This collection of fourty beautiful doilies will delight crocheters of all ages and experience levels. From perfect pineapples and delicate filet to colorful florals and versatile motifs, each of the patterns will be a pleasure to crochet and share.

I am fortunate to have seen the quilts in this book in real life when Ms Gravatt visited the London Quilters in the mid 1990s to exhibit her work. The workmanship is quite exquisite and these little quilts really are miniature replicas of full sized quilts.

The book contains patterns for 17 miniature quilts. The techniques used range from Hawaiian applique and traditional applique methods to Grandmother's Flower Garden using the English paper piecing method and even a delightful little Yo-yo quilt.

This book is not aimed at the beginner but at the quilter who understands how patchwork and applique quilts are made and planned and how to choose fabrics. Some suggestions are made at the beginning for finishing techniques and there are some general basic instructions but most of the quilts are complex enough that you will need to know what you are doing before you start.

That said it's a delightful book, beautifully photographed, which will grace any patchworker's shelves even if used purely as eye candy. And you never know when you will need to make that special quilt for a special doll!

I was gripped by anxiety and panic attacks since my early teens, but didn't realize it until my mid-40s. Once I hit bottom in my relationships, and had to face the facts, I turned to Dr. Townsend's book and found the answer. My early childhood trauma had imprisoned me in a childish emotion that I had to overcome.

He not only helps you recognize where and how this can grow from early childhood, but describes specific steps to healing, including the spiritual aspects as well as how to recognize old habits that built up as a defense against the pain.

I highly recommend this to anyone that had a wrenching early childhood experience (i.e. alcoholic parents, abandonment or abuse)and wants to begin to live life in close relationships rather than loneliness, shame and guilt.

Since I helped in the process of the book, I feel it is a comprehensive study of the history of Penny Squares. Willa took copious notes from various people while touring quilt shows and passed the history of some squares in this book. This was the first book on Penny Squares when it was published, since then many more have been written.

This book is a very readable, well laid-out text. It includes many photos of history people and places, and lots of interesting history and legendary information about the patterns from 9th Gup (white belt) to 1st Dan (1st degree black belt). The patterns included are the Chang-Hon set, from Chon Ji through Choong-Moo. The book is just 100 pages, but I was glad to find it!

I found this book in "self help" of all places but I guess it's kind of appropriate because it deals with issues often considered too frivolous for "serious psychology." Ms. Buzzard pulls together very diverse strands of psychological theory and case studies of real people struggling with how to find intimacy in mid-life. The result is just plain good psychology -- substantial reference to the wisdom of Freud, Erikson, and many, many other practitioners along with a very compassionate and insightful look at how people struggle, and often fail, to overcome the family stuff that acts a bit like a black hole on the human spirit. I'm sure some will criticize this book as being too traditional in its explanation of some people's inability to form meaningful relationships. But this isn't psycho-babble. Ms. Buzzard acknowledges the powerful pull of the family and the deficiencies of "not good enough" mothers and fathers, WHILE AT THE SAME TIME citing how attitude and basic optimism will always move one more quickly along towards a better life. So if you're looking for a quick fix you won't find it here.

Joanne Goldstein is a very talented individual. THis book is a fine example of her work. Its contents are very inspiring and instructions very
clear.
