The Internationalists gathers business strategies for globalization, addressing several challenges faced by globalizing corporations and considering how a business can expand internationally. This defines internationalists as a distinct profession, providing a strategy for identifying them and understanding business functions beyond borders. Business managers and students will relish the approach.

A globalized world can often feel murky. "The Internationalist" brings clarity by explaining who an internatinalist is and what such an unorthodox career can offer. The book is important reading for professionals currently engaged in the field and for neophytes wishing to enter it.

I am writing this book review as a practitioning internationalist for 12 years and a current executive trainer & coach in the field of International Leadership Development.

The Internationalists is an excellent guidebook for Human Resource, Organizational Development, and Training & Development professionals, as well as, current and future internationalists.

Internationalist is a distinct career with unique skill sets, competencies and acumen which are prerequesites, in addition to functional expertise such as marketing, sales, or finance, for anyone being developed or selected for an international assignment.

Traditional human resource, organizational development and business education in the USA have not addressed, until very recently, the dinstinct role performed by an Internationalist.

Catherine Scherer provides a succinct, concise and practical guidebook concerning the successful selection and development of an Internationalist, based upon real world experiences of practicing internationalists. This book belongs in the core curriculum of business, human resource and organizational development educational programs, as well as, on the desks (not bookshelves) of managers and executives working in the global world of business.

The proactive, strategic approach of this book is right on target and explains why so many organizations are unsuccessful in the recruitment, development and support of employees on international assignments. More important, the book provides an effective, proactive framework for "learning from experience" of practicing internationlists.

Those individuals interested in expanding their perspective and return on investment related to Intellectual Capital and Global Human Resource Managment, will find The Internationlists to be a wise short-term investment, which will contribute long-term yields.

Investing Under Fire is a very interesting collection of essays by 30 luminaries from various fields, some of them not at all related to investing. Each selection contains at least a thought or two to repay the effort of perusal, and that's a great deal more than many books deliver, especially books about investing. The anthology's five segments cover mutual funds, key sectors - from Asia to precious metals, research and legal resources, innovative companies and geopolitical influences. Anyone who merely reads the first selection, by Vanguard founder John Bogle, and applies its lessons, would more than recapture the purchase price of the book. Despite the sometimes self-promotional comments from a few of the other contributors, it's a very valuable book. If nothing else, we note, it will expose you to a spectrum of diverse opinions, a useful prophylactic against complacency.

Edited by global market strategist and foreign affairs expert Alan R. Ackerman, Investing Under Fire: Winning Strategies From The Masters For Bulls, Bears, And The Bewildered authoritatively presents expert testimony from financial experts concerning the hazards and opportunities awaiting investors in the constantly changing present and future. From biotech; to the Chinese market; to available legal recourses; to examples of what investors should look for when reading between the lines of an annual report, Investing Under Fire is an especially recommended "inside scoop" of thoughtful extrapolations and solidly practical advice for those who are somewhat experienced with investing, yet are seeking to learn more of the increasingly complex and volatile financial and global markets.

This is a great book. A must for anyone who wants to understand the current state of the U.S. economy and the global economy. I have seen Alan Ackerman on T.V. a few times and always enjoyed his advice.

The book is well done and the roster of contributors is very impressive. I cannot recall a book that had such a wide and important variety of industry leaders and analysts.

There were so many interesting and important points that it is difficult to mention them all. In short, the book is cautiously optimistic and is a must have for anyone who wants to be prepared for the future.

I bought this book almost 10 years ago. Let's face it: Most men are not born "Iron Man". It's something that takes years to develop. Even the author himself says that one doesn't truly become an "Iron Man" until he's in his 30s or 40s. I have to agree. It's a process. It's a shift from being a slob, which is the opposite of what an "Iron Man" is, to being a self-respecting heterosexual male, which is exactly what an "Iron Man" is.

I bought this book a few years ago from the author, Eric Weber's company Symphony Press. It's not only about picking up women it's about becoming the kind of man women cant resist. A lady friend of mine saw the book and was looking it over, I thought she would be upset I owned a book that talks about being in control and not letting a women tell you what to do ever, but instead she said it was a really good book and wished all guys acted the way the book suggests. When a book about women gets high praise from a women, you know it must be good.

Going against the grain of what he normally teaches, Eric Weber has turned to the strong, dominant man for this excellent book. I'm a rather shy guy who sometimes struggles to maintain my poise around women, let alone even approaching them. But this book showed me that the strong personality that some men have is exactly what women look for: a guy who can make a split-second decision, doesn't do everything the girl wants, and shows how being totally servile to women will get you no where. Sure, women love nice guys, but no one has ever said an ironman ain't a nice guy. Definitely recommend, and more so for the guys who have been in the same situation as myself.

Timothy Casey, a senior VP for MCI WorldCom, transmits executive-quality knowledge in "ISP Liability Survival Guide" for a panhandler-level price. Despite the fact that he is what we techies would probably call a "suit," his writing is relaxed, anecdotal, and even humorous. But don't let his conversational writing style fool you; he is a MAJOR player in this industry. As a corporate executive and quasi-ambassador, Casey is a kind of Internet lobbyist. He has been immersed in virtually every state, federal, and international regulatory craze, preventing the regulators from turning the Internet as we know it into one great big cluster... (I hope I'm not the only one who still uses that phrase from Clint Eastwood's 'Heartbreak Ridge.') After reading the book, it kind of amazed me that he would disclose as much useful information as he does for the relatively small cost of this book. Other prominent Internet-lawyers-turned-writers charge literally five times as much, and you get less useful stuff and more legal jargon. And even if you enjoy being ripped off, no one has written a book of this type yet! Casey covers every aspect of Internet law that affects ISPs and similarly-situated e-businesses and customers. If anyone has read about the richness vs. reach debate (Evans and Worster, "Blown to Bits"), you will know what I mean when I swear that the info in this book is extremely rich. I love this book, and it still amazes me that in an industry where information is our chief commodity, Casey is giving away so much rich knowledge, practically for peanuts.

ISP Liability Survival Guide written by Timothy Casey is an excellent guide for ISP's to follow in order to run an effective service and remain within established industry standards of practice and the law. This book will help ISP's to sort through all the existing laws, regulations, policies, and issues and help them to determine which ones apply to them and how applicable ones should be enforced through their services.

This book provides an excellent treatment of handling intellectual property issues. Trademark, copyright, patent, and domain name issues are big today. ISP's will receive a mini-course in dealing with them. What is a trademark? What is a copyright? What is fair use? What constitutes infringement? What are the implications of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA)? What is the ISP's liability? How does an ISP respond to a complaint? It's all covered here. ISP's will appreciate the advice on handling reported incidents of alleged infringement.

ISP's face a number of other serious threats to their services. Some of these are caused by the conduct of their own clients and sometimes through the efforts of outside parties looking for ways of expanding their reach. ISP's must keep up on gambling, pornography, spamming, spoofing, cookies, fraud, defamation, libel, and child privacy issues. This book will educate ISP's about these troublesome issues and provide them with strict guidelines that will keep them operating on the strait and narrow.

ISP's receive advice and instruction on other matters such as planning, establishing, and enforcing policies and terms of service. They will also benefit from the number of actual case studies that reveal how various laws, regulations, policies, and court decisions have clear implications on how they should conduct their own services. This is must reading for any ISP and company who wants to do things right!

Author Tobias guides the reader through that awful experience of losing a job. Employees sometimes need to know what there rights are, and this book helps. Useful for me as I negotiated severance and letters of recommendation...something that my employer really didn't want to do.

This book is excellent. A great help for those who have recently been fired from a job or who are expecting to get the axe. I especially felt that the chapters on negotiating a separation package were useful.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is having problems at work

I have read a lot of bass books and this one is top-notch. Kevin explains matters in a clear and concise fashion and I benefited greatly from his tips & techniques - a must read.

This book sheds light on the real life of a professional bass angler. Kevin Vandam lets you into his world for a brief moment. He talks about mental strategies for changing conditions, and various confidence related issues. The book is very well written and informative. The ideas are a mixture of old school practices, and new scientific based therories. Hey, if you don't read it the next guy probably will!

Informative and successful tactics used in the art of bass fishing. Kevin VanDam covers it all from tackle to technique, bad weather to muddy water. He also covers the mental aspect of the sport. Whether your a budding angler or seasoned professional, this book contains information that will broaden your knowledge of bass fishing. Kevin puts you in the boat with him, teaching you his tried and true tactics that have made him a great success on the tournament trail. Down to earth information which can be easily comprehended and utilized to the readers greatest advantage. Although the information he puts forth has won him his share of awards, he doesn't force feed it. His proven strategies are there for the taking and he leaves it up to the reader to find out what works best for them. This book shows that his youthful excuberance goes beyond the lake and the largemouth, it can also be found in his writing!

This was an extremely helpful book. Two other launching moms and I had a support group where we read and discussed the incidents in our senior daughters lives and the material in the book. It made me feel less like a failure and more like a great mom. Very uplifting, humorous and helpful. I am giving a copy to our college counselor at the high school to recommend for parents. Great read.

Jennifer Wyatt is the greatest EVER! She is the coolest mom and has raised the most fabulous children ever. I have yet to read her newest book but I'm anxious to begin it. Just knowing her as a person, I'm know this book will be a HUGE success! CONGRATULATIONS :-)

As the parent of a high school senior, I appreciated this book enormously. The authors provide specific, practical advice and suggestions for how to cope with the avalanche of changes that accompany the "launch" of a child into adulthood. Lots of examples, including some that may make readers think, "At least I don't have that challenge!" I recommend this book highly to anyone who parents a teen. I plan to keep my copy within easy reach.

There is a dearth of leadership literature aimed at the non-profit and public sectors. Leaders Who Make a Difference by Nanus and Dobbs helps to fill that void. It is a very valuable leadership guide and reference book for leaders in the non-profit sector. Their synthesis of the leadership literature and their emphasis on shared vision, strategy, and team building with tools and guides is very valuable to students of leadership as well as current mangers who are enhancing their leadership skills. The roles of a leader that are emphasized - visionary, strategist, change agent, coach, politician, and campaigner - are useful reminders to leaders in all sectors about the importance and complexity of leading well with a full set of skills. This book is being used in the curriculum of an International Family Planning Leadership Program with great success - so it has global relevance and appeal. Our fellows have found the book to be full of tips and tools that serve to validate the skills that they already have as well as guide them to devleop more facets of their leadership. I highly recommend this book to leadership development programs and practitioners in the non-profit and public sectors.

The Nanus and Dobbs theory section enabled me and the students to put these management issues into perspective and to identify the critical role of leadership. Next spring, I plan to use the Nanus-Dobbs book as one of my assigned texts and to enlarge on the course treatment of leadership issues. I suggest that other academics consider a similar use.

I also expect that "Leaders Who Make a Difference" would be an effective and appealing aid in the recruitment and training of NPO board members. It offers a keen overview of the leadership roles the board can play; in addition it makes that role realistic, appealing and challenging.

This book is a fantastic compendium of essays on leadership, specifically as it applies to the military experience. Chris Kolenda compiles a list of some of the most talented senior and junior leaders today, both in and out of uniform, as well as renowned historians. The vast majority of the authors taught at the U.S. Military Academy during some point in their career, ranging from the Departments of History, Social Sciences, and Behavioral Sciences & Leadership, to the Department of Physical Education.

The book is comprised of three major sections, 1) Ancient and Modern Concepts of Leadership, 2) Historical Case Studies, and 3) Contemporary Experiences and Reflections on Leadership, with author biographies, endnotes and index at the back. General (Retired) Barry McCaffrey wrote the foreword, while Lieutenant General (Retired) Walter Ulmer wrote the Introduction. The authors consist of such leaders as LTG Daniel Christman, former Superintendent of West Point, General (Retired) Gordon Sullivan, former Chief of Staff of the Army, and Professor Frederick Kagan, just to name a few.

This work contains a tremendous selection of thoughts and experiences on the art of leading soldiers. I will keep it on my shelf to refer to time and time again. As the editor writes in the preface, "developing the vibrant intellectual core from which a leader can draw insight into the art of leadership requires the courage and humility to immerse oneself in the ideas and experiences of others." Leadership: The Warrior's Art acts as a tremendous vehicle toward achieving that end.

Highly recommended for the military professional!

Chris Kolenda has put together a fantastic study of leadership that kept the cap off of my highlighter. "The Warrior's Art" gives the most in depth and comprehensive look at leadership that I've seen. If you want to lead and not just manage, you MUST HAVE THIS BOOK.

The book encapsulates the leadership studies of the great philosophers to allow the reader to rediscover the foundations of leadership. These insights are priceless and allow the true student of leadership (private sector or military) to see through the clutter of modern philosophies into what a leader really needs to do to make an organization or team work. Some of the most accomplished leaders in America follow with studies that give further historical insight and a look into the future. It is important to note that there are no step by step instructions and Chris and the other incredible authors allow you to evaluate the lessons and how you can apply them on your own.

A remarkable collection of contributions by highly-qualified practioneers. For those wishing not just to understand the challenges of leading soldiers in ground combat but also to understand contemporary issues of rebuilding the US Army after VietNam, this book is a must.
The authors are important rebuilders explaining what, how and why. Other authors are those now creating the future Army. Yet others are excellent historians.
Simply the best leadership collection I have seen - bar none.
