Great Book!!
If you're feeling down about life then this is the book you should turn to for inspiration and motivation. I stumbled on this book in a library and just couldn't put it down. Jim's philosophy for achieving success are excellent, and I try to live them everyday of my life. Of all the books I've read, none has had a greater impact on my life than this one. I highly recommend this book if you want to change your life for the better.

This is a great book to track down if you can find it
Even though this book was written in 1986, I found pages and pages of wonderful ideas, that I am going to start working on today!

This is a great book to have in your collection.

Straight to the point - why anyone gets up in the morning.
A very readable and confronting book. My daughter is just starting out in the world of finance. I must get her to read this whilst she is still 23. Out of print now - lent to me by a friend who is starting a new career at 50 - it is never too late to confront yourself with real goals.

For any manager who wants to be a great coach
As a professional personal coach who works one-on-one to help others reach greater success, I really appreciate the approach of this book. "Smart Questions" is for anyone who doesn't realize that good coaching isn't about advising. This book shows you why asking the right question is much more powerful than giving an answer or advice, especially advice that someone isn't necessarily looking for. The essence of great coaching is all about asking smart questions. The best answers almost always come from whomever you're helping, not you.

This is the smart choice in this category!
The 'smart question' to ask is "Why am I looking at these types of books?" If the answer is to improve your ability to get more out of your meetings, interviews, negotiations, and communications with everyone at any level (internal and external to your organization), this is the book to buy by far. I've read many self-help communications books and this one really gets to the heart of the matter -- ask and you shall receive; ask the right question(s) and you'll get what you want/deserve. It was an easy and enjoyable read that gets you engaged from the first chapter (unlike so many other books that take 5 chapters to explain what they're to accomplish). The quizzes really provide helpful and immediate feedback. You can read from cover to cover or use as a reference. Either way, this book gives you tools to use right away. You'll carry this one around with you until you've mastered the technique.

You won't be disappointed (as I have with so many other books of this kind). This one is a winner, hands down!

One of the BEST communication tools!
Dorothy Leeds skillfully addresses the problem that we all seem to have in communication---asking the right question. She takes you through asking yourself what it is you're trying to achieve, and then helps you think about how to formulate an effective "query" to receive your answer. She says (and I agree) that next to the effective use of silence, asking 'smart questions' is the second most powerful communication tool that there is. Anyone who wishes to communicate effectively and powerfully should own a copy of this book, keep it close by, and study its depth. HIGHLY recommended for those in the Health Sciences field.

A solid Intermediate-wanting-to-win-at-Diety-Level book...
This is a fairly good book, but is rather thin for the price. It seems targeted to the Intermediate Civ2 player -- anyone who is looking to refing winning high-level play strategy will find it rather redundant.

However, if you are struggling at King or Emperor level, this book will help you. It's targeted to building a sound empire, then winning (albiet sloppily) at Emperor and Diety levels; however, it will not help with most of the more subtle play at those levels (e.g., getting your score from 3,000 to 15,000 by 1850 AD, etc.).

This book does discuss solid fundamentals, how to deal with unhappiness, how to start a strong empire, etc. It does not cover things such as the OCC (one city challenge), getting your top Diety score above 20,000, and the game's more subtle idiosyncracies (max advances, the food caravan 'trick', cheapest way to rush build, etc.).

The cutting edge strategies still reside on the Internet, or maybe you'll discover them during extended gameplay.

PS, If you still seek a challenge, take the OCC (though this book does not help). OCC game rules are simple: you are only allowed ONE--that's right--ONE city, no cheating, no takebacks (unless a hut gives you a city); game setup: Diety level, small world, 7 civs, raging hordes. Your single city against the world... Top players can LAND a spaceship by 1900 AD, and the best have done it before 1850... Questions? My email is civII@bigfoot.com

Excellent guide with real strategy
Unlike most so-called strategy guides, which are really rehashes of the game manual, Rymaszewski's book outlines a legitimate strategy which players of CivII can use to succeed at the game on its hardest settings (Emperor and Deity).

The author knows his book is different; he recommends that the most effective way to use it is to simply "read it, and then play the game again". In other words, _Advanced Strategies_ is not a step-by-step walkthrough, nor is it a comprehensive references source full of charts and tables. Instead, it is an outline of a new way of thinking about the game.

I recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with CivII. While Rymaszewski's advice cannot compete with the level of detail available on some CivII-related Web sites, his clear writing style and no-nonsense approach to the game make _Advanced Strategies_ well worth its list price.

Sand Pirates pulls you in to the story and won't let you go.
Sand Pirates is not only a romance, it's a breezy mix of suspense, mystery and thrills beyond ones wildest dreams. It takes you far away to a land of fantasy. I was intrigued by the characters that were well developed and interesting. The story moves fast and keeps the blood pumping. The twist and turns of the plot and the island of Sava made me feel as if I were there.

Has some mistakes.
The SA2 Prima Guide is very helpful but is has a few mistakes in it. 1. Page 5 In the section Knuckles and Rouge Punch or Kick attack. They have a picture of Eggman instead of Knuckles. 2. Page 6 In the swimming section it shows Rouge using her treasure scope instead of swimming. 3. Page 39 For Mission 4 In Metal Harbor it says you have 5 minutes. This is not true you only have 2 minutes in the game.

edited army ranger manual
smal unit tactics are taken right out of the ranger handbook, it has some extra features, more detailed platoon/squad formations. if u are interested in spec. ops, read this book

Yes!
Wow... this book is DEFINITELY for Academic study ONLY! This book DETAILS the U.S. Army's Special Force's ability to Train, Organize and Equip Rag tag people into a fighting unit, double quick time.

Unlike many "manuals" this one not only covers Small unit tactics and training, but also covers setting up intelligence, conducting Psy-ops and then organizing a working political system. This is important to long term success, since it saves you from having to re-fight the same battles over and over.

The book walks you through the staging and completion of the first acts of Rebellion all the way up to "Overthrow". It'll definitely point you in directions for further research!

Good Enough To Start A War
Anybody who likes to wage a war I recommend to purchase this book. To see how many you can kill and destroy is superior to this book.

Where was the editor?
Yet another good book spoiled by lousy editing.

1. Russians do not have middle names. It should be Andrey Dmitrievich Sakharov, or A.D. Sakharov, or Andrey Sakharov, but NOT Andrey D. Sakharov.

2. There are A LOT of mistakes in spelling of Russian names and book titles.

3. In two Greek words (allegedly by Plato), chresimos pseudos, I found 3 (THREE) errors: there are no zetas it those words at all, only sigmas.

4. By the time of Versailles Treaty, Romania had been on the map of Europe for about 50 years; it had not been created as a result of that treaty . . .

etc., etc., etc.

I do not believe Professor Weeks doesn't know when Romania was created. I blame copyeditor and proofreader . . . if there were any.

Stalin's plans for war
For a lot of Americans the best thing about the Soviet Union, or its saving moment, came in WW2. After Hitler's surprise attack (June 1941) the USSR became one more victim of Nazi aggression and joined together with US and Allies to end that most horrid totalitarianism.
Albert Weeks provides an essential corrective to this view. Drawing on newly available documents and his wide reading in Russian historians, Weeks argues forcefully for the view that Stalin had long had an imperialist project in mind for Soviet expansion into Europe, and specifically had the aim of striking his "ally" Germany. Hitler did not end a healthy alliance but only managed to surprise Stalin before Stalin could surprise him.
For a book in Soviet history, which has been loaded down with didactic interpretations on both sides, this book is refreshingly reasonable. Weeks weighs and assesses each bit of evidence he finds. He does not force evidence to fit his interpretation when there is room for doubt. And he is morally serious without being preachy.
Balanced and thoughtful histories of the USSR are finally possible. Who knows what other archives are going to be released? Which former Soviet officials will come clean about old state secrets? If Albert Weeks's book is any sign, reassessments of the USSR's past have a promising future.

Stalin's plans for a pre-emptive strike against Hitler
This is an important new book by an expert on Soviet history in updated Paperback format.

Professor Weeks presents the reader with a lot of newly discovered secret information from documents from formerly closed Soviet archives.

Among these documents are transcripts of Stalin's famous toast to graduates of the Military academies from the 5th of May, 1941, and the text of Stalin's previously hotly disputed secret speech to the Soviet Politburo, dated August 19, 1939, just days before signing the Hitler-Stalin Pact including its secret protocol about the territorial division of Poland, the Baltics and Bessarabia. The text was discovered in Russian archives and has also been confirmed by diary entries of Comintern head Dimitrov. Stalin predicts that Germany will have to fight a long war against France and England, allowing the Soviet Union to sovietize not only defeated Germany but also France.

An even more important document is from the Soviet General Staff. It is a war plan against Germany, calling explicitly for a pre-emptive strike against German forces! The document, titled "Considerations of the Plan for the Strategic Deployment of the Armed forces of the Soviet Union in Case of War with Germany and its Allies", is dated May 15, 1941. It has been prepared mainly by General, later Marshal, A. Vasilievsky, Deputy Head of the Operations Department of the Soviet General Staff (Stavka). The Memorandum was presented to Stalin by Commissar of Defense S. Timoshenko and Chief of the General Staff G. Zhukov.
The document "Considerations..." (15 handwritten pages long) is explicitly calling for a pre-emptive strike against German forces.
This is fully in line with the offensive military doctrine of the Soviets that called for "Deep Operations" into enemy territory (a fact confirmed by many Soviet Officers and historians, but neglected and disputed by Colonel Glantz and historian Gorodetsky, both of whom are using pro-Soviet arguments throughout their books. In fact, Weeks deals both Glantz's and Gorodetsky's apologia of Stalin a deadly blow with his well researched book. Glantz and Gorodetsky have been granted access to Soviet archives precisely because they stick to the official Soviet historiography, I believe).
Weeks uses a number books and documents that have only recently been published in Russia, and thereby allows the reader to form his own opinion based on these materials. This is a great advantage over many other books that try to ignore every little detail that might contradict the author?s arguments. Some of the documents in this book have never been published in English language before in their entirety. The wealth of information Weeks is able to present Stalin's "offensist" intentions is convincing to anyone with an open mind.
There can be no doubt: Stalin had detailed plans of attacking Hitler, it just happened that Hitler managed to strike first.
The only criticism I have about this book is, that the "Considerations" are not published in their full length (The document has been fully published in Austria and Germany, however). Anyone with an interest in the latest revelations from Stalin's archives should read this fascinating book. Highly recommended!

Great book by someone who knows what he is taking about.
Everyone and their brother is writing about security, but this book is different. The author is an expert and knows what he is taking about.

Excelling and rational book!

excellent!
Rattray lays a framework for the analysis of a growing threat to U.S. national security in the twenty-first century, information warfare (IW). While the number of studies on IW have steadily increased over the past five years, Rattray's book is unique in its sober examination of the hurdles organizations face in dealing with new technologies, as well as in its reference to the history of strategic warfare. This volume contributes to the growing literature on information warfare. It differs from other books, such as Sofaer and Goodman's Transnational Dimension of Cyber Crime, Denning's Information Warfare and Security, and Schwartau's Information Warfare in its historical analysis of U.S. strategic thinking in the inter-war period. It should be recommended to graduate and advanced undergraduate students.

Powerful, useful, a must
In short, this a great book that introduces complex ideas in an approachable format. Reasonable detail without overkill. A must given the changing world of cyber-warfare.
