In Controlling Currency Mismatches In Emerging Markets, Morris Goldstein (Dennis Weatherstone Senior Fellow at IIE) and Philip
Turner (Head of the Secretariat Group in the Monetary and Economics Department, Bank for International Settlements) collaborate
in revealing and dealing with past and present weaknesses in economic policies and institutions in contemporary and emerging
markets around the globe. But more than a simply litany of flawed policies and economic ills, the authors present an effective
and practical plan of action to control currency mismatches through a managed floating currency regime, an inflation targeting
regime for monetary policy, regular publication of data on currency mismatches at the sectoral and economy wide levels, stepped
up supervision and monitoring of currency mismatches in banks and in the loan customers, changes in official safety nets and
in IMF policy conditionality, implementation of more prudent debt and reserve management policies in emerging economies, and
a higher priority with respect to developing domestic bond markets, hedging instruments, and reduced barriers respecting foreign-owned
banks within emerging economies. Informed and informative, Controlling Currency Mismatches In Emerging Markets is a sold work
of seminal research and strongly recommended reading for policy makers with respect to international economic issues.

In his book, Mr. Ira Kawaller covers an amazing range of topics from risk managemant to stock options. I have never read
a book so incredibly exciting in all of my life. Mr. Kawaller knows how to display the facts, provide informative facts,
and decorate it all with a wit and charm that thrives in his book. "Financial Futures and Options" is THE book for risk
management lovers everywhere. This book inspired me to change my career choices. After reading "Futures" (in one sitting!)
I knew that prostitution and drug dealing was just not for me. I am now an economist making over $600,000 a year and loving
it. Thank you, Mr. Kawaller. You turned my life around. (From what everyone is saying, I believe Mr. Kawaller now runs
his own business called Kawaller & Company in Brooklyn, NY. If you ever need help financially, Mr. Kawaller will personally
see to it that you get back on track. After all, risk can be managed if it is faced in a disciplined way. Ignore it and
you face disaster. E-mail Kawaller and Company at kawaller@idt.net and good luck!)

I work in the securities industry, and this book accurately described the markets and products without the detailed mathematics.
I would recommend this book as a first reading before the Hull and White book which is much more mathematical.
Too bad it's out of print. I'd like everyone in my group to have a copy.

I consider the book a perfect guide written by a professional for professionals. If you are looking for scientific completeness
and complication, go somewhere else. If you are looking for a competent down-to-earth reference, this is your book. I wonder
when the third edition of this valuable tool will be published.

This is a great book! Rosenberg has succeeded in making a dry and complicated topic, foreign exchange, both interesting and
understandable. The chapter on intervention is especially timely and enlightening. Rosenberg is rated tops in his field
by professional fx traders and portfolio managers, yet he has succeeded in writing a book that is both useful and interesting
to both professionals and nonprofessionals. This is a must read for anyone involved in international markets.

I got this book and a copy of another book by Michael Rosenberg "Exchange Rate Determination". The contents of these two
books is exactly the same. Same topics covered in both books. I made the mistake of purchsing both when I should have only
bought Exchange Rate Determination which is priced more decently than the out-of-print version. These used book resellers
are selling the Currency forecasting book at a non-sense exorbitant price.

If you haven't read anything about FX market, this may be a good start. But if you already read any introductory handbook,
this one will be redundant.
Also I agree that there was too much of reference. There is ca. 190 pages of real content and ca 90 pages of additional stuff that generally could be found in the Internet.

I'm sorry to say but this book is not giving me anything to learn only a bunch of information that you can get thru googling
the terms like what is GDP, PPI, CPI etc, this book is not telling you anything the most important thing about trading like
how to trade ( Technical ), risk management, or even trading psikology.

The Auther explain the underlining historical events ( e.g. the ups and down of dollar Yen exchange rate) that lead to the
boom and bust of the Asian economics. He also account for the 1994 Mexico financial crisis in similar manner. Useful for
understanding events shaping the world's economics.

This is a good book -- it tells what we already know. Too bad that the author could not predict any of these events -- but
then of course hindsight is always 20/20! I do not think this book helps one to do business in Asia. One major drawback
- the author seems to have no understanding of Asian business and seems not to have sullied his conclusions by speaking
with any Asians. Read this book for a glimpse of perfect hindsight -- but read also "New Asian Emperors: the Overseas
Chinese their Strategies and Competitive Advantages" by George T. Haley for a more fair appraisal of the Asian situation
and a terrific understanding of Asian business.

There are better books out there to spend your money on. The copy I have was printed in 1993 and a lot of things have changed since this first edition.
It is useless for individual traders.
You would be better off to buy John Murphy's books; Mark Douglas' books and John L. Person's book.
Just my humble opinion.

This is an awful book. Each currency pair gets a chapter in the book. Some general background and some charts are provided
for each pair. That's the whole story. I cannot understand how such a poor manuscript can be published under the name of a
reputable publisher. This book isn't even worth $5. Zero stars!
Addition: I didn't try to copy the earlier reviewer when I wrote this!

Just a bunch a historical forex charts on the major currencies. The authors add a ridiculous data called "activity" that simply
shows that the forex market is very active during the european and the american sessions (wow, what a revelation, like we
did not notice already!) and voila! you have a totally worthless "book" selling for almost 90 bucks. Save your money and run
fast, even if this "book" was simply given away for free, it would still be expensive!!! It's a pity, amazon does not have
a MINUS 5 star rating.
