At least I think it is one of a kind. It is a clever idea of presenting study skills in a way that kids enjoy. It isn't called study skills it is just about how to remember what they are trying to learn. My children love to hear the story again and again. They also have done better in school by learning about how to learn. It is a pleasant way to approach a serious subject: how to do better in school. I'm so glad the writer offers this help to children in K-3. I just haven't found much that does the job. The lesson plans in the book are original and right on target.

Someone told me about this book and how it teaches kids learning strategies. It does it with a story to get their interest. I've been using the ideas in this book and they are a big help. It can help any kid but especially one with LD. The writer has a website with free stuff that helps a lot too.

I found this book by finding a lesson plan from it listed in the Gateway to Educational Materials which is sponsored by ERIC. That is a huge educational site operated by the US Dept of Ed.
The lesson plan referred to the book which contains other great plans and hands on activities for helping kids develop motivation and memory skills. I improved some of my own memory skills from some of the ideas in this book and some of the references the author lists in the book. It also has a great story and cute song (with musical notation) that helps with motivation.

One lesson plan gives memory cues for remembering left from right. Another gives memory cues for correcting digit reversals.
Another gives help with improving vocabulary and spelling, etc.

After reading the book 'Modern Buddhist Healing' by Charles Atkins I lent it to a friend who has suffered from illness for many years and tried all sorts of therapy. She is already feeling the power of the healing recommended in the book. It is an honest, clear account of how anyone can change their lives and free themselves from disease, this is not a crank book as the method Mr Atkins uses really works. He even cites his own account of how he freed himself from a life threatening illness. It is a book to keep by your bedside and read over and over.

I recently just happened to be in a bookstore recently when Mr. Atkins was there discussing his book and experiences. I always have my "BS meter" on full alert...suffice to say that this book is not religious froo-froo or dogmatic salesmanship. The principles that he teaches here make sense for anyone and apparently work too. I'm impressed. If you buy it, Modern Buddhist Healing can change your life for the better on every level.

As a master's level clinical psychology student, I appreciate this book on several levels. I was fairly unfamiliar with Buddhism before reading this book, in part because of the anticipated complexity of the subject. To my surprise, I discovered Atkins had written a book comprehensible to those new to Buddhism. For those with a knowledge of Buddhism already, it provides much more insight into the topic. The connections to psychology and therapy are too vast to detail. As a therapist, you are simply a faciliator for the client in his quest to learn more about himself, very similarly to Buddhism. Through sharing his experience, Atkins proves the great power we each obtain through our minds and faith in healing.

Little did I know that AFTER I thought I'd never see the "light of day" concerning my finances, that this book would come into my life. It's informative, funny, well written, and just a great book for everyone. I've given it out to a couple of friends and then I thought, "Hey, GO BUY YOUR OWN!" Lee Silber is an author that makes it easy for someone, like me, that doesn't read a great deal, to flash those pages quicker than the remote on my TV. Thanks Lee! I can now go to sleep feeling like I can use your guides and NOT have to worry about what the Hell is going to take place tomorrow!

I just finished this book and it's amazing! With most books I just read it then put it away forever. With Money Management for the Creative Person I am already putting Mr. Silber's valuable advice to work. What is so great about this book is that you not only get a ton of financial advice, but inspiration to keep creating in the face of adversity. The book it packed with real life stories from himself, celebrities and real-life people. It's very motivating. I highly recommend this book even if you feel like your finances are in order and you don't need help.

Lee Silber is a flat-out genius when it comes to teaching the business side of life to artists (right-brainers) who may have a block about such key issues as money management, promotion, and career choices. For everyone who has a starving artist in your family, do them and yourself a favor and get them a copy of this book. These books are well-written, funny, entertaining, and are taught by a man who has learned how to combine practicality with great creativity. This is a must read.

This book was well written for the rookies and professionals. Authors explained the trading process from pre-trade to post-trade analysis, with added topics like impact cost and VWAP. Great explanations. A must have desknotes.

This is an excellent financial resource for the seasoned professional or enthusiastic student. The book is the first of its kind to address finance and investing from the point of view of the trader.

It widely known that improper implementation of an investment decision can negate much of a manager's anticipated alpha, but how exactly should managers examine the set of potential implementation schemes? The solution to this question is the primary focus of Optimal Trading Strategies. The authors provide a very thorough investigation of transaction costs (e.g. when, where, and why they arise) and continue with an easy-to-understand analytical process to estimate, manage, and control those costs. The authors' approach to developing these "optimal trading strategies" also turns out to be the basis for achieving "best execution." The net result to managers is higher returns. I highly recommend this reference for anyone interested in understanding all aspects of finance and investment theory, and it makes a wonderful complement to graduate level texts.

I cannot recommend this more highly, and this comes from a comlpetely unbiased review of an excellent book.

This book has a lot of topics that you see at a mathematical competition, like IMO. It has Number Theory, Geometry, Games, Combinatorics and many strategies to solve a difficult and exciting problem. I recommend this book for you.

I disagree with another reviewer(Math Messiah) who thinks this is a book only for intelligent people like himslf. The problems are wide ranging and numerous and even dumb people (me, for instance) can find fun and excitement in many of them. I also have an advice for the Math Messiah who is on brink of some major discoveries: hold on to that brink, and don't drop.

I have just started working on this book recently. I've been reading through and working on the problems in the number theory section which are excellent so far. There is a good balance between warm-up/basic training problems and hard contest problems so you won't be discouraged too easily. I have browsed through the other sections and they seem very good. Must have if you are preparing for math contests!

This book in my opinion is a very effective tool for the professional salesperson of today. The ideas in the book, when followed are a sure fire way to succeed in the ever changing highly competitive sales industry of today. Anyone interested in advancing their career or the career of other fellow sales professionals will see this book needs to be in their library for personal growth. I have and will continue to spread this book around in my circle of influence, to further the career's of my peer's.

After reading Dave Andersons' Column in "Dealer" magazine, I ordered 25 copies of his book, one for each salesperson. We listen to his tapes in weekly salesmeetings. Finally, I invited him to speak to our staff about Leadership. His books have changed our entire outlook. We are now a dealership with a vision. I just asked him to return for another 3 day session. He definitely gets us going!

i thought selling above the crowd is an excellent book. the reason i like this book is because it provide you a daily focus year round. it is bold and to the point . it is not something you read once or twice and put up on a shelf somewhere., it is a daily trainer.

I studied Spec Ops for quite a while.
But all the information I gather was not complete.
Especially those Ops for 20-30 years.

But this book really makes a difference.
Every detail of the Op that you want to know was in it.

I think this is a wonderful book for those
who want to study Spec Op Cases!!!

I found it really useful in understanding the matters combined in Special operations. The theory which is also described in the doctrine of Spec. Ops. is here illustrated and explained in a less complicated way by using case studies. These case studies are randomly but carefully chosen by size, force, time, space, backgrounds of the participants, field of expertise and the end results. This way McRaven was able to prove his 6 basic principles of Special Operations, Speed, Security, Repetion, Surprise, Speed and Purpose. Succesfull execution of a special operation does not depend on ones field of expertise. It is more dependent on preparation, plannning, physical/ mental/ strategic training and capabilities of the executing group of determand people as discribed in the 6 basics by McRaven. Therefore I recommend this book to everyone who wants to understand these principles which are practised not only by Special Forces but also by Regular Armed Forces.

This book is one of the most useful books on special operations I've ever encountered. McRaven is uniquely qualified to write this book, being both a practitioner and a student of the art. He succinctly and clearly outlines six underlying principles and how they interact with one another, as well as how they support special operations. The clear descriptions and graphs on the "area of vulnerablity" are especially insightful and allow the novice to understand when and why special operations succeed or fail. He then critques eight famous operations such as the Israeli hostage rescue at Entebbe and the U.S. raid on the Son Tay POW camp, using them to explain and illustrate how the six principles presented themselves. All in all, the BEST book on special operations I've ever read and would strongly recommend it to anyone who is a serious student of this particular type of operation, including domestic law enforcement tactical teams.

This book is like the Hall of Fame for Smart CEOs and advice. Easy read. Great little bits of inspiring insightful and valuable information. Information cuts right to the chase. Highly recommend this one!

This is a great book. There's 100 different fairly short real life stories direct from a real impressive group of CEOs. I run a department of 65 people and am floored by how much I picked up that I can use from one book. The IKEA boss has a great chapter. She seemed like a great role model. So did William Lauder and the guy who runs RCA. Some of the chapters were a bit thin, but for the most part awesome book and take home value!

Finally a book about leadership written and laid out in a way that makes an awful lot of sense. 100 smart, succesful CEOs tell you in their own voice their greatest leadership secret and a story or two about it. 5 minutes a chapter. He's got some big names like the current Secretary of Commerce, Lauder,
Ferragamo, and a bunch more. But more interesting are some of the highly successful entrepreneurs and CEOs you would not be familiar with, but are with their companies.This is a find. It's like crib notes for any manager.Tough part seems to be the find. Either it's already sold out everywhere or isn't anywhere?

I enjoyed reading this book and it was very helpful. They did a good job of breaking the book up into sections and you can just read the areas that are most important to you at the time and the others at a later time. I enjoyed reading this book and will refer to it time and time again.

I found the book dynamic, self-motivating, encouraging and the profiles interesting. The book helped me to sitdown and really take a hard look at my life in terms of career and interests. I felt like I could take a chance and do anything I choose to do. Thanks Ms. nivens for a stimulating book that should be read my everyone searching and trying to decide their career paths. This book have made me stay focus on my goal to become a publish writer. I carry this book wherever I go. I make sure I introduce it to anyone who come across my path. The book is great. It's a blessing to have it as a part of my home library.

For everyone who has ever struggled with some of the hidden battles of singlehood I would highly recommend this book. It is very straightforward and honest in the emotions that it brings to the mind of its reader. I found that the authors were very vunerable in sharing thier own experiences as singles. The book is balanced in that it deals with emotional challenges as well as looking into some deeper psychological explanations as to why some people may be having a hard time finding contentment as individuals. I really enjoyed the variety of methods/excerises used to help guide the reader into deeper understanding of the various topics presented. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is single especially Christians singles.

I encourage any women who's going through a tough battle as a single to read this book! This book is easy to read and very engaging. There are practical activities to help you work through difficult issues in your life. You benefit from taking the time to do them because they help you explore who you currently are and helps you embrace the person the Lord as called you to be! And the best part of it all is that it is grounded in scripture!

This is not just another book about how to get and keep a man, but rather this book takes you to a deeper level of self understanding, and more importantly understanding God. By reading this book you'll be inspired to seek first the kingdom of God and after that you'll enjoy the blessings he bestows upon you!

This book was such a blessing to me.... It was pratical and gave many scenerios, insights and examples of how to have victory in your singleness. What I enjoyed most about this book is that it used many biblical principles and it was easy to read! I highly recommend this book to anyone that is searching for that inner peace and need directions as to how to walk in your singleness. Thank you Valerie and Jermone for allowing God to use you!!!
