A must for Users and Providers
Bierma and Waterstraat have very accurately described a proven outsourcing process to reduce both chemical usage and chemical costs. The book is excellent for newcomers looking to use chemical management as a tool to reduce usage and costs but has enough information for those that are using chemical management to improve their programs. At any level the book offers "practical and proven" examples to illustrate implementation and documented the results. The authors have cleverly descibed the total life cycle costs associated with chemical use and why it make both economical and environmental sense to implement chemical management. If you are a user of chemicals or a supplier of chemicals this book challenges you to look outside of traditional buy/sell relationships and move towards outsourced chemical management. This book sets the stage for a rapidly growing industry that is no longer a trend but a very effective management discipline. It's a must for users and providers of chemicals.

Greatest repertoire book I have ever seen
This book by Kaufman is the best repertoire book I have seen. It provides a comprehensive repertoire for white and black. It makes its points though illustrative games, but there are wonderful strategic explanations too. This is a rare and wonderful book, that is packed with great chess openeing stuff!

First-rate guide to second-best repertoire
Kaufman's approach in this repertoire book is to recommend strategically sound variations for white and black that have a GM following, perform better than par in practice but which are not the first choices of theory. The rationale for his choices outlined in the Introduction is very compelling and far superior to Berliner's "System" (with its axes to grind) and Shereshevsky's 'Conveyor' repertoire (which was designed for Soviet-era kids with a chance of becoming greats as opposed to plateauing club players like me). Kaufman quotes over 200 recent games or game fragments by 2400+ players using succinct but clear annotations. He favors Silman-esque evaluations in terms of the significant positional features over plus/equals signs, so this is incidentally a good middlegame strategy manual. (The role of the 2 bishops is particularly stressed.) My only regret is that I can't keep the repertoire to myself, as everyone will start playing these lines. -- Oh, and those are: for White, Spanish Exchange, Sicilian Bb5, French Tarrasch, C-K Advance, etc.; and as Black, Spanish Berlin, QGD Semi-Slav (Moscow, not Botvinnik, and a positional Bd6 defense to the Meran). A final and interesting point: the recommendations are validated with but not dominated by computer-checked analysis. As an expert in computer chess, Kaufman is uniquely well qualified to provide this kind of human-machine symbiotic analysis. Even if you don't like the sound of some of these lines, give it a chance: The book is a labor of love, not a "Win as White/Black with..." potboiler.

An excellent book on a niche market
The book provides excellent analysis of several Chinese industries. As a CTO of a software development company I found the sections regarding Chinese e-Commerce and web sites trends insightful. The author covers the dot com effects on Chinese computer consumption and its impact on US markets. I strongly recommend this book to anyone looking to gain a well researched (and well written) perspective on Chinese businesses and behavior.

The Chinese Opening, The Sure-Win Strategy

a direction of play
This book introduced me to studying fuseki.

I liked it at that time because I could use some of the ideas in a fuseki I could understand, that would be somewhat flexible and keep things simple. After that I've got more interested in studying fuseki.

It's not a dictionary, and is not worth "memorizing". It is interesting to see how each stone develops the game in a given direction.

When I read it I was about IGS 9k*

Essential book for kuy players
In this book Kato Masao analizes in detail the Chinese fuseki. This is the first fuseki I've learned: the basic ideas are quite easy to grasp and it allows Black to make a vast zone of influence that White will have to invade, creating a fight where Black can take the advantage. There are few josekis in this book but they are analized in depth - something more useful and interesting than an overview of lots of josekis.

Understanding
Thomas Cleary has done us a great service by translating and/or collecting these works. He is a man of understanding and insight and these three volumes will threaten to make any reader who takes them seriously the same.

Any person who deals with anybody in any way should endeavor to grasp these fine works of wisdom. Not to do so is a mistake. As Confucius said, "If a mistake is not corrected, that is called a mistake."

Great reading for anybody interested in leadership
Anyone interested in learning about leadership should go back to the classics. Clearly has done a great job putting together a collection of the most influencial eastern classics in three volumes. The five classics included in this volume present crucial aspects of human development and empowerment. The most insighful readings in my opinion are thunder in the Sky and The Book of the Five Rings. The first one talks about the skills and behavior of succesful leaders, while the second one deals with the art of confrontation and victory. Clearly's comments are very good in providing insights about the reading. My last recommendation is to start with the first volume: The Art of War by Sun Tzu.

Academic study of vital concepts
This is a British contribution to the field. It is discerning and scholarly. Different concepts are clearly distinguished and defined. The authors have critically assessed the literature of diverse models of cognitive styles and only accept two basic dimensions --the wholistic-analytic (tendency to organise information into wholes or parts) and the verbal-imagery (tendency to represent information verbally or in mental pictures). Cognitive style is an independent construct or psychological notion, not related to intelligence, personality and gender. It is an important component of individual differences. It is related to a range of behaviours, including learning performance, social responses and occupational stress. Style (fairly fixed with probable physiological basis) is also distinct from learning strategy (can be learned). Riding and Cheema (1991) have developed a computer-based assessment tool, Cognitive Styles Analysis (CSA). Riding also has a booklet on Personal Style Aswareness (PSA) for personal development. All the representative learning style models associated with a learning-centred tradition are also evaluated. Part II elaborates on the relationship of style with behaviour. This is an academic book valuable for understanding the concepts. It is not immediately useful for teachers.

It' s a SPECÝAL book for educators and stuents.
I think all of the students and educators must read this book. Because of learning strategies are very important in learning process. And want to know that "How we learn ?". The answers are here...

Commandos Behind Enemy Lines: Prima's Official Strategy Guide
Published in Paperback by Prima Lifestyles (August, 1998)
Author: Michael Knight
Amazon base price: $19.99
Used price: $0.90

Commandos is a great game of special operations warfare set in World War II. The game is mostly action, with just a hint of strategy--but rest assured, you'll need some strategy tips to keep your six commandos alive through all 20 missions. This excellent guide from Prima starts you off with a section that explains how to control your troops during a mission and how to spot the various types of enemies you're likely to run into. You'll then get an extensive bio of each of the commandos, with information on their special skills and equipment. From that point on, the book dives into a series of walkthroughs that will take you through the entire game, from basic training right through the three campaigns. At the end of the guide, you'll find a lengthy chapter on multiplayer Commandos and how to apply your covert combat tactics to real, live opponents. --Michael Ryan

Great help
I played the first fifteen mission of the Behind enemy lines, till I bought Men of Courage, so I am evaluating the tips from this book till the Mission 15.
First there is a brief introduction about the mission, and dividing them into phases, with little history.
There are a lot of detailed pictures, with soldiers numbered in the best order you should take care of them. The text is detailed, full with helpful advices and cautions, especially about tricky points in the mission (where you must hide the bodies, unseen patrolling guards, time limits). Also information about liberating allies, or using barrel, which it took me long time to figure out had I did not use this manual. You do not have to follow all the tips exactly, use your imagination and feel the challenge of "straddling in the combat filed". I did that in Mission 5 and 13.
It is a great help, and without the missions will take longtime to accomplish, so use and enjoy the Commandos.

ROCK'S
IT WAS VERY GOOD IT HELP'D A LOT

Communities of Commerce: Building Internet Business Communities to Accelerate Growth, Minimize Risk, and Increase Customer Loyalty

Connect and collaborate--in our Internet age, these two words have taken on a whole new meaning. What they refer to and describe, the essence of community, is the much-discussed and increasingly important subject that authors Stacey Bressler and Charles Grantham explore in Communities of Commerce.

Beginning with a look at the importance of community in our lives, Bressler and Grantham examine what the notion has come to mean. They compare today's exploding pace of change with the revolution in knowledge exchange that stemmed from Gutenberg's invention of the printing press in the mid-15th century. More than simply enabling information to be shared by a greater number of people, the printing press led, ultimately, to a change in how humankind viewed itself. Even more profoundly (and much more rapidly), the Internet has not only expanded our ability to connect with each other, it has entirely transformed our notions of time, space, relationships, and community. Believing the "primary benefit of the Internet is that it gives people the ability to connect and be more closely related to others who share their purpose," the authors illustrate how companies can most effectively relate this benefit to their business models. They discuss the factors that are driving and pulling businesses toward online communities of commerce, as well as the transformation this requires, and provide practical guidance on how to build and sustain effective communities. If organized better, this book could have been shorter and more hard-hitting; however, the authors have done a good job in using interesting (and refreshingly uncommon) case studies to demonstrate the practical importance of an otherwise nebulous concept. --S. Ketchum

Communities of Commerce spells success!
I couldn't put Communities of Commerce down and read it in one day! For business owners and others, it captures great concepts and examples of what some businesses are doing to create a powerful network for their business and non-profit communities.

Although outwardly, the style of writing looks academically-oriented, the authors engage the reader by explaining the concept as though a movie is being created. Once I got into the rhythm of the book, it was a breeze, and each chapter opened new insights.

With my writing tablet quickly filling up with notes, I appreciated the case studies, tips, and checklist at the end of each chapter. This allowed me to immediately evaluate whether my company is appropriate to pursue the "Communities of Commerce" approach.

From history to steps to take, the entire book is a gold-mine for business (and community) leaders who want to take their companies into successful Internet avenues.

I also appreciated the web listing of the various companies involved. I recommend Communities of Commerce to all serious business and community leaders.

Hits the mark
This is exactly the type of timely work that will help us in our own Silicon Valley venture. Well done, and thanks!

Competitive Positioning the key to market success
This a powerful tool for any one wanting to create and sustain a superior position in the marketplace. Models throughout the book outline marketing dynamics and strategies.
Besides strategic market planning and competitive market analysis, market segmentation and portfolio planning are covered in depth. This is an excellent battlefield manual for the marketplace. Marketing positions are analysed from many angles while strengths and weaknesses of the various models are covered.

Marketing Strategy & Competitive Positioning
An excellent book for those who are preparing for an examination in Marketing and for those who are in the Marketing Profession.

This book contains the most up to date contemporary thinking on marketing and surely has redefined what marketing really is. After reading this book, I suddenly realise that I knew so little about what marketing is all about all these while.

Wells is amazing
Peter Wells is my favorite openings author. I can think of no one else who combines thoroughness, explanatory text, complete games, and relevant variations so well. Even in the densest theoretical parts of the complexities of the semi-slav, Wells retains the subject matter as a comprehendbale discussion or lecture. Never, is this merely a dry text or data dump. His ebooks are always long, too; he never skimps or hurries to finish a work; you will find the same thoroughness at page 300 as page 15. He emphasizes recurrent themes, but this is no beginner text. This is one of my favorite books, and it should be sought after and obtained by any 1. d4 player or black semi-slav player, because, despite the fact that is nine years old, it is an ageless and wonderful book.

Awesome book, massive content
This is another great openings work by Wells. I have used this in conjunction with the Semi-Slav book by Sadler. This book is more of an eopic treatise, and Sadler's has more of the conversational tone. Not to say that this book is dry though. This book combines the "tree" type variations analysis with complete games, providing, in my opinion, the best type of opening work. This is a must-have for Semi-Slav fans. I had little clue before getting this book exactly how wild and agrressive the semi-slav is. I love it!
