really fun sixties book
I really loved this book because it reminded me of my own childhood growing up (not in London, but in Brighton) in the nineteen sixties. There are so many references to the music and the places and the writer really picks up on the feel good factor that all the hippy dippy culture of the time filled us with. It's upbeat and it's funny and the fact that the four girls whose story it is, are all from different backgrounds gives it a flavour of the social changes we now take for granted. A really good read!!

LAST NIGHT AN ANGEL STOPPED BY
"LAST NIGHT AN ANGEL STOPPED BY" WAS THE MOST INSPIRING, UPLIFTING BOOK I HAVE EVER READ. I WOULD RECOMMEND IT FOR ALL AGES. AS A CHILD, I GREW UP IN TENNESSEE, AND I WAS A SOUTHERN BAPTIST. AS I GREW UP I REALIZED THAT I DID NOT HAVE TO GO TO CHURCH IN ORDER TO KNOW GOD. I HAVE A BROTHER IN TENNESSEE, WHO IS A MINISTER, AND CONDEMS ME AND ANYONE ELSE, TO HELL, WHO DOES NOT ATTEND HIS CHURCH, AND ESPECIALLY IF ONE DOES NOT SPEAK IN TONGUES. THIS BOOK PROVES TO ME THAT I HAVE BEEN RIGHT WITH GOD ALL ALONG. THANK YOU LOGAN AND DARNELL.

I KNOW THE AUTHORS OF THIS BOOK, AND CONSIDER THEM MEMBERS OF MY FAMILY. DONA, THE MOTHER OF DARNELL, AND THE WIFE ON LOGAN, I KNOW HAD TO BE APART OF THIS EFFORT. I APPLAUD THEM! THANK YOU LOGAN AND DARNELL FOR MY SIGNED COPY. I WILL READ AND REREAD, AND TREASURE IT FOREVER.

it worked for me!
a must to read if you are committed in quitting smoking.
it gives the full picture of how smoking works, how it gets you and how it keeps you hooked. and after having given the framework, it provides the lightest method to quit you could ever dream of. and with no side-effects.
i did smoke for 15 years and was a real tobacco addicted (30 heavy ones a day), and i've been a happy ex-smokers for almost 5 years now. i wish mr or mrs riley could get my gratitude!

humorous book about speeding tickts written by a traffic cop
A motorcycle traffic cop wrote this hilarious book. I've probably used about a dozen or so of the excuses in this book when I've been stopped for "speeding." This book has a list of about 150 excuses people usually give for speeding. It also has about a dozen or so interesting real-life stories that the cop experienced when giving people speeding tickets throughout his extensive speed enforcement career--a woman exposed herself to the cop; another guy threw his radar detector out the window in disgust; some lady threw up on the cop--I LOVE that story. I enjoyed the book, and I think that anyone who exceeds the speed limit (WHO DOESN'T??), will enjoy this book! I'm sure that you've probably used some of the excuses in this book too! Heck, maybe I'll even try a few of them out the next time I get stopped for exceeding the "speed" limit. It's a humorous book that I think every driver should own.

life goes on
This book is about the siege of Ramallah and Shehadeh tells a heartbreaking story, with plenty of villians to go around. I expected that. To my surprise, what makes the book worth reading are the heroes. Not the Isreali soldiers. Not the PLO. Not Islamic Jihad or Hamas. The heroes of this book are the everyday people who actually try to live a normal life in the West Bank.

I love Hanes Walton!
The author of this book is the professor for my Political Science class at the University of Michigan and he is so incredibly passionate about the Civil Rights Movement. It makes the discussions a lot more meaningful when coming from someone who had to sit in the back of the bus instead of from someone who had read about it and never actually experienced it. His book is passionate and is an excellent read for anyone interested in the public policy behind the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Facing ALS With Faith and Courage
"When the Music Stopped" is the touching story of the faith and courage of Patti, a beautiful and talented woman with ALS, (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and an "ordinary man's journey " of 3 ½ years as her caregiver. Mike Wright tells his story with compassion, startling honesty and humor. The reader shares the impact that this devastating terminal illness has on every aspect of life. The author's objective is "to encourage those who must walk a similar path.."

Unlike "Tuesdays With Morrie" this book deals with the 24/7 challenges that the caregiver faces as one muscle group after another fails. Wright gives many practical and creative ways he found to deal with the constantly changing needs that ALS presents. Anticipating Patti's needs was one of his greatest challenges. The author gives suggestions to caregivers such as: "picking your battles, pace yourself, sleep a moment at a time, cry if you need to, and share laughter."

Wright emphasized the importance of accepting help when you need it. He describes a group of 15 friends he called Patti's Angels who assumed the caregiver roll in the afternoons so he could work part time.

Admitting that the physical and emotional exhaustion was often overwhelming for both of them they found that a sense of humor was a key to survival. Wright describes his first awkward attempts at learning how to put on panty house and apply makeup. Helping Patti to try on clothes in a cramped ladies dressing room in the mall when she was unable to move her arms or stand without assistance provided laughs for months to come. Humor helped the couple deal with many difficult situations.

The Wright's college aged son and teenaged daughter each wrote a chapter describing how they coped with their mother's terminal illness. Their honesty mirrors that of their father.

The book describes the grief process following the death of Patti
and the difficult road to recovery ending with his remarriage four years later.
This book is not only an inspiring story of a courageous woman but it's a tribute to her caregiver who was anything but ordinary.

Relative died from ALS: Appreciate the Author's Courage
I agreed that her determination and outlook on life has probably caused her to live longer than the normal person with this disease.

Learning everything from her first scooter, to the wheelchair, and her ability to communicate by computer adds to the personal nature for which it hit me and my family.
