This is a great series and a good pack to get started on. There are 23 books all together and I am on 21. Although not through direct this series is based on christain morals through sports. Being an athlete I loved reading this series. I did not like reading until I got these books and I began to fly. Partly because sports always intersted me and I felt like I was apart of the series.

Cavalry to the Rescue
This book has everything - the U.S. Cavalry, Indians; heros, villains. It is high adventure and a great read.

Watch that first step!
I've read every book MacLean has written -- some of them two or three times. This was the hardest one to put down. I finished it in two days. Somewhat unusual setting for MacLean -- aboard a train in the 1800's in the American West. Very well written, with nonstop action from beginning to end. Highly recommended for MacLean fans.

Watch that first step!
When I was a kid, I read every single one of MacLean's novels -- and this was the one I found hardest to put down! With a plot involving a Pinkerton agent on board a train in the American West, it is somewhat different from other MacLean novels -- but just as authentic and exciting! If you're a MacLean fan, it'd be well worth your time to track down an edition of this overlooked gem.

The Dashing Mr. Dively
Since computers seem to be the wave of the future I decided to get my certification. I bought Mr. Dively's book hoping to study and pass my CCNA. The book is well written, but it did not help me pass the test. In retrospect, it might have helped. If you get 1/10th of the pleasure out of it that I do then it is well worth the price.

Testing for CCNA
I have been trying for 2 years to get my CCNA. I have purchased 2 hardcover books and 3 test prep books. I purchased this book and passed first time. Wish there were more certification books by this guy.

Pass it may help you pass it.
Ready to take the CCNA exam but want a last minute review. Need to find a book that points out the finer exam objectives for CCNA. Here is the answer to those situations. Tailored made for the final exam prep PASS IT is an excellent choice.

Laid out over the 225 pages are the exam objectives and topics such as OSI model, Cisco 3 Layer design model, topologies, layer 2 devices like bridges and switches. I liked the break down differences of the switch and the bridge.

Also covered is VLANs, router configuration, IOS and management. TCP/IP, IP and IPX routing with the use of access lists for both and SAP as well. WAN protocols like HDLC, Frame Relay, PPP and ISDN.

The book has exam tips to help when taking the test, exam review questions at the end of each section. A cd-rom has been included with more exam tips, practice questions and even a practice exam. For the money there should be more questions included but overall the material covered should make studying easier.

I am now A+ Certified!
I received this book last week, looked over it over a weekend, and signed up for the 2 new A+ exams which were available the next week. I took the A+ Core yesterday and the A+ OS today. I passed both, thanks in part to this book.

This book gets right down to the meat of it and doesn't skip a beat. As soon as you open up the book, you won't be able to put it down. It reads very nicely. But dont get me wrong, this is only intended as a review of key concepts, so you may have to go elsewhere to get certain facts.

I would highly recommend this book for those of you that don't want to spend a week reading a tome (I won't name names here... but a certain corporate giant publishes books over 1000 pages to help pass their exams... which is great, but not if you want to get your certification fast). Best of all, it has a CD with flash cards and 2 practice exams. What more can you ask for?

Here is my advice. If you are thinking about taking the exam, start with this book. It is rougly 280 pages, and it will give you an idea of what you need to study up on. Good luck!

This is a great book. It gets right to the heart of the material and tells you exactly what you need to know to pass the A+ tests. I definitely recommend this book if you're planning on taking these tests or if you're just interested in setting up and configuring computers.

Add to the Complete Study Guide and this a great set.
It never fails, just when you think and exam is safe, someone goes and changes the questions. CompTIA is releasing new A+ Exams and they have added new material to both exams that make up the A+ certification.

Sybex is trying to keep up with the changes and they are releasing the FAST PASS books in replacement of the EXAM Notes series. This A+ guide is a scaled down, right to the point, cut out all the fat quick reference guide. This book should not be the sole book you use to study for the certification.

This book have a ton of useful information, goping to the very heart of the exam objectives. The author David Groth has done a very decent job in highliting the most important information and putting in a organized guide.

Covering both the Core and OS exam you have over 250 pages of material, again this book makes a great companion for the Sybex A+ Full Study Guide. Included in this book is a cd with a couple of practice exams, 1 for each exam as well as some flash cards.

I know that this a fine points study tool, but it think there could be a little more information on each topic as well as more practice exams. Overall a few minor updates are needed, buit this isone good tool to have.

Great Series
I took the Professional test using the Pass-it book and passed easily. I tested last week using the Server Pass-it with a 900. This author does a good job giving you what is (subject wise) on the test. Two months ago I used the CCNA Pass-it. I have just purchased the Windows 2000 Infra Pass-it and will report my progress here>

Server Test is the First
I am a computer professional and I have always had problems taking any test. I ordered this book and read it from cover to cover. I scheduled the test and passed with a 900. It must have been this book that covered only the material I needed. I was so please with this author's style that I just purchased the 2000 Professional PASS-IT by the same author. If this one works out I see this same guy has just done another one on CCNA and 2000 Infastructure. Let you all know.

Great Book
This is the first MCSE examination that I took. I thought the test was going to be hard. But this book only included what I needed to pass the test. Because all the filler was left out I was able to concentrate on the important stuff. Easy to read and I passed with flying colors. Wish there were more from this author.

Special
This was one of the first books I ever read by myself, and I frequently used to go look for it in the library to re-read it. One of the more endearing books in my memory.

An excellent book for little football fans
Both of our sons love sports. And both have loved this book. It's simple, easy to understand and easy to enjoy. I, and my boys, like it because the stars are the animals, and the little boys that play football. The pictures are simple and descriptive enough to convey the message and the story moves along quickly enough to keep short attention spans occupied. We've read Kick pass and Run hundreds of times in the last 4 years, and now that we own a copy of it ourselves, we'll probably read it twice as often.

Mitla Pass (G.K. Hall Large Print Book Series)
Published in Hardcover by G K Hall & Co (July, 1990)
Author: Leon Uris
Amazon base price: $21.95
Used price: $2.99
Average review score:

wonderfully written book!
In my (very) humble opinion this is Leon Uris' best written book.

The story of Gideon Zadok as he hunches down in the desert with the Israeli Army awaiting attack the book is mostly flashbacks through Gideon's life and his family's history. Utilizing a variety of narrative styles and a mix of narrators to give the reader a full perspective of events as they transpire, Uris also is able to flow from one time frame to the next with mastery and grace.

For me, however, the true gem of this book is the character of Gideon Zadok himself; not the most likeable of people (cheats on his wife, is self-centered unabashedly) but for all of his very obvious faults you cannot help but sympathize and identify with him. I love stories where the main character is unlikable yet through the author the story is constructed in such a way that the reader is pulled into the characters world and forced to walk their path along with them, creating a perfect binary between protqagonist and reader.

Uris, as far as I am concerned, is at his absolute best in this book and it is definately worth catching!!!

leon uris' great job on mitla pass
Mitla Pass is a layered, inspirational tale of love, war(amidst other things) and portrays the main character in a realistic and gritty manner.I first read the book when I was 12 years old and it has remained my favourite novel of all time. Gideon Zadok's struggle is very moving and his remniscing of loved ones helps to emphasise his conflict with himself and those around him. Mitla Pass spans over generations, but contrary to what one might think, you don't lose track.Uris's writing style is exceptional and captures the different settings of the novel beautifully and brings out their individuality.

Another multifaceted saga by Uris
Another fantastic human historical drama from Leon Uris Gideon the Writer is struggling to come to terms with a dysfunctional family (made up of a host of colourful characters make it read like a Jewish Dickens) and a difficult marriage to a wife who he takes for granted as well as his own wavering career He gets an assignment to write on Israels struggle to survive at the time of the Sinai War and has a steamy relationship with a sophisticated and powerful Jewish woman -who is a holocaust victim and an important consultant to the Israeli government But the story goes back to that of Gideons family many years before he was born and is exciting, illuminating, sad, humorous and pictureresque
