Don't bother--save your money!
I had given 5 stars to "Valuation," but I feel that this workbook is practically useless for its price. The problems in this book are not very challenging; they merely require echoed answers instead of questions providing in-depth analysis. Common questions include: "Name three issues in valuating X company" or "Name three reasons why X is preferred over B." These are simple questions one could easily answer by taking copious notes. I had expected much more challenging questions from the workbook, but I was sorely disappointed. My advice: Buy "Valuation" but avoid buying this book.

Excellent Companion!
This workbook is a great companion to the bestselling Valuation book by McKinsey. A well organized resource that includes exercises and Q&A. The basic principle allows you to self-test your information and knowledge base. Understanding the valuation process can be challenging at times. This workbook is a great tool to help guide you through the process. I also use it as a quick reference problem solver.

Very disappointed, very misleading
I would describe this book as being a very high level overview of a trading system. If you want to learn how to really build a trading system this is not the book to read. At the end of the book of about 250 pages there are about 100 pages of screen printouts. I was pretty disappointed by this book, expecting some practical formulas and ways of building a trading system. On the upside this book can be read very fast.

Excellent practical guide for developing trading systems
There are three types of traders - discretionary, technical and systems. Once you understand the advantages of being a systems trader, this book will become one of your prize possessions. You will need a copy of TradeStation software in order to test and apply most of the trading systems Joe presents in the book, but once you read the book, if you are serious about trading, you'll get a copy of the program. The book reveals many proprietary trading systems Joe has developed for different markets. The "Buy Monday" system he reveals in the book can easily make you a nice steady, safe income with a few minor refinements (and you don't even need the software for this one). The book details the workings of many trading systems, provides Easy Language code for most and explains why each of the systems works. Easy to read and to the point, this book provides examples of the technical tools and the mindset necessary to help you reduce the fear and uncertainty in trading.

An un-sophistocated step-by-step approach anyone can follow
I found this book to be quite upfront and personal. I felt the author was speaking directly to me. I also felt that the knowledge I received from this book was valuable even though at the onset, I was not firm in my decision as to whether or not I had the necessary confidence to develop my own commodities future system. Krutsinger's book is about as unsophistocated as it can get, while still being rather out-of-reach for beginners. If you delight in learning new things, and if you have a keen desire to build a commodities trading system, this book is definitely for you. The fundamentals, technical indicators, possible problems, pitfalls, and the psychological consequences of developing your own system are each explained. Then you are shown how to develop your own trading system according to your wishes, your wants, your desires, your likes and dislikes. The dessert of this book is chapter 9, which includes $48,000 of trading systems, and surprisingly enough, shows you the LOGIC behind each one! If I could only purchase one book to help me develop my own trading system, it would be this one.

AP Macroeconomics/Microeconomics: An Apex Learning Guide

Maybe too thorough for AP Macro exam
This review ONLY pertains to AP Macroeconomics: Compared to The Princeton Review's study guide from AP econimcs courses, Kaplan's is much longer, possibly too long. Each section is followed by review questions that, while not reflecting AP type questions, test your knowledge of the chapter. While doing these review questions, I noticed that they were far more detailed that what the AP test covers--very general macroeconomic concepts. With too many AP tests to prepare for, I dropped the Kaplan review after 2 or 3 chapters and picked up The Princeton Review's more concise study guide. TPR (The Princeton Review) offers a very good review with great practice exams (I didn't try Kaplan's exams). While taking the AP exam, I felt well prepared and very comfortable with the general concepts, as I did not encounter any detailed questions about economics concepts. As for the accuracy of my recollection, I'm writing this review three days after taking the Macro exam. In general, TPR is more concise than Kaplan, which is not to say one is better than the other, but time can become in issue during May testing. Also, FYI, I believe the Kaplan reviews from 'Apex Learning' are some kind of new edition(s); several AP teachers at my school recieved free copies for marketing/feedback purposes. In order to provide a helpful review, I'll try and remove any ambiguity by stating that I recommend TPR's AP Micro/Macroeconomics (5 stars) over Kaplan's.

Not the Best
I bought this book to review for the AP Micro-Macro exams with little consideration of other options. I'd advise you to do otherwise, namely, to buy another book.

To me, the review of concepts in this book seemed minmal. Although the book's cover says it includes 2 sample tests, it really only includes 1 -- 1 micro and 1 macro.

It's not that Apex Learning's book is terrible, because it's not -- I just think that, after reading some of the reviews of the Princeton Review Economics book, I regretted buying this one.

Its a good book but not the best
I found it very good in explaining what are the tests and how are they beneficial for the people who are going to take it and as well as who are going to give the tests.

It would have been more useful if it had more practice questions.

But i know you would enjoy reading it.

CD-ROM could use improvements
I like the concept of this CD-ROM, but this title could use improvements.
When I installed the CD, I found that it has 340 total questions to "Test Your Aptitude." It has Questionaires on Personality, Mindstyle, Motivation, and Emotional Intelligence. It also has an Ability Test, which is mostly a timed math test. Here is the breakdown on the number of test questions:

Personality (80 Questions, untimed)
Mindstyle (88 Questions, untimed)
Motivation (84 Questions, untimed)
Emotional Intelligence (48 Questions, untimed)
Ability Test (a timed, 40 Question math test)

Improvements needed: A way to print out the test results in a report format. Also, the British bias could be minimized within the math problems for an international audience. The loud timer should be silent when taking the Ability (Math) Test. Lastly, the CD-ROM's installation method could be simplified, as I had some difficulty initially installing the software.

Interesting book
The book has 10 tests with 40 questions each, and with a time limit of 90 min. While I by no means am an expert in IQ books, I think this book is a little annoying. I am not sure that the tests have been really standardized, and there is no chart for calculating an IQ apart from a relative scale. In general I do not think that the tests appear to be 'culture fair'. People who do not have English as first language can forget about solving the questions where English is needed. All together the tests and questions are varied, mistake-free and well thought, but I think that the average person would find other books more interesting. This book is for people who as 'sport' has IQ testing and the authors, well-known IQ writers, must also be said to belong to that category. The questions are certainly challenging and in the upper end of what one finds in IQ test books. I recommend the book but it is not for the beginner.

Major disappointment
I'm not sure I found one worthwhile idea in this book.

Excellent Book and Very Timely
I found this book to be an excellent overview of both value investing and what's going on in the market today. Value is the only strategy that has been working in recent years. More importantly, it has stood the test of time. That's probably why Buffett practices it. This book presents candid strategies from lots of long-time legends, including Martin Whitman, Bill Miller, Charles Royce, and David Dreman. But it also includes interviews with several younger value investors. It's full of valuable insights that every serious investor looking to make money in this market should read. I highly recommend it. You might also check out Kazanjian's other interview-based book "Wizards of Wall Street," which is also an insightful read.

Must reading for investors of all types
While I'm an advocate of the value investing approach, this book is essential reading for all investors (even believers in growth). The author has put together a very eclectic group of outstanding investors. He presents them with excellent questions, and gets them to reveal in detail how they choose stocks. While I took several investment courses in college, I found the advice in this book to be more valuable than anything I learned in school. It's the kind of book you'll want to read, underline, and re-read many times throughout your investment life.

Stay away: it is full of unrealistic questions and errors
This book provides six full-length practice exams. Unfortunatelly after going over them with my daughter I have discoverd that the questions do not realistically represent the coverage and the level of dificulty of recent AP tests. Even worse the book if full of errors, omissions, and logical flaws, in questions themself and in the provided explanations (and I know what I am talking about since I teach chemistry in college).

A Book that looks appealing, but is inaccurate.
At first glance, REA looks like the best choice in AP Chemistry- after all, it has 6 practice tests. But most of the sample questions don't reflect how the real test is like. You don't find complex logarithms on an AP Chem test, and ETS won't be nice enough to ask you which elements are considered Alkali Earth Metals. Avoid this book! It costs more than most other AP Chem tests. Instead, try the comprehensive Princeton Review AP Chemistry. REA may be good at covering AP history topics, but when it comes to science, try another brand.

Advanced Placement Chemistry by the REA
Much depends on how you are utilizing this text. I used it to
assist in studying for the Fundamentals of Engineering
Examination. The text has a good coverage of the periodic
table of elements, emphasis on the halogens, oxidation-
reduction, Boyle's Law, the atomic radii,pH, solutions,
precipitates, exothermic and endothermic reactions, the anode
and cathode, amphoteric substances, lattice points and a variety
of problem sets. Overall, the text is very helpful for studying
the Fundamentals of Engineering Examinations. I would supplement
this with a formal engineering review course and a reasonably
comprehensive text on organic chemistry. A strength of this text
is that it provides many practical examples. It is highly
abbreviated in form. I would utilize the contents to practice
a variety of problems customarily found on collegiate-level
examinations. The author has a detailed explanation of the
preferred solution set. I encountered several problems with

alternate solutions; however, this is a minor aspect.
The thrust of the text is good for preparing students in
applied chemistry.

bad, bad, bad
This book will get you nowhere. I said nowhere.

For Preliminary use only!
This book will give you a basic understanding of the type of material you will need to know in order to pass the series 7. However, the keyword is basic. It is in no way in depth enough. Do yourself a favor and get the real thing. I have used two other study programs and they are MUCH, MUCH better(American Investment Training and Securities Training Inc). They do cost a pretty penny (about $200) but are well worth it. As far as the CD is concerned, don't waste your time with it. Many of the answers are wrong and it does not provide explanations.

passtrak is better
i only used the older version from the library, maybe its better now.but just get the passtrak book, and drill the cd rom tests.youll do fine.

Disappointed....
This book was one of the only books available for purchase with updated information for the new 2004 Computerized CPA exam when I purchased it in mid-December. (The new Wiley books weren't available until the end of December)

The book gives NO significant information about the new exam, except for the breakdown of the new sections (which you can find on the AICPA's website for free). The book reports to have examples of the new simulations; however I didn't find it useful at all. There is a demo of the new exam available on the AICPA's website that gives examples of the new simulations and it appears that much work will be done in spreadsheets, etc. This book doesn't even mention this fact and doesn't show screenshots of a spreadsheet.

Overall, I was VERY disappointed in this book. Lambers CPA Review has a good reputation, so I made the purchase thinking that I would be getting a great reference guide to the new exam. My recommendation to others would be to not waste your money on this book.

good introduction
Don't forget to study hard for the CBT and don't get spooked by the simulations. If you know your accounting and you use the computer in your work, it's not a big deal. The key to success will always be how well you prepared for everything. This book brings the whole process into focus and helps get you started on the right track. It was helpful looking at practice questions from each of the four parts and the solutions are detailed.
