Great snippets of wisdom!I've always been a big fan of John Maxwell's work and this did not disappoint. This is a great companion book. Full of great, short, positive insights it's a great source of daily inspiration and wisdom. Maxwell still reigns as the leader in understanding leadership and vision and by culling the wisdom of great leaders he once again provides an inspirational and insightful book!

Fascinating read; felt like I was reading about my company. As a dad working in corporate America, this book really pulled me in. I could relate to the issues presented about the struggles parents have trying to balance their work responsibilities and their family responsibilities. But it wasn't just a lot of anecdotes. The author provided an analysis that made sense to me, and leaves me feeling less hopeless. Initially, it made me feel more frustrated with the people I deal with every day, as I thought about how our daily lives could be better. I am a very committed worker and a very committed dad. But ultimately, this book made me think about what I'm up against, and maybe some things I could do to change it. A really good read for any parent who is dealing with feeling overworked, and trying to figure out why and what to do about it.

Customizes Itself to YouOne of the things I really appreciate about Gary Kroehnert's "Taming Time, or, How Do You Eat an Elephant?" is that you write in it. Lots. It starts on page 9, where you write down what you hope to do as a result of what you learn from his book. By answering his well-constructed, thought-provoking questions in writing, you think critically about how you manage your time--and find ways to improve. This book is not about theory and advice. Each page is geared toward the content that is most relevant to you, then applying it to your life.
Kroehnert successfully balances work and non-work time management, leading you through planning and prioritizing, using planning calendars effectively, and battling six time-wasters. (Those issues are real-world: phone calls, meetings, procrastination, delegation, office organization, and visitors.) The 50-tip summary starting on page 171 is especially helpful.
Readers should know that Kroehner's examples use the Day-Timer system. They should also know that the techniques he demonstrates using Day-Timer will transfer very well to any portable calendar system, with the possible exception of the newer personal digital assistants.
Overall, this book is well worth the investment--if you use it.

Theory of Markets: Trade and Space-Time Patterns of Price Fluctuations. a Study in Analytical Economics

A "simple" economic problemIt is often said that economics
so far has had less successes
than other sciences, such as for instance physics,
because it has to deal with problems of
greater complexity. However, it seems that economists have
made little effort to rank economic problems according
to their level of complexity.
In this book, from the
very outset, the author selects a question which may
be seen as one of the "simplest" problems in economics.
Why?
Instead of considering the question of
price determination on one market
which depends upon all the numerous factors which
affect demand and supply, the author concentrates his
attention on the RELATIVE price differences between
several (spatially separated) wheat markets.
In such a way, all the factors
affecting demand/supply are so to say brushed aside.
The book first develops a very simple model which
describes the process of spatial arbitrage, that is to say
the decision to buy on a more distant market whenever the
price on that market added to the transport cost is smaller
than the price on nearer markets.
The model is first used to compare prices on only two
markets. Even in this simple form it permits
several predictions which are matched by observation.
In subsequent chapters the model is extended to
the case of N spatially separated markets and this
discloses the existence of a pattern of
prices WAVES hidden behind more of less erratic
price fluctutations due to random exogenous shocks.
Such price waves are indeed observed provided the
data are sufficiently "fine grained" in space as
well as time.
This is an elegant solution to the fundamental
problem of understanding the interactions between
N markets trading in the same commodity.
An incredibly insightful read. Highly recommended.

Different Approach to InvestingTime In, Time Out provides historical data and cyclical information on market trends. The best buying and selling days are given for the month. Even though the author states no system is perfect, losses will be minimal compared to buy and hold. The book is well illustrated and easy to read. I believe this book will be a valuable tool when used with composite ratings and fundamentals.
