Capt. Kahn has researched it all, from the route to take to be eligible, the requirements to be competitive, the interview and any facet you might imagine. A great book for a sponsoring parent guiding an aspiring pilot. A gotta-have-book for any up and coming aviator's library. She's a great lady, a long tenured airline captain, and her heart is in helping others.
A great gift for that pilot-to-be. I'd give it an "A+++"

Pat Ross gives interesting information about flower arranging, but the real charm of this little gem is in the illustrations by Carolyn Bucha. Her watercolors are glorious. Next time you want to send flowers to cheer up a friend, give them everlasting ones in the form of this book!

I'd say that this little book is as useful to beginners as any tying guide. Every page has several useful tips. For the experienced tier, the book has a number of gems well worth the low cost of this book.

Book Changed my Life

I met a Swede and fell in love. I decided to go and visit him in Stockholm during Christmas break. I had never flown on my own before. This book saved me. It gave me the details I needed to know to get around the airports. I kept it in my carry-on and referred to it when needed.

Ohhhhh...we were engaged on that trip back in 2000/2001. We have been happily married for over four years now!

A Traveler's Best Friend

I'm not sure if I know of a better, thorough travel book than Fodor's Austria (or any other Fodor's guide). This book gives good background information for the major cities in Austria, and also points out noteworthy elements of other smaller, but equally interesting, burgs. It also provides essential elements you should know before embarking on your trip to Austria, covering such things as insurance, insect bites, and identity cards. Interspersed throughout the descriptions are occasional maps that give you bearing on where you are and where you're headed. The sections on Vienna, Salzburg, and Graz, Austria's three biggest cities, provide in-depth information and are useful for the first-time traveler or the seasoned veteran.
The one drawback is a pull-out map (there is a small map of Austria at the back of the book, but not very useful) that other Fodor's books have. And this book is in direct contrast to Eye-Witness Austria, a book that is overloaded with picture content. Fodor's Austria is mainly a text-oriented companion, but very useful for your trips around the country.

I always travel with Fodors. They have a very easy setup. They have listings for nightlife, hotels, recreation and shopping. Restaurants and hotels are divided up according to price and reviewed. Maps are given of popular tourist areas. It's great for planning ahead.

ONE OF THE BEST TRAVEL GUIDES ON THE MARKET!
Helpful Votes: 12 out of 12 total.
Review Date: 2001-02-20
Whether you have been to Europe before or planning a first-time trip, this is a "must-have" book. It is an excellent reference guide that will probably be one of the first things you pack in your travel bag.

When it comes to accommodations, the book covers everthing from luxury hotels to bed and breakfast establishments and provides reviews. Whether your preference is fine European cuisine or simply a place to "eat on the run" (which, in my experience, is something the majority of Europeans rarely seem to do)this book has it all. From travellers tips to maps, this handy, complete guide has a wealth of information on various European countries and the many spectacular attractions. Of course, to thoroughly enjoy the country you are travelling in, you may want to learn a little of the language. If you are a first-time visitor, beware that many of the locals in quaint little boutiques, open-air markets, and "off the beaten path" hide-aways do not necessarily speak English. Whether you are seeing Europe in the lap of luxury or travelling on a shoe-string budget....buy this book; it is a terrific little investment in travel planning. You will learn an enormous amount about the country you are planning to visit before the plane departs.

I hate to fly and yet I am flying to England soon, and this book helped me a lot. I would certainly recommend it, especially if you could get it at your library and not buy it. I found it at my library right after I bought it.
