Kathryn Lasky turns a simple visit to Boston into a magical experience. She brings to life the every-day things that we normally never notice and turns them into something special. I've lived right next to Marlborough Street for years, but have never noticed how "the chimneys have pots that look like funny hats: some like top hats, some like knights' helmets, some like peaked clowns' hats." She turns the weeping willow trees in the Public Garden into the "Place of Green Rain" and calls the three white stone buildings across the street "The Brides". You'll appreciate any historic neighborhood in a new light after reading this delightful book.

this book is a boy called rudy, who is shipped off to camp, by his ununderstanding mother and father. he is not an outdoors lover, and he is miserable. he makes with another boy, who is called mike. rudy is fantastic in everything he does, but he just doesn't want to help his cabin, and his loudmouthed counsler Chip Booth. He made so many attempts to escape, people have to go to extra lenghts to insure that he stays at camp. He and his new friend Mike, try to bulid a dam, so that if by chance it ever rained, the camp would flood and they could go home. Even if you usually don't like stories about the outdoors, i think that you should read this book, because it is hilarious.

I found Weidner's findings fascinating and insightful. A must read for those interested in the truth about crime prevention related to prostitution.

This book, while written in 1971, still has lessons for our time--perhaps a depressing thought for us today, or a testament to Burton's writing and forward-thinking. She talks about basic issues of how to divide housework, how to deal with difficult issues of gender differences and divisions, and how to raise a family with positive values. This book is a good, quick read, and I recommend it highly.

In Brett Harvey's Immigrant Girl: Becky of Eldridge Street, we see the plight of those who immigrated to America at the beginning of the 20th century. Becky has moved to New York City with her family from Russia to escape the pogroms that were carried out against Jewish people. Becky's simple story of her new and exciting life in America provides an enjoyable read that is true to its time.

I like the way this book introduces a consultative selling approach into the interviewing process. It gave me a lot more confidence that I could finesse job interviews.

There is a new (third edition) of this book out now that addresses some of the ways in which the interviewing process is changing in order to adapt to a better economy.

Henry Weingarten's Investing By The Stars: Using Astrology In The Financial Markets show how to use astrology to make better investing and market trading decisions; how to buy and sell stocks based on astrological positions; how to utilize astrology to predict market timing, market psychology, and market-affecting geopolitical events; and how to integrate astrology into conventional market analysis. This book reveals the incredible corruption that permeated Wall Street during the mid to late 1990's. It even goes so far as to disclose the names of public companies, investment bankers and individuals that conspired to make this period so treacherous for the investing public. It describes many of the signs and signals of serious irregularities that every investor should know about, whether they invest via mutual funds or as individuals.

The second half of the book involves investment technique and how to find good quality sound investments. Much of the information in this section is consistent with what the greatest value investor of all time, Warren Buffet might have written. I back-tested some of the author's ideas and was amazed to find that they really work.

I think it is extremely useful for any investor, novice or veteran. We all think we know what works, but it is easy to stray from disciplined investment protocol, especially during a bubble era. Following the defined investment approach that Plemenos espouses in this book will almost certainly insulate an investor from being mauled by a bear market and enhance market returns during the bull.

A wonderful book that helps teach the alphabet to young ones, but also is fun to share and read. My son's grandmother and he alike love the book. He loves the ryming verses and the involvement of the alphabet in each page's adventure in a new store on alphabet Street. His Grandmother found it was a warm book to share with her grandson. A book that is both an enjoyable favorite and teaches lessons or skills is the best one for all. Besides learning the alphabet, my son found the illustrations friendly and memorable. It provided a lasting memory of his grandmother, which he told many others about. You know if it's a child's favorite book, and his grandmother chose it for him, it's a keeper!

This is the second book that I have gotten from Joe. As an officer in NC, I have attended one of his classes. Folks, he is the BEST spanish instructor that I have EVER had and I will take more of his classes and recommend him to anyone. I learned more spanish from him in a 5 day class than I did in 3 years worth in High School. I have ordered a second book from him to replace the one that I wore out. This is the most excellent book that you can buy. This is what this book has folks... danger words/expressions, felony traffic stops, misd traffic stops, DWI processing, intake processing, and God only knows how much more. It is worth it.
