Great for all agesA simple, straightforward yet poetic book, imaginatively illustrated, which communicates a real value of life...'A moon boy is not a toy, you can't lock it in a box, you have to let it go'...which I enjoy as much as my 3-year-old (and its her favorite).

A great farce (or is it?)I read this long ago in my school library, and I'm rather disappointed to find it out of print. It's a direct sequal to "The Mouse that Roared", where the Duchy of Grand Fenwick deals with a serious problem -- too much money. Individually, we can wish for that problem, but on a nationwise scale, too much money equals inflation. To cure a nationwide inflation problem, the ministers come up with a solution -- lose the money in the stock market. As with "The Mouse that Roared", the plan gets seriously fractured by the agents used to implement it, and some real crazy stuff goes on before things are settled.

A fun way to learn the alphabetThis is a fun, colorful, and educational book. The familar characters and the rhyming verses make the book fun to read. I have a 20 month old son that loves it, he has me read it to him at least five times a day. He knows what the pictures are of and enjoys pointing them out to me. I highly recommend this book to parents. You and your child (or children) will thoroughly enjoy it.

Adorable, adorable! My daughter loves this book. I think just about any 3, 4 or 5 year old girl can relate to Zoe. She talks about where she lives on Sesame Street, things she likes to do (play tea party, cars, ride on Big Bird's shoulders and look at books), she talks about loving to wear bracelets.
But she does NOT like to be cootchie-cootchie-cooed. The expression on her face, as she's enduring a lady cootchie-cootchie-cooing her is just hilarious. She looks just like my daughtr does when SHE'S being patronized and doesn't like it.
Zoe does explain that Elmo likes it, so you can cootchi-cootchie-coo him all you want. (Then you see Elmo, offering up his chin for just such affection!)
This book is interactive - very ingenious. This is a playful book. Original and fun, bright illustrations and sturdy binding.
Highly recommended!

A great Mystery PuzzleThis was another very challenging and insight-provoking puzzle adventure from Usborne. They have done a great job with all of their books, and this is no exception. The story goes like this: After reading a comic book in his uncle's attic, Tim finds himself mysteriously transported to Mainsville- a 1950s town inhabited by strange people, including a powerless superhero, a "pack"(read the book and you'll get the joke) of evil villains, and a friendly biker gang. On the way, you get to go to the Barber Shop, the Mainsville Hop, the sewer system, and some very other interesting Mainsville places. Of course, the book centers around the Hypnostone. Once its two halves are reunited, the possessor will have the power to rule the universe. This showdown reaches its climax at the Main Street Carnival procession. A must read for anyone who likes to be challenged.

Satisfying Historical Work and Unconventional GuidebookA hitherto neglected topic among the plethora of Natchez books is the return of a measure of economic prosperity during the 1870s, 1880s, and 1890s, and the efforts to maintain that prosperity during the early decades of the Twentieth Century. Using a remarkable collection of wet-plate photographs that span three generations of Natchez photographers and nearly one hundred years, the Gandys illustrate the effects this new-found prosperity had upon the built environment of downtown Natchez, Mississippi. With careful research evident the book makes succinct comments about these photographs. Besides the changing buildings and transportation modes the selected photographs include frequent, compelling human vignettes--merchants, workers, shoppers, parade watchers and participants--the myriad of human activity that swirled about downtown Natchez. Although this is not a book of Natchez houses, it complements such books by detailing the area and eras in which the post-bellum residents shopped and worked. I consider NATCHEZ CITY STREETS REVISITED an altogether satisfying historical document and one whose photographs will serve as a delightful, if unconventional, guide to the structures--extant and extinct--of downtown Natchez.
