I met Dr. Park on Air Koryo leaving Pyongyang in May '97 after my 10th trip there. Reading this compilation has been a delightful continuation of that meeting. His insights to the philosophical foundation of Juche, the Kimilsungist system of political thought, are particularly useful and his no-bones-about-it discussion of the nuclear weapons program is eerily unsettling. This work is a goldmine of information in operations management.
It begins by explaining process design and operational control
mechanisms. There is an extensive section on replacing
equipment utilizing classic models; such as, Terborgh's Model.
Human factors; such as, job participation, enlargement, job
enrichment, satisfaction and performance are explained.
Classic models; such as, PERT, network design and the critical
path method are presented. Optimizing facilities locations
is presented together with case studies. There is an extensive
section on environmental implications , waste disposal and
pollution control. The work contains a chapter on exponential
smoothing and econometric forecasting covering simple linear
regression, nonlinear relationships and multivariate regression
analysis. The EOQ models and other inventory models are covered.
There is an extensive secton on quality control with examples
employing acceptance sampling and Bayesian Quality Control.
The book concludes with a section on linear programming and
mathematical programming. This book is a treasurechest of
important information on how to manage operations in almost
any environment.

I am a communication graduate student, so I've read a lot of organization communication texts and readers. I've read my Weick, my Mumby, my Deetz, my Jablin, my Putnam & my Poole. While I would never suggest that anyone ever forgo reading primary sources, who can argue that sometimes we just lack the time to read everything we would like to? That is where this book comes in.

This Eisenberg & Goodall book is not just an average review of the major concepts, themes and theories in organizational communication. It covers the concepts of org comm in more detail than most texts do. The authors also are very aware of the changes and challenges to organizations in the contemporary world, and included excellent chapters on globalization, outsourcing, etc.

Finally, Eisenberg & Goodall wrote this text interactively. It is the most dialogical of all the org comm texts I've read. This stimulates not just the memorization of fact, but deep-rooted thinking and contemplation.

If you do not know where to start when you look at the expansive landscape of organizational communication, this is THE place to start. After a thorough reflective reading of Eisenberg and Goodall, you will definately have a firm foundation to read the primary sources you want.

Rarely do you find a book that is EXACTLY what you're looking for and EXACTLY what it claims to be. This is a superb book for intermediate Russian students who want to focus their study on Politics and International Relations. I treasure this book.

This is a thoughtful,brief introduction to business ethics with a strong Catholic viewpoint(Primeaux is a Marist priest and Ph.D in Theology)balanced by Professor Stiebers rather tough minded view of the mandate of business (to stay in business, make money and produce something of worth). Real ife applications and nary a patronizing word

If you ever thought that purchasing was dull and that purchasing professionals had an equally boring task, then think again. All organisations are equal in one respect. Each one buys something, adds value to that which it has bought and then sells it on - hopefully with a profit. Most companies focus their activity on the cost of adding value and the sale of the finished product. Most focus only a small portion of their resources on what, where and how to obtain those goods on which they rely. Purchasing Power demonstrates the value of purchasing as a core business process and hands the reader the key to increased profitability.

I've like Thomas Sowell's books for a while now. I've mainly read Sowell's books from the 1990s like his race trilogy and Inside America's Education System. Race and economics was published in 1975 so itgoes back to his early career. He provides a history about the correlation between, race, ethnicity and economics have played themselves out in America. He first deals with slavery and American blacks to see how slavery affected the American economic system and compares that Latin American and Caribbean slavery. He also looks at how slavery affected American blacks differently from Latin American/Cariibean blacks. Sowell also deals with immigrant ethnic groups like Japanese, Jews, Irish, Italians and Puerto Ricans and look at their development in America and compares them to look at their different developments and cultual beleifs. TO end, Sowell also deals with race and the market and race in governmetn. He looks at how things such as rent controls and minimum wage laws have affected minority groups. He also looks at future possibiliites of race in America looking at different approaches like the conservative approach, the reform approach and militant approach.

the author, an MIT trained economist and now on the editorial board of the NYT, brilliantly illuminates upon the New deal's economic significance. okay actually i've never read it. And the author is my dad. But i'm sure it's pretty good.

It is a clear outlined book with all the features of methodology you need. The authors elaborate about each subject in an understandable way. It is a good guideline for writing (doctoral) thesis or other academic paper.
They focus mainly on qualitative research but also the quantitative part is touched upon. If you are stucked during your writing proces this book can help, it give explicite examples how to handle things.

This is a classic on introduction to ARIMA modelling. Suitable for everyone, students and professionals.
