I'm a firm believer that the more difficult trading techniques are, the harder it is to make a profit. Mike Coval's book keeps it simple, and it works! Terrific book.

In my short life as a trader, I have purchased well over a dozen books related to this subject. If this is not the best book, it is certainly unsurpassed. It is easy to read and very much, the kind of book you will read once... then review and reference again and again. I have been to a live seminar that Mike Coval has taught. Mike is the type of person that walks the talk. His book is a reflection of that. I can personally attest that his techniques and advice can make money in better trades and save money easily lost in costly mistakes.

What I like best about this book is it reveals information that most people think you already know when it comes to investing. It brings insights into fundamental and techinical analysis that as an investor for over 15yrs had never really been shown to me. Easy to read and apply to my own investing style. Now I feel much more confident about making investment decisions and knowing what to look for. I keep it next to my computer for a reference book as well. I'm giving it as a gift to all my friends who lost money listening to their broker!

As an RPCV who has lived for 2 years in a third world country, I thought I'd seen it all until I read this book. The information the authors share can make any American's vacation abroad safer and more interesting.
The last chapter on IDENTITY THEFT (it's not money you should worry about losing--it's your credit cards!) alone is worth the price of this book. Identity theft is growing at an alarming rate in America. Even if you never plan to travel abroad, we all need this information to protect ourselves at home.

Not since my high-school days and the reading of Charles Dickens have I thought about pickpockets and how they work. Travel Advisory opened my eyes and made me much more aware that this goes on today. When I was younger, I had lost a wallet in London, but felt it was my own clumsiness; however, now I not so sure.

The first three chapters alone should be a must read for the vacation traveler.

Travel Advisory is a neat book, covers a lot different scams that can befall the unadvised traveler and is worth a full read. I strongly recommend it.

I have been following the investigative efforts of Bob Arno and Bambi Vincent for several years and have anticipated the release of this book for months. Having worked in law enforcement for thirty years, I highly recommend this book to everyone in the law enforcement community. It goes far beyond the criminal act by revealing the mind of the criminal who preys upon the unwary on a daily basis. The book is both informative and entertaining to anyone who is interested in prevention of everday personal thefts and scams while traveling at home or abroad. The interviews and personal narratives of the various crinminals encountered by Bob and Bambi are fascinating. Once you begin to read the book, it is hard to put it down until finished.

The Triumphs of Joseph is simply one of the most important books to be written since the Civil Rights Movement. I teach diversity classes and I use Triumphs as a primary text to offset the constant presentation by black leaders (often self-proclaimed) and the media that African Americans are somehow deficient in ordinary resilience and social strategies and need the paternalistic help of governmental and private agencies. Why do so many people who are not disadvantaged feel free to define for the disadvantaged what their needs, wants, and goals are? Dr. Woodson is sure to offend those who are the vicarious victims and parasitic victimizers of the poor but the validity of his message cannot be denied. Coming from a disadvantaged background myself, I have lived some of the situations he describes yet today I hold a doctorate and teach at the college level. Dr. Woodson is definitely a winner with a winning plan. If you want to be a winner, stick with the winners.

This is one of the most inspiring books I have ever read. The further I read into it the more I was moved by the narrative, and the stories.

The book has very few statistics and is not heavy in technical detail. But whatever its perceived fault could be, it pales in comparison with the passion, power and truthfulness of its message.

Learn about the small, scattered and underresourced groups of men and women that are transforming the inner cities of America and the implication that this has for the social renewal of all of our socieity.

This book is inspiring, practical, and immensely moving. I believe it should be read by every person in United States who has even a bit of honesty to face the problems of our communities, even a little strength to care about others, and a desire to have their eyes opened to the powerful solutions that are available in very humble quarters!

Every black person in the United States ought to devote an evening or two to reading this book. It shows in a concise 100-plus pages that "Black History" includes the triumphs of self-sufficiency which were considered ordinary before the Civil Rights movement taught the race that "progress" meant handouts and lowered standards of evaluation. The inner cities are slowly rising out of the ashes, not through government charity but through residents working the system to change their own destinies, making their peace with an unfair past. No book says this better. Everyone -- buy this book and regain your hope.

I am 21 years old, and still remember being handed this book before going to the hospital when I was quite young. I remember feeling more comfortable with all of the things I would see, and feeling safer knowing that Grover did not have a scary time :) I would absolutely recommend this book to parents of children who will be having a hospital stay.

My son has had numerous surgeries, from open-heart surgery to the placement of ear tubes. This book was recommended to us by the Child Development Department at Boston Children's Hospital several years ago and it has become part of our pre-op routine. Prior to each surgery, we read this book over, and over, and over again! It is a terrific book for the toddler: the words are simple, the characters are very recognizable from Sesame Street, and Grover has a good experience. Our son takes the book, his Fisher Price medical kit, and Tickle Me Elmo whenever he goes into the hospital. Obviously, we highly recommend this book, regardless of the type of surgical experience.

I sent this book to my 4 yr old niece just before she went to have her tonsils removed. It really helped her without scaring her. She even brought it to the hospital so her parents could read it to her again! Perfect for this age group!

Scott Flint is an accomplished martial artist and self defense trainer. In this book he will teach you ways to increase your awareness, methods to develop your instinctual fighting ability and techniques to keep you safe wherever you go.

This is not a book for the faint of heart or weak of stomach. Scott goes right for the jugular, and pulls no punches with the techniques shown. His style is very much 'in your face' and up close and personal. As he puts it 'you must become your assailant's worst nightmare ' if you are to survive'

As a full time self defense trainer and part time law enforcement officer, I am constantly amazed by recommendations made by well-intentioned people that you should 'give in ' to the attacker and just do whatever he says. My experience and research has shown that the individuals who are mentally aware, properly trained and are willing to fight back are the survivors. This book clearly shows how to do all three.

The good news is that statistics show that the people that are the most prepared to defend themselves are the most likely not to get attacked. Although most attackers are dumb, they are not stupid. Just as the tiger looks for the weakest animal in the herd, the predator looks for signs of weakness when choosing a victim. Just the mere act of preparing yourself may be enough to keep you safe.

Waking the Tiger Within is easy to follow and understand and should be considered a must-read for anyone interested in defending themselves and their loved ones from violent attacks.

Just wanted to let you know that I have read this book and it is great!! It is the best material I have ever encountered that deals with self-defense. It is full of useful tips and ideas to keep you and your loved ones safe. This book should be required reading for everyone. If you are contemplating buying this book, go ahead. What a GREAT book! For those like myself and my wife, who have long ago eclipsed Jack Benny's 39 years, and who are also handicapped, staying safe in a violent world is not easy. Martial arts? Try them with Degenerative Joint Disease. We knew there had to be a better, easier way for those of us long past our prime "fighting years". As a volunteer personal safety instructor, I read, watch videos and attend as many seminars and programs as possible, always looking for ways to keep ourselves, and others, safe.
"Waking the Tiger Within" by Scott Flint has to be one of the best sources of staying safe to come along in some time. The book covers not only the number one ingredient of safety, ie awareness, but guides the reader into developing "Your natural built-in instinct to survive". His chapter, "Stop Button" is exactly what we have searched for: ending "an attack in one second." (No gun, pepper spray or Black Belt needed.) Worth the price of the book by itself.

Got kids or grandchildren? Worried about bullies? His chapters on these subjects are excellent.
Road Rage? Car-Jacking? (What would YOU do, if locked in the trunk of your car by an assailant?)
Many of the areas Scott writes about are covered in the seminars I present, but this book opens up a host of new, and surprisingly simple, techniques that almost anyone, at any age, in any state of health, can grasp and use.
Chapter One begins with these words: "No one ever has the right to hurt you." When you have finished reading and following the simple advice presented in these pages, you will be a long way toward the realization of that goal.
Buy this book for yourself and give copies to those you love.

This excellent, accessible, and extremely well documented integration of the economics, administrative infrastructure and politics of the economy is a must read. Canterbery clearly deflates current politically correct talking point that Dubyah's skewed tax cut is in any meaningful way related to "capital formation". With only 5% of the transactions in the stock and bond market attributable to the "primary" capital raising markets (i.e. IPOs and new treasury debt) the churning of the remaining 95% of the secondary market is the "overhead" that's necessary to achieve "efficient" pricing for capital. That's like a shop owner who has to sustain $95 in operating overhead to keep his store open in order to make $5 in sales.

Witty, insightfully integrative and deadly accurate, this is a must read.

The past decade of financial euphoria has slowly built in the public's mind the myth of the "millionaire next door," and the belief that democratic redistribution, through capital markets accessible to all, existed. This book, owing to a thorough analysis of the US capital markets, definitely draws an accurate and realistic picture of who the real "winners" are. The answer is explosive and the statements fully backed up with data. If you want to have a better understanding of how the Fed, the government, and the markets have been creating this "dream come true," this book is definitely a must read.

This book explains why the health of the stock market is not equivalent to the health of the economy. The Wall Street bull has transferred enoumous amounts of wealth from the bottom 95% to the top 5% of the population. The result is an economy that is producing goods and services at a rate that is well below its capacity to produce, reducing the standard of living of all but those few who are winning the speculative Wall Street lottery. The book is written in an engaging style with plenty of data to back up the claims. A very important book for a very crucial time in the economic history of the US.

This is a great learners manual for the real behind the closed doors intrigue and secrets of Wall Street. I felt like I was eavesdropping - the scenes were so authentic. The sex and romance between all the players was delicious. Loved every hot minute of it. Ariane and Alex (heroine and hero) were complicated and interesting characters that left me breathless. LOVED the book. Great author who grabbed me from page one.

Loved this book. Great characters, plot and dirty dealings. Insider's voice of wall street too true. Hot,hot, hot!

Real Wall Street lingo and know how from an obvious well placed source. True stuff! Good hot sexy goings on with the good, the bad and the never ugly. Good sense of time and place with real sites captured perfectly. This author has a great ear.

We are trying to get an "island" feel for our home and this book was the perfect reference. Not only are the pictures of the homes (inside and out) breathtaking, but there is enough detail about the decorating itself to be useful for our purpose. The only downside is that it makes you want to sell your current house and just travel the world staying in these amazing homes! Especially tempting is the contact information at the very end in case you actually want to rent one of them on vacation...

I found this to be a wonderful book - it has some amazing pictures. It affords you the opportunity to view some beautiful private houses that you are unlikely to be able to visit. Unlike some other books that focus primarily on houses in South East Asia, this one also features some great houses in Mexico and Jamaica.

Tropical Houses takes you around the globe to find some of the most interestingly designed homes in the world. The photographs are at once detailed and lush. If you are going to buy one book on tropical interiors, this should be the one.

The financial concepts are explained very nicely. Though it is my first finance book i can go through it without much difficulty or extra help. However there are still some drawbacks need to be noticed:

1. Need more charts and graphics to explain the concepts, ie: when explaining the DU PONT System, i think the pyramid structure can be illustrated so as to state a whole concept, not only fragments

2. Too many examples

3. This book is too detailed in both relevant and irrelevant matters

Still, I think it is a good book.

If possible, please tell me the difference between this book (Fundamentals of Corporate Finance by Richard Brealey) and Principles of Corporate Finance by Brealey and Myers. I currently own the 5th edition of Principles; having worn the book down with constant thumbing, I am looking for a replacement.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I and my friends(with no business background) are studying corporate finance by ourselves using this book and all of us are very satisfied with the book so far.

The concepts are explained very clearly(even kindly) and sample tests with complete solutions are very useful. The book also has solutions for selected end-of-the chapter problems and I enjoy mini cases which help me apply the concepts to the practice in detail.

I had tried other finance books before and most of them were not clear in explaining concepts and a bit difficult for me(my major was chemistry). I think that this book is probably the easiest and the best book to begin with for starters in finance.
