This entertaining and well-written book should have a large audience, as a huge percentage of chess players play king's indian systems all the time with black. This book pretty much describes everything white will throw at you (other than most traditional king's indian lines), including Torre Attacks, Trompowskys, Veresovs, Averbakh, Four Pawns (those last two are the only regular king's indian lines given), Barry Attack, London System, Blackmar-Diemer, and others. The book has lots of explanatory text and twenty-nine annotated games flesh out the main ideas. It is a repertoire book, meaning that the book focuses on recommended lines for black. Burgess' writing is, as always, clear, entertaining, instructive, and witty. The Batsford production is excellent. A fine chess book.

I love both sides of the King's Indian, and nothing frustrates me more than to have white avoid it with some offbeat system, such as the Torre or London. This book does an outstanding job of showing black how to handle these offbeat openings (which are showing up more and more often in tournament play).

Anyone who does not stay on the main line as white against the Sicilian deserves to be punished, and this is the book that will show you how to do just that. Black is assured an advantage against c3, Nc3, and even f4 systems, but you have to know how to do it. Its not the greatest opening book I've read, but its the best for anti-sicilian systems. Everything you need is right here, but since its out of print, you better get it while you still can. If a publisher is reading this, how about coming out with a second edition?

This book is a must for anyone who wishes to use the Sicilian as a weapon against e4. I play the Najdorf and Dragon variations of the Sicilian as black and I get annoyed when my opponent cops out of an open Sicilian with Anti-Sicilian moves such as 2.c3 or 2.Nc3. This book by Joe Gallagher is the answer to such weak cop outs! The book is written by a leading expert on the Sicilian and certainly makes the player with the white pieces suffer. Buy this book and white will never have a chance!

Easy to read, most enjoyable, easy to implement. I realise now, how little I really knew.

This book offers very practical structure to help you organize your prayer life. You can pray more deeply ina focused way for longer periods of time. It's a must read for all Disciples!!!

Explains notation; how the pieces move; and illustrates in two games the concepts of proper development, combined with the importance of the center. All in easy to understand language! Great for the true beginner!

This is a good first book. To be good at anything requires time,money, effort. This book condenses a solid beginning to about $7. Not bad! I'm rated at about 1460 and I find the reading easy, fast, clear and accurate! I recommend this as a first book. If you know how the pieces move, try a chess club, it doesn't cost anything and you might make a friend. If it's Bill Robertie, you hit the lottery.

While I don't underestimate what Tova has to say, let's face it: no man would dump a gorgeous babe like her! My wife, however, enjoyed the book.

My husband and I will be married a whole year next month! September 12th. I bought this book a couple of months ago, and it is really insiteful! I hit the jackpot when I found this book on the New Shelf at my local library. What a treasure! Once I started this book, it was very difficult to put down. Emily Watts had me from the first page with her humor, honesty and down-to-earth wisdom. I couldn't help wishing that she was my neighbor, mother-in-law or co-worker. This book is a real pick-me-up for anyone drowning in the responsibility, effort and amazing amount of laundry that comes with motherhood. You'll find yourself laughing out loud as she describes struggling over homemade drum-shaped cookies for her child's preschool class only to realize that they would have been just as pleased with a Ho Ho and some licorice sticks.Later you'll be touched as she describes the moments to remember from each stage of childhood. This book is alive with spirituality, common sense and truly useful advice from someone who's been there.

Unlike many child rearing books this one is real. No perfect kids, no perfect parents but a lot of great times to be enjoyed as a mother. Many of the suggestions in this book are things you will learn after you've had several children and tried to do it all really well. If you can learn them now you will enjoy the journey of motherhood so much more. Emily Watts is honest, frank, and funny and will help to give you perspective for those days you just want to scream, cry, and hide under a blanket. It's a quick pick me up and it does have some great stories and ideas. The best part is, it is written by a woman who despite the frustrations of parenting, and sometimes because of them, really enjoys being the mom and wants you to enjoy being the mom too.

A GREAT GUIDE! If you get stuck, this book will get you through the game. The maps are awsome. Love the chapter quick run throughs and the indepth details of each sub-quest. The cheat code is a good tool to help out someone who has painted themself into a corner. Its too bad this game can't run on WIN '98. The sequal Return to Krondor works on WIN '98 but isn't as much fun.

Raymond E. Feist makes a triumphant return to the world of the Riftwar in this book adaptation of the best-selling PC game Betrayal at Krondor. The plot centers around a coming invasion of Moredhel from the north and the quests of James , Locklear , Pug , Owyn , a dropout from Stardock , Gorath , a renegade Moredhel chieftan . and Patrus , the addle brained wizard from Northwarden. It is a classic talke in its own day , and is a satisfying read.

Beyond Cellulite is a brilliant book which mainly focuses on a new way of life rather than a get healthy quick routine. It covers everthing from diet and excersise to mental health. If you feel yourself slacking, read a couple of chapters and you will be back on track. I followed it when I was pregnant. As a result I had a wonderful pregnancy, a better figure and no cellulite after my baby was born. Unfortunately, I lent the book to a friend who never returned it. Hence visiting this site for another copy. Good Luck!

Nicole Ronsard has presented everything you need in "laymans' terms to understand your body and it's reaction to everything you do and consume. Very Simply stated, and very easily understood as well as GREAT reading! This book beats all others about the Practice of HEALTH and how easy it is.

This book is the best of a series of "the big book of.." by David E. Carter.
With its hefty selection of works to see and be inspired from, With clear sections and a selectiveness uncharacteristical of carter, this book can be used over and over again, and you can always find something new in it.
It is also of great value. If Graphis ( a high-end graphic design publisher) was to publish such a volume, you can bet the price will be over a hundred dollars.
In short, every designer needs this book.

This book's title is honest: it is really BIG. The Book is filled with full color contemporary samples of world's best graphic identity programs. The design projects showcased here are not only a huge source of inspiration, but a smart reference of how things are done in the real world of visual communication. The book shows all identity categories: from logos to brochures; from fleet graphics to outdoors; from annual reports to business cards. This publication is a must-have piece of work.

"Bishop v Knight: The Verdict" is an excellent book for intermediate level players. I am amazed at how different I look at the minor pieces now compared to how I looked at them before I ever cracked open the book. Definitely a recommendation for those that intend to take chess seriously, and that hope to reach expert or master level. Before reading this book, I always said "Bishops are always better than knights" and yet someone else I know, who hasn't read the book, always thought, and still thinks, that knights are always better for him. Today, I beat him at least 90% of the time because this book has really helped me manage my minor pieces better. Also, when given the choice to trade a knight or bishop away for a minor piece of his, I make the better decision more often now than I did before reading the book. Anyone who has even the slightest bit of trouble managing their minor pieces, either in a middlegame, an endgame, or both, needs to get this book. I can't say there is another book of it's type.

I can't recall a chess book that I've found so instructive (okay, maybe Dvoretsky) and funny (well...Soltis might have him beat). Mayer takes on all the authorites...Steinitz, Chigorin, Tarrasch, Botvinnik, etc. Sometimes he agrees, sometimes he disagrees, but he always left me seeing things in a new way. And his command of the nuances of strategy and tactics is incredible...I don't know why he isn't a Grandmaster, because he sure writes better than 99.9% of them. Maybe it's time that we gave him a special award for "hardest working man in chess"! Okay, I guess Nunn beats him in that department, but still, this book is a blast and I give it my highest rating...you *will* learn boatloads from it and have a great time while you do it!
