated adequately in any book. This one however has done as best as can be expected on such a simply complex subject.

A Little Disappointed
I was a little disappointed with this audio book. I am really looking to get things whipped into shape and organized, but I didn't find this very helpful. There are a lot of ideas, but they all seemed kind-of obvious and nothing really jumped out at me as a "great new idea". I thought she spent WAY too much time on explaining how to organize files, and not enough time on around the house organization ideas. I'm sure it is a good audio book, but it just wasn't what I personally was looking for.

Useful tips for getting organized at work and home
There are lots of tips on this tape. I haven't had time to try them all out, but the ones I have tried work! I feel more organized already. It's a tape you'll want to listen to more than once. It helps that Stephanie has a very pleasant voice.

A Timwe Well Spent by Laurence S. Freundlich
A TIME WELL SPENT "BY LAWRENCE S. FREUNDLICH IS THE STORY OF A GENTLEMAN WHO APPEARED T O "HAVE IT ALL" ONLY TO HAVE TRE PROVERBIAL RUG PULLED OUT FROM UNDER HIM. HIS STRENGTH OF CHARACTER, THE LOVE AND LOYALTY OF HIS WIFE MARLENE, AND HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS HELPED HIM TO RISE TO UNPRECEDENTED HEIGHTS.

THE PRIVATE LIFE OF JERRY BRODY WAS KEPT TO A VERY COMFORTABLE LEVEL WHILE LETTING THE BOOK CONCENTRATE ON THE MAN. THIS INDEED MADE FOR MUCH MORE PLEASURABLE READING. THERE IS A DELECTIBLE MIXTURE OF NEW YORK LIFE AND SOCIETY CONNECTED WITH HIS RESTAURANT SUCCESSES INCLUDING THE FOUR SEASONS, GALLAGHER'S STEAK HOUSE AND THE GRAND CENTRAL OYSTER BAR. HIS ACHIEVEMENTS CONTINUED IN THE "BLACK ANGUS" CATTLE BUSINESS WITH WINNING AWARDS FOR MANHATTAN GAL AS NATIONAL BLACK ANGUS HEIFER AND PATRIOT AS NATIONAL BLACK ANGUS BULL JERRY BRODY'S BELOVED FARM "GALLAGHER'S STUD", WAS REPSONSIBLE FOR BREEDING A MILLION DOLLAR CHAMPION RACE HORSE, ALLEZ-MILORD, ALONG WITH MANY OTHER NEW YORK BRED WINNING THOROUGHBREDS. ONCE AGAIN MR. FREUDLICH WEAVES IN ANOTHER ASPECT OF THE FASCINATING LIFE OF JERRY BRODY.

ANYONE WOULD ENJOY READING THIS STORY WHERE MANY LIVES OF THE RICH AND FAMOUS AND THE NOT SO RICH AND FAMOUS WERE TOUCHED. HIS LOYALTY NEVER WAIVERED AND HIS BRILLIANT MIND NEVER STOPPED WORKING. THERE IS A LESSON TO BE LEARNED FROM THIS BIOGRAPRY - THAT SHEER "STICKTUITIVENESS" AND FOLLOWING A LIFE'S PASSION AND DREAM MADE HIS "TIME WEELL SPENT"

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK FOR THERE IS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE IN IT.

BY BARBARA MONKMAN

A wonderful surprise
A dear friend in the restaurant business recommended this book to me, and I was a bit skeptical not being an advid reader of books devoted to restaurant themes. However, I found the book delightfully surprising.

The behind the scenes story of the hardwork and hardship required by Jerome Brody to create such legendary dining establishments as The Grand Central Oyster Bar & Grill were insipiring and honest. Freundlich brilliantly wove personal antectodes through a buiness oriented biography, although more information on certain personal subjects (such as his children) would have been appreciated. However, today it seems so many writers include intimate personal information not necessarily wanted by readers, that the lack of graphic details gave me respect for Freundlich's decision to only include bits of personal information, therefore not divulgeing confidential information about famous acquaintances and friends such as Michael Ondaatje.

Overall, the book appealed to a wide range of audiences and dealt with everyday themes such as dealing with terrible inlaws, something many of us can relate to! I've recommended it to several friends as well as my mother who seems to be enjoying the book, and I'll be sure to pass it along to others.

TOYOTA COSTER MANUAL
I am looking for toyota coster repaire manual RH 89 MODEL pleas send me to any infomation.

The nuts and bolts of how JIT works.
With all of the recent attention to "Lean Manufacturing" (Womak, The Machine That Changed The World, Lean Thinking), this book, now in its third edition, is different. Rather than telling you how to implement the Toyota Production System, Monden gives the reader a comprehensive technical description of how the entire system functions, and how the pieces work together to form the most effecient production system known.

This is not, however, a generic overview. This book covers Toyota's implementation as it applies to building their products. Nevertheless, the principles translate to every industry where things are made.

Any serious practitioner or industry leader attempting to implement or operate a lean production system needs to read, and re-read, this book.

I didn't believe it but he knows his stuff
I saw the author on CNBC, talking about how investors could spend 5 minutes reading financial statements and understand stocks like Lucent, WorldCom, Enron. This is a really good book. The examples are easy to understand, the concepts make a lot of sense. Like a lot of people, I'm not a professional investor and my stocks are taking a bath. I don't know if this book could have prevented that but I have some better ideas of what to look for now.

Short and Sweet, Gets to the Point
At first review of this book I was somewhat disappointed-the first and second chapters. The information seemed a tired carbon copy of all the other organizational, self help books on the market. It seemed like it was all common sense and elementary in nature. My goal was to get hot tips quickly without the fluff. As I read on, I found what I was looking for. Great tips on saving time by clever delegation and eliminating useless information, meetings etc. I found the tips on what I call "filtering" masses of information very helpful. This book was an easy read and the information was easily digestible. They key points are called out as captions in the book for easy reference. The amount of common sense this book regurgitates is fairly acceptable. These bits of common sense we may find irritating are probably the ones we continually forget to put into action. If you are short on time and need ideas quickly, this book is well worth the small investment.

Alien: The Strange Life and Times of Mendelson Joe

Not warm and fuzzy
Calling Mendelson Joe a curmudgeon doesn't really get to the heart of him. He's spent much of his life in perpetual outrage over what he sees as gross injustices in the world and, as one acquaintance puts it in this book, he'd even find Mahatma Gandhi's virtue wanting. Mendelson Joe is a severe critic of humanity; he's also a steadfastly honest man who speaks his mind and lives his life as close to "walking the walk while talking the talk" as he can. As editor and co-writer of this book, Nadia Halim manages to present Joe, his friends and his detractors in as fair and forthright a light as possible. Those who don't live in Canada are probably largely unfamiliar with Mendelson Joe, so suffice it to say that he'll confound your expectations and may tick you off initially. He also just might win you over to his way of thinking.

Actually change the way I work
While ALL CHANGE!/The Project Manager's Secret Handbook has a great series of steps for properly managing your projects (it takes up the reverse half of the book), Obeng's focus is on helping you get the right thinking on your project. No easy answers like in most management books, but ways to approach projects and manage them to a successful completion.

The first half, ALL CHANGE!, is actually a narrative about a project manager coming to understand why his projects always seem to go wrong.

I'd compare this to Mythical Man-Month in how much it shaped my thinking.
