Scientifically Credible - Editorially humorous
As a chemist with more than 18 years in research and 4 years studying nutrition, I have reviewed and researched many books on the medicinal properties of herbs. I find this book to be one of my favorites. It contains enough information to satisfy my appetite for the pharmacological composition of herbs while being extremely pleasant to read. Dr. Presser has a unique wit and manner of writing. As an owner of two health food stores I find myself recommending this book above all others for anyone asking for additional information on herbs and their medicinal value. Definitely a must have!

Possibly the best herb book on the market!
As a nutritionist and natural health educator, I highly recommend Pharmacist's Guide to Medicinal Herbs. It's well-researched, fun to read, and easy to find what you're looking for. Dr. Presser has managed to present scientifically credible information while maintaining a style of writing which is not only easy to read, but clearly reflective of his wonderful sense of humor. Furthermore, Pharmacist's Guide to Medicinal Herbs is especially important at this time since we currently live in an age of self-prescription regarding herbs. Up-to-date information is extremely important to help consumers make educated decisions. Dr. Art Presser's book is just what the doctor ordered. As a matter of fact, doctors who are interested in integrating herbal medicine into their practice should read Pharmacist's Guide to Medicinal Herbs too.

information with a touch of humor
Dr. Presser has taken a subject that can be a bit boring and injected humor here and there which makes it not only enjoyable to read but very informative. I find myself looking forward
to reading another chapter much the same way I look forward to reading a novel.

Clearly Dr. Presser has a unique and refreshing way of delivering
information that could otherwise be quite boring.

I look forward to any forthcoming books from Dr. Presser.

Phobia Free: Medical Breakthrough Linking 90% of All Phobias and Panic Attacks to a Hidden Physical Problem

The most important book on phobias and their treatment.
A lot of people suffer -- and I do mean suffer -- from one or more phobias, and a lot of techniques are offered by various therapists to treat phobias. Unfortunately, while some of these treatments may reduce phobic symptoms somewhat, relatively few phobics are actually cured. In this excellent book, Dr. Harold Levinson explains the reasons for this situation. One is that there are three different types of phobias, a fact not generally recognized. About 5% or so of phobias are caused primarily by a neurotic condition of some sort. These phobias often respond to conventional psychotherapy whereas most phobias do not. Another 5% or so of phobias are caused by a severe trauma, such as being bitten by a dog or being in a plane that almost crashes. These phobias are often helped by desensitization therapy. But if phobias that are caused primarily by neurosis or trauma account for only about 10% of all phobias, what is the primary cause of the other 90%? Dr. Levinson's brilliant discovery is that the root cause of most phobias is a disorder of the cerebellar-vestibular sustem, called in lay terminology "the inner ear." Dr. Levinson also found that inner ear disorders are the primary cause of dyslexia and that there is a very high correlation between dyslexia and phobias. About 90% of people who are phobic or dyslexic are both phobic and dylexic. Fortunately, Dr. Levinson has found that about 80% of cases of both phobias and dyslexia respond to at least one of the inner ear medications currently available, including dramamine, scopolamine, and Benadryl. Inner ear disorders are relatively easy for trained audiologists to detect and verify by the battery of tests available to them, but they seldom are detected by routine examinations made by general practitioners or even ear, nose, and throat specialists. If you suffer from phobias and/or dyslexia -- as I do -- please read this book with an open mind. It may literally change your life for the better. In my case, thorough audiological testing -- as described in this book -- revealed that I do indeed have an inner ear disorder which was not detected by routine examinations. Based on this finding, my physician tried the inner ear medications listed by Dr. Levinson and found one that has given me significant relief. Therefore, I am recommending this book from personal experience.

Phobia Free A Medical Breakthrough linking 90% Of All Phobia
I Have been phobic for the last five years, i've been hospitalised and housebound. My phobias started on a day trip in the country with what I know now as a panic attack,it was the most frightening exprience of my life as I thought I was going mad and or had a brain tumour. After psychiatry, hypnotherapy, counciling and reiki healing. After numerous amounts of medication and none to my relief,my phobias incresed and I was desperate I could see no way out of this living nightmare. I got the book and finished it in an evening it was brilliant I'am now on the medication 3 weeks and everyday I lose a phobia its a miracle and I would just like to thank Dr Harold Levinson for giving me what i can only say is my life back--

A must read for those suffering from OCD and Phobias
This is beneficial information for those suffering from OCD. Dr. Levinson's theory has led to my complete recovery. His theory attributes the disorder to a "medical" condition of the inner-ear called a cerebellar-vestibular dysfunction and is easily treated and corrected with a combination of antihistamines, antimotion-sickness, and antianxiety medications that he prescribes. Soon after starting the medication, the disorder was gone. Calmness and total control were shortly established. Prior to this were many months of unsuccessful behavioral therapy treatment with no relief occuring. Dr. Levinson's treatment doesn't just give some relief from OCD, it rids it! His book "Phobia Free" is extremely helpful and describes in depth how the cv-dysfunction is related to all anxiety. It describes why obsessive thoughts occur and how they are thoughts that are just not being properly filtered. The title of this book, "Phobia Free," is truly ! ! a perfect description of how an OCD sufferer feels after being treated by Dr. Levinson for this "medical" condition called the cv-dysfunction.

A Great Resource for the Comic collector/fan
What a [great] set of volumes. I am a huge comic collector, owning every issue of Spider-Man ever printed, but I am also a great fan and collector of various other comics, and a comic-history buff. These books are a joy to just flip through, learning about Golden and Silver Age comics. The pictures are gorgeous, all in color on glossy paper. And there's 10's of thousands of them! Well worth the money and worth their weight in gold if you're a true comic fan and collector! Might be a bit much for just the casual comic enthusiast. These 2 books and the two volume Marvel set are the standard by which all other collecting resources should be held to!

Covers 21700 of them.
What can you say about two books that have 21700 comic book covers beautifully printed on gloss paper? WOW! for a start. No one is going to better Ernst and Mary Gerber's five-year labor of love to complete this project. If you collect comics from 1935 thru 1965 you need these. I don't collect them but as a publication designer I have an interest in the visual aspects of popular culture so I got a set...despite the price!

Open either book anywhere and start looking and it soon becomes apparent that this is a very comprehensive collection, I kept coming across comics that ran for a few issues, sometimes only one issue. Each cover has up to twenty-five pieces of information, essential for collectors. Many show a cover of the only copy known to exist. The first sixteen pages of each book has text about collecting comics and their values. I liked the page in book two that is devoted to ads that appeared on the back covers, strangely some collectors only go for these, if you do, go for a copy of 'Hey Skinny!' by Mike Beller and Jerry Leibowitz, surely the only book about the subject.

Author Gerber says on the jacket flap...''if you spend one minute examining each picture, eight hours per day, five days a week, it would require an astounding NINE weeks to complete the job.'' Nine weeks later have a rest and then go and buy the two volume 'Photo-Journal Guide to Marvel Comics' and start to look at a further 7700 covers!

A gorgeous compilation of 20th Century Art!
I was amazed at the scope of this book, every cover from 1935-1965, and the labor that must have gone into compiling and producing it. Its extremely well photographed, carefully indexed, and the quality of paper and binding is excellent. For serious comic book collectors, it's worth every penny. A lifetime book.

A great read for fitness enthusiasts!
As a cyclist and runner, I never before thought that I could benefit from Pilates. This book definitely changed that, and I recommend it to both serious athletes and anyone looking to improve their endurance and well-being. The stretches are great, and the pictures are easy to follow.

Photos make it easy to follow
A lot of exercise books are difficult to use for an actual workout. This book solves that problem with detailed descriptions for each move and later a purely visual guide that shows thumbnails of each pose. I'm not an "athelete", but I like to workout and wanted to start pilates to help with those aches and pains I get from the gym. This book is going to make it easy to get a pilates workout in a few times a week.

This book is incredibly well written, clear and concise. It gives great tips for those who do engage in the major sports featured (tennis, golf, skiing, running, etc.). Highly recommended!

A new approach
I have been practicing Pilates for about one year. The Pilates Edge has helped me to focus on my own sports - biking and skiing - and develop specific muscles for those sports and avoid injury. The book is very detailed and the photos help tremendously. Thanks for taking a new approach to an already great exercise program!

Teach your child to read - and write
As a parent, you read to your children. But how do they learn to read? It's not one of those activities that is learned through observation. This book covers the steps that may seem transparent but are being assimilated through school, TV, etc. While the book is geared toward teachers, the instruction is clear, concise and reinforced by examples. Now I read for my child's instruction as well as enjoyment. I also create simple word games to play when we are away from home. As a result, I have seen a marked increase in my (3 year old) child's interest in and aptitude for both spelling and reading.

Great Resource
This book is very comprehensive. It includes wonderful ideas that can be applied in the classroom. In addition, it gives wonderful insight on the phonetic process. Assessments are included as well reading problems and possible solutions to these problems. This is a wonderful book to have in your personal reference library. I refer back to it at least once a month.

No other phonics book will ever be needed!
I did extensive research on phonics and took out numerous ones from the library to find the one I thought would be best for my simple, friendly teaching style. I was hoping to find 1 to meet the needs of an emergent reader and be able to carry us through to middle school. This one will do it for you! Awesome curriculum supplement to non-homeschooled kids!

Excellent Help for the Writer
As a professional copywriter I will tell you that this is an excellent book and you would be well advised to have it at hand every time you write anything that is important to you --- especially sales letters and advertising material.

Is Perfect Too Strong of A Description?
I have used the previous book "Words that Sell" as one of my secret copywriting tools for years.

Lingappa's and Farey's Rules
My name is Marco Antonio Vazquez and I am a physician from Mexico. To tell the truth, "Physiological Medicine" is an excelent book. Unfortunately, there is not an spanish edition. You see, when I was a medical student, I did not read english and I had never had a chance to read a book like this one. I remember that I used to read some good Physiology's books: Berne and Levy, Guyton and Best and Taylor.

In my private practice, because of the clinical cases, I have used this book a lot. This cases makes me think in real human beens with real problems. Because of this situations I think medicine is an art.
In some ways due to this book I have become to be a much more humble physician. I believe that I understand better my own limitations. Nature is quite much more complex that I used to think. In some way, I think that nature defends itself against some of our medical actions.

I really enjoy reading books like this and Lehninger's Biochemistry. It is fantastic to understand the real foundations, how it works our body, from biomolecules to organs and systems. I hope that this very basic knowledge makes me a better physician and human been at last.

DO NOT HESITATE, YOU SHOULD BUY THIS WONDERFUL BOOK¡¡¡¡

Physiological Medicine - excellent clinical and basic book
I used this book in a 2nd year medical student course taught by V. Lingappa, and I've read it almost in it's entirety - it's that easy to read and understand. I've never done that with any other text. The clinical pearls are very insightful and helpful to bring clinical relevance to the
material.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone studying physiology
as a primary text or as an excellent resource. It's been very helpful
to me as a medical student.

Great Book!
If you are a medical student and want a refreshing, interesting approach to learning basic physio, this book is a dream!
Fundamental information is explained clearly and thoroughly, clinical examples are given throughout the book, and the author has a very realistic and helpful attitude toward medical knowledge and the practice of medicine.

An Excellent Book by an Excellent Scholar
I personally knew Mr. Melczer both as my instructor and later as a friend and I simply cannot say enough about this man. Studying in Spain with Mr. Melczer in 1990 I can say he truly opened my eyes to history, art and culture. I took copious notes, but I realized I could never fully "absorb" the knowledge that this man imparted to his students. He inspired me to enter the field I am in now.
This book is an excellent presentation of one of the most remarkable journeys traversed by so many people throughout history. The research is excellent and the reading is very clear. This book is a must for any person interested in Spanish history

Revealing, Practical and Poetic
As a collector of guide books about Iberia, I found this volume exceptionally revealing, practical and poetic.

Lucid, Inspiring, Insightful and Profound
Wow! This book is lucid, inspiring, insightful and profound. It really uses the Guide as a window to the medieval mind. Outstandingly scholarly and genuinely readable. A winner!

A Great Starter Book
A top-notch book for beginners, and a great inspiration for those who have already mastered the basics. If you're a beginner, the clear instructions, line drawings, and excellent photography will help you out immensely. The book begins with a simple project, with step-by-step instructions that are easy to follow. You'll be so proud of your results, you'll want to continue, and the book won't let you down on providing finer points on stitching, shaping, center variations, etc. The photos of superb baskets, especially those by Lee Sipe, show you what master artisans can do with the basic techniques. Highly recommended.

Pine Needle Basketry, by Judy M. Mallow
As a beginner, I found that this book contained everything that I needed to know to make beautiful pine needle baskets. The author gives detailed instructions on each step, starting with gathering and preparing the pine needles. There is a section on materials needed, and alternatives that may be used. The step by step instructions for making your first basket are clear and easy to follow. In addition, the author covers several methods for the center of baskets, including teneriffe. Futher, there are many beautiful pictures of advanced baskets in the book.

I love this book!!!
