Unlike many books on systems analysis, the Robertsons' does not confuse analysis with "design". This book focuses on developing an unambiguous system specification which both the sponsoring end users and the developers can understand.

The examples are clear and well chosen, small enough to be understood, big enough not to be trivial. This is an excellent main textbook for a course in systems analysis.

The documentation methodology is derived from the classic DeMarco "structured analysis". The book's main weakness is insufficient treatment of object-oriented concepts, especially in data definition.

This book was written well and the ideas expressed in this book happen to be easily understood from a student's point of view. The graphs and charts in the book really help to explain the concept, so that most people can understand what the authors are attempting to explain. The chapter summaries are done well b/c they go over the major points and attempt to wrap it all up.

This is a very good book grounded in solid microeconomic theory foundations. It starts with classical micro theory such as preferences and axioms, and it moves on to risky preferences and methods on how to retrieve them by constructing careful experiments. It also discusses the limitations on preference retrieval by such axiomatic methods due to the heuristics and biases that occur in decision making behaviour. However, this book is also useful for non-economists, as it describes decision making theories and applied methods on how to retrieve preferences in fields such as policy and medical sciences. The book's target market is mostly economics/ decision sciences graduate students or those who have achieved a comparable or higher level of their studies/work experience. It has also very instructive real world examples of PhD students running preference retrieval experiments and reporting their results. Good book for those keen on the subject. The 1976 version of the book has won a book prize, hence the assurance of quality. Furthermore, Raiffa is a well established Harvard academic, which further lends credence to the book.

A Yankee friend of mine once asked about the South, "But why do they torment one another so?" There are a lot of books, including novels by Faulkner and others, which try to answer just that question. One such is Deep South, written in the 1930's by 4 sociologists from Harvard (2 black, 2 white), who lived and studied Natchez, MS for 2 years. While the book contains some dry demographical statistics, it also uses anecdotes to paint an accurate and fascinating picture of the Old South and of how race and class determine social relations among poor whites, blacks, and the "planter elite". (Surely this is the kind of book people like John Grisham use for background for their own writings.) Natchez was the "cotton capital" in the 19th century and was then one of the most important cities in the South. Vital reading for anyone interested in civil rights, race relations, and issues of caste and class. Compare John Dollard's Caste and Class in a Southern Town and Hortense Powdermaker's After Freedom; also, if you're a Grisham fan and want to know what things were really like, read this book. Deb Long really knows her stuff, and she makes a strong case for a renewed sense of ethics in the real estate industry. Buy it and you'll prosper when your clients realize that you're on their side.

Miron Burgin is an european who studied in Harvard, and who wrote for his doctorate thesis this great book, "The Economic Aspects of Argentine Federalism, 1820-1852".

Truth to be told, it is not overly entertaining, but that is not its aim. Burgin's ambition was to shed come light on the importance of the economic aspects of Argentine Federalism. He writes quite fluently, and even though he gives lots of data, he somehow manages to surprise the reader, from time to time, with an appreciably good remark. He thinks that there is a noteworthy connection between the original institutional problem and the deficient economic structure of the country, and supports that belief with facts and intelligent considerations.

On the whole, a very good book, that I can recommend to those that are interested in Argentina's history.

I consider myself an average Business English writer based less on education and more on experience. This book did help me learn a lot of new concepts and how to utilize them. I still feel quite dazed with the plethora of rules and sugestions as provided in this great book.

There are two tings I like about this book:
1- It is small and concise.
2- It is full of exercises.

Two things I dislike about this book:
1- It is small and at times does not go into more detail of topics leaving me with unanswered questions.
2- Some of the exercise questions get quite confusing. I am sure with practice and time, they will begin making better sense.

This is a very helpful text on the study of economics.It provides the basics of economics as well as in depth information.The book is also very readable and concepts are illustrated clearly.This is one book that is worth investing in for the study of economics.

This book covers the country profile and analysis of Germany, France, Spain, the UK, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Russia, Ukraine, and Hungary. And the writers of each topic are the experts in that specific area, and all of them are the experts from academic field, government, international organization.
